I feel like there are so many good moments in this series, technically speaking and it strikes me that what probably happened is that they came up with an outline of cool stuff that they definitely wanted to do (the paranormal stuff, the shots with the stalker, etc) and specific shots they wanted to capture but they didn't actually think out much of a storyline beyond these points. I do think they deserve so kudos for their attempts at being cinematic. Although that last shot of the series was paired with a hokey ending, the visual itself was pretty impressive. Overall, I think this was a Christmas break project that got over their heads.

Through the duration of the series he gave off these highly suspect vibes beneath the veneer of a "Paranormal Expert" I assumed him a member of the cult secretly keeping tabs on Nick's personal life (Fairly obvious since his wardrobe and general appearance just screamed "CULTIST"). It looked like they were headed in this direction during the episode in the Church when David blurts out something he shouldn't have known about Nick and Mark's activities but then he flees once the cult ambushes them and is never seen again even in the final episode.

What def struck me the hardest in terms of cheesiness was the fact that there was a man in his house, tearing down his bathroom door while he's locked inside, and Nick is as calm as can be talking to the police. Like damn!

What made me hold up my hands and say "What is even going on?" was the part on Halloween when he had the camera set up and recording him sitting in a chair and reading. Like, why? It's not even like he was expecting somebody; he assumed the person knocking was just a trick-or-treater and tried to send them away. Made no sense.

While theres an irl example of the last one, the caller wasnt in a "wheres johnny" situation

Being honest, I really do like the idea of a webseries where the antagonist is just a bunch of punk kids. I don't even think the detective was meant to be fake like NM said. In the video Nick only said that "Howell told me Carter took Austin to the hospital and never made it," which I think Nick (NM) interprets as saying that Carter wasn't a real cop and took Austin. I think it was actually just supposed to be confirmation that Carter and Howell (the older cop) work together.

During the confrontation scene where the book comes back the use of lighting and shadows to imply an unnatural presence being with them without dialogue in is really good. Also at the end of the scene, right before they start driving to the cemetery, the fourth friend that went missing before, the one with the hat, appears behind them as if he was there the whole time but the other three don’t acknowledge him either. This is the kind of visual story telling I’m here for. Props to these guys because not everyone can do this kinda thing well.

Honestly, the shot is perfect for it, the headlights from the car highlighting the body, the body covering the car so it can cut away without seeming fake, it just had so much potential.

Man I wish this had been better in the end. That area is such a great location, too. I heard the name Batsto and my ears perked up immediately. The Pine Barrens are one of my favorite locations in my state, but they are creepy. You wouldn't think you could go into the woods in the middle of new jersey and feel so utterly alone and cut off. Areas of controlled burns with scorched trees, areas with short pines too tall to see over and too short to see through that seem to stretch on forever. Legends of the Jersey Devil, old abandoned structures. Ticks. I would really love to see more series tackle this location.

...welp. Looks like this took a turn for the ludicrous. You weren't kidding when you said it entered Cabin Fever Dreams territory. This comes close to rivalling the Damn Good Margarita and "This Video Will Take You To Hell" from a few years back. While I haven't needed to indulge the Curse of Captain Morgan to get through certain parts, I have been playing the vapourwave track "Enjoy Yourself" by Saint Pepsi in order to get through some of the just plain goofy stuff.

I was so amped up for the conclusion, and so let down! Been a long time since there was a good, creepy web series that caught my attention, and when you posted part 1 I thought this would be one. I think they really could make something fantastic. Since I've recently learned the two fanbases have a surprising amount of overlap, I have to say that Nick's feelings about this series brings Ross Scott's rant about the game "Revenant" to mind. "It probably won't be the last time, but I have to say, Revenant has caused more intense mixed feelings for me than any other game on the show so far. It starts off _really good,_ and _gradually_ ends up so tedious I couldn't finish it, _and_ maintains a _great atmosphere_ the _entire time._ And to cap it off, we have one of the most callow, yet nihilistic endings I've seen. What the hell? What was this game trying to do? It's not like there was _one thing_ that held this game back, it feels this way by design. So many games nowadays are predictable or follow a standard formula, but this one felt like something that limped out of an alternate dimension, where it should have been a _great_ game, but decided to kill itself in front of me instead. Why?"
