While it makes perfect sense to put the boyfriend/spouse at the head of the queue of suspects, what isn't OK is to hold off pursuing other enquiries until the boyfriend/spouse has been cleared. Often police lose days or weeks before putting resources behind developing other potential suspects until they have totally cleared him. They never ask themselves, what if he didn't do it? They just assume he must be responsible simply because they'd had a row and/or he wasn't upset enough immediately following her dissappearance. It was New Years Day and he'd been out till 7am. He was hungover, FFS! Cops are $hit. It's a miracle they solve any case, and when they do it takes them ages, is only thanks to telephony, cctv, dna or an anonymous tip, and the guilty party ends up getting a short tariff and is released early. British Justice.

I’m very confused, if you’re so concerned about your daughter walking home on NEW YEARS in the middle night……WHY DIDNT YOU DRIVE HER THE MILE AND A HALF YO HEF FLAT!?!?!?!?!?! I’m sorry for this family’s lose, but it could have been avoided! You couldn’t get ahold of her so you didn’t think that you should maybe get in the car and look for her?! If you can’t drive, then wake up the family and get in the car!!! This was completely avoidable, I know I sounded like I’m blaming the victim’s family, but I just can’t imagine a mother not jumping in the car or get the father to drive if she feels she can’t drive bc of she drinks she had prior. Then you tell a COMPLETE STRANGER to walk with her home…..WTF. Get in the car, take her to her house to get the kittens, and bring her back to the home!!!!!!!! You NEVER allow your child that’s inebriated/upset to just walk off in the middle new years night which is one of the worst nights for women/men to get SA bc vulnerability to control the situation. The mother thinking that she drowned herself, and that wasn’t a murder is completely sad/ was obviously having a hard time realizing the reality of the situation. Did she really think your daughter was suicide over her boyfriend going to a party/kittens home alone?! that lead me to believe the mother thinks the daughter has poor mental health, and unable to cope with her feelings/daily life issues. If that’s not the case, then the mother is just delusional/handles situation by denying the reality until someone connects the dots for her.

I think you're not seeing the whole picture. David was obsessed and delusional. I don't think any rejection - public or private (as in the meeting in the park) - was ever going to turn out well. He was going to explode into violence at some point, however tactful Matt was. The only way that might not have ended in drama was if the couple had bypassed direct contact with David and reached out for third party help. Contacting the police or going to family. But then I suspect neither Matt or Joanna recognised how dangerous David was.

They were kittens and they need small regular meals. I've hand reared orphaned kittens from 3 weeks old and they had to be fed every 2 hours night and day, with an eye dropper. +It's not unusual for animal lovers to feel this way. I wouldn't have gone out and left them either. None of this is the mothers fault. It was after 1am and she was tired but she did offer her daughter a lift home but she refused. There is only one person to blame for this horrendous crime.
