You’re absolutely right Paul, but one thing that you should understand and or possibly consider is that once that round goes off and that flash to my right side goes off from where the light was the light suddenly becomes way less important and that flash of light that is the main threat is now suddenly the focal point. I love where your heads at and obviously there’s going to be different opinions but what I can say is normally I quickly tap that light it is a very short momentary on and then after that gun goes off I moved to the opposite side that gun went off on it’s just the way I’ve been trained and as it stands, 50/50 chances😂 would love 100 however, those odds never exist in a gun fight, don’t let anybody fool you. Obviously every situation is going to be different, conditions, physical ailments and disabilities etc. Great point and thanks for watching.

Keep in mind in Texas: if you have a weapon mounted light and you walk outside and use that light for a flashlight then you’re also technically pointing said weapon at whomever you come across. So if they are simply walking down the curb and they trigger your security system so you walk out there and point at them to “see what it is” then you’ve committed a FELONY in the state of Texas called Deadly Conduct. Look it up. Using a weapon to point with zero probable cause or belief you’re also in immediate danger of deadly force is a felony on your part.
@smnkm4ehfer4 ай бұрын
It's actually brandishing and just point at the ground. The light spill will illuminate them without pointing it at them. And if you aren't doing it in a threatening manner it may not even be brandishing(which is a misdemeanor). Or carry a handheld and keep a weaponlight mounted.

These techniques and this genre of content involving employing an illumination device alongside a fighting pistol really was both useful and thought provoking! It is something within the "Gun Fu" that is indeed not practiced or, moreso, overlooked completely. Referring back to the training I once received in clearing houses and utilizing a handgun in tandem with a light in dark spaces while doing so, I can only recall being briefly instructed on light positioning relative to the officer and the gun. Not utilizing it as a distraction or supplementary aiming aid for defensive accuracy under speed if tucked in close on the off side. Many thanks for shedding some light ;-) on light etiquette to supplement defensive shooting.

This is a much needed video topic. I have always viewed flashlights mounted on a gun frame with horror. In darkness your opponents will shoot at the light in front of them. Even if they are an inch or two off in where their bullet goes, that means that bullet goes into you. That is not a good thing. Your flashlight should not be adjacent to or in line with a vital organ of your body. If you have a 2nd flashlight (some folks do) and you are clearing a room, point it away from you and roll (not throw) it into the room. As it rolls it will illuminate your targets, and who cares if they shoot the light on the floor?
