NIGHT SLASHERS - RETRO ARCADE REVIEW

My review of the 1993 arcade beat'em up, Night Slashers, by Data East. This was a fun game to discover and the horror and over the top violence was a great touch.

Night Slashers is a fantastic horror-themed beat'em up that shows a great mixture of gory glory content, complete with plenty of that early 90s charm and cheesy voice-acting😆. You can tell the developers had a huge love and tribute the world of B-Grade Horror monsters, putting so much detail and charm into the character designs and the grizzly death animations of each individual monster you slay. One of the biggest highlights is of course the soundtrack! Every track is an absolute banger that greatly amplifies the experience of Night Slashers.

The Japanese version of Night Slashers has red blood, and Flying Tiger Entertainment created what was essentially a de-censored English version of the game as part of their Johnny Turbo's Arcade series on Nintendo Switch by combining the Japanese version's graphics with the English dialogue from the North American version. The Johnny Turbo's Arcade version was de-listed from the Switch eShop some time ago, presumably due to Flying Tiger's license for the game expiring, but since the upcoming remake is slated for a Switch release, that's not much of an issue.

4:05 the blood is green because of the version you're playing, actually in the JP version, the blood and guts are indeed red and horrendous as it should be :3

The remake is done by Storm Trident. But in the demo, they still show the Data East logo during the opening credits, which I thought was cool.

I play them via Fightcade, but you can also research MAME and play'em that way as well.

Retro gaming heaven has good plug and play mini pcs , no duplicates everything works as intended plays up to PlayStation two games game cube. I think there’s like 70 councils 16 gigs of ram one terabyte of games and councils I like allot! The GUI is easy to maneuver as well plug and play PlayStation 4 controllers as well as Xbox

WTF?! The ghost helicopter is so over the top stupid, that it fits perfectly into the game. If you don't get it, I don't get why you don't get it after all your initial praise for the game's setting.
