This episode is night one of the Golden Egg at Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus MS. We need to find more speed folks! Overall I am off pace by a 1/2 second and didn't have what it takes to get into the feature.

Good job bud! I can’t wait to see your speed shooting adjustments. I’m sure we all could benefit from them. You will figure it out.

A few REALLY smart people have been giving me some great advice on where to focus my attention. I have some plans, I am ordering some parts, I think we can do what's needed to give this girl a shot at making the feature at the race in May in Gaffney, SC.

We run stock car not sure how similar our cars are but they seem similar. Maybe try more rear % would help?

We are at 53% but yes I can get to 54% if needed. We are going to make a few spring changes first to see how far that takes us.

All good stuff. Let me know if there’s any way I can help. A 750 is not too stiff, you’ll like the 16” 150 better. Don’t be afraid to go up on that bite number. 250-300 isn’t “high” in my opinion. You got this brother!

Im thinkin i just need less wheel offset on the rf to soften it but leave the 750.

I think it will be interesting to see how your changes work out. If the car was really fast right out of the box we would miss out on this part of it. You will get it though i'm sure.

are you allowed to chain the corners? and what type of shocks can you guys run? Lastly, is that a metric or Camaro chassis? With the proper setup, you dont need a lot of LR bite. We set-up on our Camaro chassis with Low LR bite... Our metric chassis has Nova lowers, offset and that also has around 100-140#'s of LR bite depending on the track conditions.... one night we ran a friends car and we had 20#'s of RR bite... had we put 40#'s of LR bite we would've won the race... lol

This is a 73-77 chassis. We can chain anywhere and the shocks are steel housing, no schrader, and non adjustable.

@@DIRTRACELIFE on one of our cars we run 800# LF with a tie-down shock, 60r40c we run the chain with slack we tighten it up depending on the surface. On the RF we run a softer spring chain it as if it's in a dynamic state and add pre-load to help drive the rf into the track which helps the car rotate. We did have a stronger tie-down shock be we switched to an easy up with a soft compression. The right rear, we run the following springs 16" 150, 175, 200# we run either a 4040 shock or the following tie-downs 5030 5040... we leave about 1/2" of slack in the chain... this way on throttle and the car chassis tried to hike it any, so it's pushing the forces through the tires... if we run the 175# we pre-load it 2" Our LR we run a 125#-20" spring we pre-load 5" to 7" and we leave 3-4" of slack in the chain. We run a 2rebound 10compression sometimes a 3r7comp Cobb. Frame heights front as well as side to side rake depends on what the car needs... Side rake up here we range 1/2-7/8" up front in the rear 7/8-1-1/4" but, our tracks lack bite besides in hot laps. Upper double triangulated rear trialing arms... we have ours mount fwd and low of the axle center line, and up 1" on the chassis. We also run multi hole brackets on chassis and axle. We get them from Close Racing Supply out of PA. Joel Smith is a good dude and has a inventory. I'd suggest with your current setup to put travel indicators on the corners and then take that information and mimic it in the garage and see where your numbers are.

Just my opinion but having all of your lead and weight in front of the rearend is part of your problem. I understand your reasoning behind but I think it makes the car tight. With the way motor location, I believe the polar moment is further back than a modified or late model
@DIRTRACELIFE
@DIRTRACELIFE 2 жыл бұрын
Its a good point Travis and I am listening. Yes, ultimately I did move some weight to slightly rearward of the center of the rear-end just to get the final numbers to work but it is still within 12 inches of that center. Right now the rear percent is at 53% and I think that's a good spot to be in. I want to work on weight transfer and the front ends ability to turn the cars first in order to manage the cars ability to turn. But if that doesn't get me there I am coming back to this!

I can't believe you guys only run one inch stagger on a small track like that when I raced back in the 80s I had a stock frame car and I was racing on a five eights mile D shaped track and I ran 3 inches of stagger and my hubs Centers on the right hand side of the car we're greater than the left and I ran Down the straightaway straight as an arrow with 3 inches of stagger on the rear I'm not saying to do that I'm just telling you I'm very surprised on the 1 inch if I was running a track like that it's almost like a Soup bowl I would probably run every bit of three maybe even four inches can you tell what the other guys are running

On coil cars running h500 tires, one inch is very common. I upped it to 1 and a half this last day of the Golden Egg.
