This does seem more interesting to me than most of the other Zombicide games - it does seem to be more honest in the core/root of the zombie genre: that quiet desperation and dread that Tom mentions.
@LouisAzor4 жыл бұрын
Looks like it's more real :) So the dread feels more real - this is a case of less is more - would prefer this over the others. It's down to taste and feel. This speaks to me more than the others - great review Tom.

My local board game shop had this in stock, bought it, and I think this is my fav of the Zombicide games as it is more claustrophobic and tense than just shoot and run.
@nonesta134 жыл бұрын
This is my first zombicide game and it's fun. It feels like the game needed more relative figures or less relative spawn cards. I'm definitely interested in trying some of the other Zombicide games.
@brainspider4 жыл бұрын
Since there is only 1 copy of the Cemetery Zombie in the game I also use that as a Relative on top of those in the box. If you backed the Kickstarter you'd have also got a box of promos including more Relatives and characters, all of which can be wwapped in as extra Relatives as needed (maybe the sheriff and co. were all wiped out and descenmd on the farm house as ghouls?)/
@stephensy20083 жыл бұрын
I think that's the point of the game.. more relatives activation.. which makes it more intense

I actually agree entirely. Maybe I'm biased because of the Night of the Living Dead theme, but I enjoyed this a lot more than original Zombicide or Black Plague (both of which I had owned previously and traded/sold). It just feels more elegant and thematic. I will say my two negatives thus far (having played through four scenarios) are the difficulty and the Romero/Zombicide flip mechanic for the characters. I could actually do without the flip. Aside from the fact that you have to flip back to Romero mode when a relative comes out, the way you initially get to Zombicide mode feels weird (usually it's just pass the starting rifle around). Plus, you have two minis for each of your characters, so if you're playing the game correctly you have to flip your cards and swap your minis on the board as you flip between Romero and Zombicide mode. Just feels a little cumbersome and unnatural to me. As for the difficulty, so far my group has not lost. However, admittedly the first three scenarios are marked easy so maybe we'll start hitting the more challenging ones. But, it's thematic and maps out the movie really well and not as "epic" as the other Zombicide games. It just feels more like a proper zombie horror game to me (and yes I think LNOE and this can definitely coexist in a collection). Again, I'm more than willing to admit my love for the original subject matter the game is based on is clouding my judgment :).
@tatorz10924 жыл бұрын
I made a house rule. There are two ways how you can flip to Zombicide mode. 1. Kill the final relative on the board 2. Craft Ma's Shotgun I tested it a few times, and it actually works well. Game is still challenging, and sometimes you'll still have some survivors that'll flip to Zombicide mode quickly. For the ones that will not flip right away, can still do some work.

I am a huge fan of Night of the Living Dead and this game nails it. One thing Tom didn't mention is that every zombie from this game is based on an actual zombie from the film. The best way to describe this game compared to the other Zombicide games is like comparing Alien to Aliens.
@npckse85084 жыл бұрын
I definitely dig that CMON paid homage to the classic film and found a way to make it work in their Zombicide system. This is the only other version that I own aside from Invader

This has become my favourite Zcide game as well, now it's NotLD, Black Plague, then Invader. Wxceppent review and I think you covered the game well and how it emuloates the look and feel of the original movie nicely. Also, gotta love the Karl Kopinski art throughout, he really captured that look (plus that creepy portrait of Karen on the box really draws you in).

Only played the first scenario. Have all 3 seasons of original Zombicide. Definitely a lighter version. Has some of the old, and some new mechanics I don’t care for. Example: the constant switching from Romero / Zombicide mode. Overall, if you were to introduce a Zombicide game to a new player, I think this is a lot easier than the original.

@@jonanjello If you love the movie, I think the game will hold value. (I enjoy it for that reason, and it is slightly easier to teach/play with newer players) If you don't really care for the movie, probably best to wait for Zombicide 2.0

As much as I hate zombicide, I had the three first boxes and traded them, against all the ods I bought this one because I love the movie and the remake. And Tom is right, this one feels good, honest and more grounded. For a person that doesn't like zombcide I totally recommend this one as your first experience with the brand, still too much dice rolling for my taste, but is "Night of the living dead"!!!
