I saw Frank when he was with Maynard - he has to be one of my most favorite players ever ! and as someone else already stated - - he is a great guy as well !

Frank Greene took over Al Chez's trumpet spot on the CBS Orchestra (David Letterman Show band) Frank's a SommaBitch!!! I'm gonna check out more recording by Frank Greene.

Arturo Sandoval and Dizzy Gillespie did that lick in octaves in a concert back in the 80's or 90's. That's why Frank did it here. You can prob find the original on here if you search for Arturo. He still plays that lick in concerts occasionally when he feels like showing off his range.

What is it with trombone players always telling trumpet players to play higher? I do that to my director all the time. He was playing double C once and I hit my triple Bb thereby matching his pitch. He hasn't bothered me since.

Totally disagree. Dig deeper in what you listen to. Everything that he plays has origin in other music. Even why he’d insert it into that “cadenza” all has basis in the musical history of what he’s playing. Every aspect of it musically or physically is all impressive.
