Disney doesn't usually change their minds, this ride will be getting the re-theme. You can always ride the original in Tokyo though.

The one thing I don't like about Splash Mountain is how quickly you pass by all the characters and show scenes.

+jetraydude I've noticed that that's one of the big differences between the one here (Florida) and the one in SoCal. the one in SoCal seems to just rip past everything and kinda gloss over the story, whereas the one here the boats go a little slower and it explains the story a tad better. That and the one here can fit twice as many people. Also, I don't know if this is just a rumor, but doesn't the one in SoCal not have lap bars?

+Nuggetlover96 thier are no lap bars the only way to hold on are in the side bars inside of the log but no seat belts. once i was in the front and it was so scary i thought i was going to fall never doing that again by going to the front again.

I agree with this. It seems the ride's water flow is increased to push the logs through zigzag corners much faster than Magic Kingdom. Also, I think Disneyland's Splash Mountain is much more compact. You'll see more logs diving into the briar patch every 10 seconds at Magic Kingdom, which means the length of the ride's track is capable and spacious enough to hold more logs. At Disneyland, the logs are more spaced out between one another and dive into the briar patch every 20 to 30 seconds from each other. I've been stuck on Disneyland's Splash Mountain before and had to exit the ride due to too many logs being on the track at the same time which creates a log jam. The ride's computer detected this and automatically shut the ride down.

Kanye West No. When the park first opened they had something called a ticket book you had to buy seperately to get on rides but that ended around the 80s I think. Ever since then you don't need to pay extra to get on the rides. Just to get in the park.

In my opinion I think Disneyland's version is better, it has good music, the look of the mountain has a pretty nature look, it's unique, and the guy who voices b'rer bear in song of the south voices b'rer bear at Disneyland, and Splash mountain would have been a longer ride but it's not since Disneyland has little land. Disneyland's Splash Mountain may not have the cool effects like wdw's splash mountain but it will always be unique since wdw copied Disneyland's splash mountain, but they made new animatronics and different music, wdw's version is in frontier land while ours (disneyland) is in critter country. I honestly think that the splash mountain in Disneyland is pretty creative for re-using the animatronics from an old attraction. The logs actually are similar to real logs in real life because they aren't wide.

There's pros and cons to each. I like that the WDW one takes it's time with the animatronics, but I love the music in Disneyland's. I hope I can go to WDW one day and try it out.

It's still weird to me that this is a main attraction at the parks and yet they continue to want to brush the movie this is based on under the rug. The movie isn't even that bad racially from what I've seen. Granted I haven't seen it all the way through because you can't find this movie anywhere on DVD or bluray or anything. It's more of a "this happened in history" racial thing then being offensive.. unless people are so uptight over history that they get in a hussy over it? RetroJaro I have a burned copy. While it DOES make light of slavery and other issues, it has no malicious racism and none of the African American characters are portrayed as dumb. In fact, Uncle Remus is the smartest character I'd say. I think it should be released.
