This song sounds to me like a child who lost her mother in a fire "Say something" describes this to me: a fire started and caught her house on fire, shortly, the fire department came and the child escaped but the mother couldn't, the fire stopped, and the firemen found her after.. she was dead.. covered in ashes.. the child said to the mother "mom, please, if you can hear me... say something." and then there's "im giving up on you": after the child says "mom (the rest of the sentence)" she cries softly as her brother, sister and father comforts her and then she laid there for a while and then said "im sorry but I'm giving up on you" and she leaves in tears. years later she's 19 years old and is at a bar with her friends, the party ends and she's drunk, while driving home, she swerves too much hitting another car, she runs off the road into a forest. the car caught on fire and she was unconscious, the fire got worse and by the time the fire department got there, it was too late... she was gone.. and the rest of the family showed up crying.. they thought "family is life.. and if we don't have family, we don't have life" and so they held hands and laid in the highway.. they got run over and all of them died... but then they went to heaven and got reunited. they were extremely happy, crying in happiness and they were a happy family again, The End

When my grandma was dying of cancer, I got to see her. I said goodbye when we were leaving but didn't believe she would die. I knew she was strong, I knew she could make it. Life... had a different plan. I miss her so much. Me and my brother were told after trick-or-treating, I was shocked because I thought she could make it. I didn't realize but my eyes were streaming with tears. I collapsed on the floor in tears, hoping it was a sick joke. We haven't visited my grandpa in about a year, and I just miss her and hope my grandpa is doing good.
