'Nightline's' Historic Nelson Mandela Interview

Ted Koppel, first to interview Mandela after his release from prison, asked an unexpected question.

Mandela made the ‘did i paralyze you’ comment because Koppel was speechless when Mandela called out his clear bias during the interview. It was a long awkward silence from Koppel after Mandela’s response and hence he seemed to have been paralyzed.

His comrades included Walter Sisulu, Oliver Tambo, Ahmed Kathrada, Winnie Mandela, Govan Mbeki and more. Past struggle veterans include Chief Albert Luthuli (who won a Nobel Peace Prize) and then there was the new generation who came after him, including Thabo Mbeki, Terror Lekota and Cyril Ramaphosa.
