ty for this video!! while at my local "scum filled" Goldfish pond, I spotted a bird I had never seen before. I like to go over to this pond at night to feed the ducks and the fish, get crazy action when it's dark out. so me n my kids are hauling snacks n popcorn into the pond. I noticed this beautiful bird that I had NEVER SEEN b4! n this bird was smart, watching us throwing popcorn into the water but not eating any of it. to my surprise this bird was n next to me on the cement about 15ft or so from me. I was being brave, cuz I didn't want my son to get scared, but I didn't know what the bird was doing, coming inches closer and closer to us. when we ran outta stuff to throw in the water, we turned to start leaving the pond, n this bird seem to be coming our way. that made me a little nervous, so we started to go faster! but to my surprise again this bird was patiently waiting for the sm catfish to arise from the water so HE could get a easy meal. I couldn't believe it when he shot into the pond and snatched up a nice size fish!!it was so awesome! so I went back there with my bff the next night so she could b my witness n c the bird if it was still there. well it was! n this time I was prepared! he must've been happy to c me cuz he knew that I was gonna help him get another EASY MEAL! HE DID THE SAME THING AS THERE NIGHT B4 ! I was so excited b/c now I had pics of the bird, so I could try to figure out what type of fish murderer I had found. but I couldn't find it online,. n my girl had the pics in her phone, not mine. but I know that bird was a night herron. looked just like this bird in your video. such an amazing beautiful bird. so cool to c it hunting n eating in real life. thanks so much for helping me solve the "mystery bird of Goldfish pond

Sounds like a green heron, they use bait to fish, whether it's bugs they catch or from humans.

Amazing capture and hungry birds! It looks like many of those unlucky large fish were eaten alive! I wonder, what bird (seagull, blue heron, or black heron) would give the fish the best chance to escape if swallowed down in that condition?! It would seem like the potential meals would be quite desperate to retrograde if eaten in such a condition??
