Thanks for the actual running footages and the side-by-side. Those help a lot more than just reading Amazon reviews.

These are great additions for night running. As runners, we still need to be aware and alert at all times. My first time running with a Nox Gear vest, I was still almost run over at a crosswalk by a driver who didn't stop. Can't be complacent.
@ChaseTheSummit4 жыл бұрын
Yikes! It's frustrating how irresponsible some drivers are. I worry every time my wife walks out the door with her headlamp on. The way I see it, If someone hits me wearing a NoxGear style vest and 10 other lights... They'll look REAL bad. Thanks for watching.

Visibility > Cool Factor 😉
@Anza_348324 жыл бұрын
Well done video - like the car perspective which illustrates well the differences in visibility. BTW: Once lived in Ireland where motorcyclists have to wear hi-vis vests...ever since, I use such a yellow ‘emergency’-vest for passive visibility when running or cycling in the dark. Very cheap, easy to get & SUPER visible to car drivers!

Michael, I'm 6'4 and 19 stone (so hardly small),I was out for a run at 3:30pm ,I was covered in reflective strips with shoe clips on and a red light clipped to back of my shorts. I still got clipped by a car wing mirror on a wide country road with no on coming traffic,I had a huge and painful bruise on arm for 6 weeks ,now I go out like the Christmas tree in time square.

Great video. I got a multiple day run coming up. 95% of the run is in a busy street with poor lighting. Your video running up and down the street with the gear on was a eye opener on the lighting I'll need. Thanks

Thanks, I enjoyed the video. I always use a waist light and headlamp together as it gives you a better chance at seeing all the detail on the trail as well as making sure I can be seen. I have two Zebralights that are about 1,000 lumens each for the job. I also like reflective clothing too. I only choose warm color lights as it lights a more natural, less harsh, color to the path. I also almost always bring a bright thrower hand torch just in case I need to light up something at distance or get someone's attention.

I live in the middle of nowhere, consequently everyone drives flat out as they very rarely see another car ,there are also many elderly drivers and tractors I go out dressed like Blackpool illuminations if I run after 3pm as I've had a couple of near misses. I have the tron whole body lights you reviewed I also have some Ron Hill lights i got off amazon you can clip on to your running shoes or the back of your shorts. Great video again Dave, definitely my favourite running channel. * Blackpool is a seaside town in the North of England, every year from about the end of November they have 2 miles of light display,according to the website it's world famous.

Your channel has tons of great videos, thanks for all the hard work! Also side note, it's interesting to see how different our lives can be. I live in Taiwan which is like one of the most tropical places on earth. Never less than 10 degree celcius, often more than 30, day and night is always about 12 hours each. As a runner life is really easy here in comparison (but we got lots of mountains though 😊)

Noxgear all the way but I like the idea of additional light in front. Great customer service. When I went to use it for first time this season it would not work. Chatted w customer service and had to clean my battery posts. Fixed in 5 minutes and back on the road. Love them real people!

hey all, would love some input regarding tail lights for hydration vests. you know how they use a 1/4 to 1/2 of material for you to attach a clip to and most clips are 3 inches long. looking for something more compact as if it was made for the job

Be careful with cheaper reflective vests/strips: I tried some and was dismayed to find that after 3 runs the reflection was zero. Sweat alone was enough to reduce what was I initially good reflectivity to worse than useless. (Worse because you may not notice, and may think you or your kids are more visible than you/they are…). Other armbands are not reflective 360 degrees (meaning that they twist so as to reflect nothing). There are some really crap designs out there.

The problem with the one lighted vest, is that it's only as good as your batteries. Once your batteries die....it's of little use. Plus nobody can see you in the DAYTIME. Very little fabric on it to make you visible in the day time, unlike a more full vest.

I think that having two reflective armbands, one on your biceps and another above your ankle is more than enough.. Those things light up like reflectors at night..

Funny, I saw some bad reviews on REI's website. Still took the plunge and bought it. I have had ZERO issues so far and it's held up great. Battery lasts forever. I worry a bit about the wired connections that seem a bit stressed at sharp angled but so far so good. I've heard their customer services is pretty good too. Fingers crossed. If anything changes I'll let you know!

A breastlight like this www.decathlon.de/p/lauflampe-run-light-250/_/R-p-312549 is much more comfortable than a head light and it confuses car drivers so much, that they keep distance. I use the predecessor since 5 years and it's bright enough to run in the woods.
