While you likely won't be seeing this while the advice is relevant to your playthrough, there actually is a benefit to making a pickaxe before you have a hammer: Having a pickaxe lets you mine out a deposit the moment you find it, instead of forcing you to return to it later once you've made the tools. This is less useful when a player has access to a map, but it's definitely convenient for Wilderness Survival runs.

That is a valid point, but at the same time my inventory and storage is very limited. I find it better for my playstyle to mark it with packed dirt or remember where it is relative to my base so that I'm not spending time collecting something that wouldn't improve my short-term situation.

@@GGBeyond Completely fair. I'm in a bit of an opposing situation: All too often, I forget the exact path to get back to a marked location and end up wasting a significant chunk of time trying to find it again.

I could imagine a sluice box being added to this game for automated "panning". Just stack some sand/gravel on top and let it do it's thing. Perhaps it could also include rarer materials that can bottleneck progression... I think that would be neat :D

I would love that, though that would have to be a very late-game mechanic requiring a lot of power.

@@benben-fz2esyes there is a sleuth box....but it requires plates for a hopper to use(from the version i have seen)

I'm honestly surprised that's not in already, given how much inspiration this game seems to have taken from TerraFirmaCraft. In TFC it's gated by lumber, which means a saw and therefore at least copper or bronze tools.

@@GGBeyondthey don't require power at all. Just moving water

ways to add edging excitement to panning... possible computer connection failing :)

Best ladders solution is rope ladders. They are reusable as you can collect them back. You slowly gather them until you get 2 stacks, and from now on you just forget about ladders.

I love panning but prefer to do it all at once. For my Icy World though I'll have to do more of this, panning a bit every day so I can get enough clay to DO stuff. :D

cracked rocks work just like normal rocks, but they can't be polished or turned into bricks and slabs.

Panning seems like a big part of the early game, I think the devs should revisit it. Make it more interactive/turn it into a minigame.. when you have to do that much of it, it should be pretty high in the priority list.

Im just curious, can you melt down the copper arrow heads you find back into melted copper? Add it back to whatever ore you are melting down?

Copper is 1 in 6 chance? But 1 copper nugget in 6 sand blocks? Because it sure seems that way
@slarzyer Жыл бұрын
from my testing... 64 blocks of sand will yield on average 40-50 nuggets...85 is the max
