apjung me too apjung... I'm really hoping KZbin will lift it's concerns regarding copyright claims. The night tracks tapes are terrific reflections of the early 1980's.

Golden Pacific Media Please join us at the WTBS Night Tracks Facebook group if you haven't done so already. Some of the people that used to work at Night Tracks and TBS are there. I also have multiple KZbin accounts (NightTracksClassic, NightTracksX, NightTracksWMG, RareNightTracks, NightTracksChristmas, NightTracksTMTM) for Night Tracks videos and I also collect Night Tracks shows. I would love to get a copy of any Night Tracks shows you have especially from 1983. My father didn't buy our first VCR until May 1985 and I didn't start recording Night Tracks shows on a regular basis until my high school Senior year in October 1988. The trading list is at www.jungworld.com/night-tracks/nt_trading.htm

apjung I am looking through my video collection. This is one of the earliest video tapes that I have as well. In uploading to KZbin, it appears that Google has a DRM digital scanner that is able to identify each song played. I will certainly reach out to your group on Facebook. Night Tracks is one of my favorite cable TV programs of all time. I think our entire generation grew up enjoying these songs with our friends in the middle of the night and early morning hours of our youth.

Where are the 3 hour music videos of NT with commercials you posted? I'd like to see those myself and do you have more (Night Tracks) WTBS shows besides this one?

Retrotv one more thing, NT was about 6 hours at night on Fri/Sat in 1983, do you have this whole show with commercials or just a portion of it?

Retrotv Thank you for your interest. I am attempting to preserve the video recordings from 1983. My initial attempt to post the video recording was unsuccessful due to KZbin's digital rights system. KZbin's digital rights system appears to incorrectly flag material that is within copyright use for educational and academic purposes. The other 3 hour block video was deleted by me due to my desire to maintain this channel according to KZbin's policies. I may have other material, as I have an extensive collection of Retro TV video on beta and VHS. However, I am puzzled by the refusal of KZbin to honor the educational and academic intent of the video posting. The video was not monetized and was clearly labelled in my comments as being posted for educational purposes. The educational intent is clear and obvious to any familiar with the situation for black entertainers, artists, and performers on cable and satellite music channels prior to the mid-1980's. If someone is not familiar with the controversy, MTV was said to be blocking the airing of black entertainers and artists prior to Michael Jackson's Thriller world premiere on MTV in December 1983. When you watch the Night Tracks video from 1983, you see many performers of many nations and ethnicities. WTBS was airing this multi-cultural contemporary pop music on Friday and Saturday nights.

OK, I figured it wouldn't work because of these tough companies, do you think you can send me those blocks over on Dropbox? I had a friend who used to show some NT shows on Justin.tv but that is gone now, you were right, that is Bob Coburn who was with NT until 1986, the other was Joanne Erhart who stayed until 1989, Night Tracks ran with six spinoffs but many of them ended over the years, the original ran from June 3,1983-May 29,1992.

Retrotv Thank you very much for your interest in my preservation effort. I feel that the Night Tracks program had a national and even international impact on global pop culture. These videos need to be archived for future generations reference and for educational value. I have not chosen to repost the Night Tracks tapes due to the copyright claims on KZbin. EMG, SPE and others have a right to make their claims. I am a bit unclear on the status of digital rights when the original program is clearly destroyed. Undoubtedly, SPE, EMG, and others were already compensated for airing of the videos on Night Tracks. Until KZbin clarifies it's rule and the interests of the claimants, I am not distributing digital copies of the NT recording.
