Same for unnecessary "video distortions." Over use of the effects can make the serious tone of any series devolve into petty edgelord territory. It's really disappointing when creators rely too heavily upon effects rather than storytelling.

@ASolzhenitsyn
@ASolzhenitsyn 4 жыл бұрын
@@Julian-bq9qv yeah digital stuff, for the most part, either works or it doesn't. It's not like analogue where parts of a distorted signal can get through. The most common time you can get these partial info effects is when data is recovered from a damaged storage medium. However even that doesn't look quite like this. The areas of missing data show up as dead or "filler" data in the bits it was stored to that failed. It's much more static, as in it's just there it doesn't jump around and constantly look different. Maybe some day someone will get this correct.
@ThatBugBehindYou
@ThatBugBehindYou 4 жыл бұрын
With advancement in technology it only gets worse and worse too. It wouldn't be a problem if they did research on what causes disturbances and then replicate something but far too often it's all this cutting and warping, you have to ask what they want you to think it is. Is it a problem with the SD card? If so what kind of problem? If it's damage to the SD card, well, even basic SD cards can be waterproof, zap-proof, and very drop resistant so I dunno about that. You can go on and on about how microphones don't screw up in the ways this shows and same with lenses, don't even get started in the file of the recording itself magically screwing up and getting these effects. Paranormal entities can't change the fundamental laws of recording equipment and file information.

I think the problem a lot of these webseries have lies in the acting. Many are made by theatre-type kids, for theatre-type kids (myself included), so while the acting might be technically good on paper for stage acting, it often comes across as stilted or awkward because they forget at its core that the goal of any ARG series is realism. REALITY is an operative word there. Too much of the acting is way, way, overdone and the acting could be so much better if people actually ACTED less and actively tried for a more natural feel. But that’s just my takeaway here. Also, the wild inconsistency in tone and style of filming was a big turn off to me for some reason.

Even if you saw the two additional episodes not included in this video there is still no conclusion that makes everything fit together. If those two episodes in season three actually are the conclusion then there is plenty that doesn't fit. It is still excellent and I enjoyed watching it but you can't just pretend it's some masterpiece that couldn't possibly be improved upon.

I think the biggest and most important question is this: how many layers of the simulation are there, and what layer does each character belong to? The thing that stood out the most to me is that the two internal management members who talk about shutting the system down speak of this screwed-up world that they would have to sit the clients down and explain it to, but Caleb and Abbigail actually have 'thinking you're outside the simulation but still being in it' as part of their experience. Kiara and Jasper prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that the 'outside world' we might have believed Caleb to be working in is most likely just another layer. It makes sense that if Caleb (who I believe has not interacted with Ryan until the fourth wall break) jumps from the layer he's supposed to be on (assisting Abbigail on layer 2) to a layer he's _not_ supposed to be on (interacting with Alex and Tessa) that would cause an internal error that could be major enough to start the 'beta repair loop' and the 'multiple clients in the same instance' phenomena. My theory: Layer 1: Ryan #1 (who is the only one we know for sure is a client and now understands he's in a simulation thanks to System), Abbigail #1. This Ryan wears denim, which is significant thinking about his interview. Layer 2: Abbigail #2 (we see both her and #1 in the greenhouse area after Caleb's 'jump,' introducing multiple clients), Caleb (jumps to layer 4 where he hasn't been written to be in, starting the major errors). Layer 3: Kiara and Jasper, who exist as beta testers in an independent layer of the simulation. They don't interact with any other characters. The fact that they were terminated suggests either they were forced to participate or it's another instance of Layer 4: Alex (Ryan #2, _not_ wearing denim) and Tessa (Abbigail #3) (we understand Alex is still not the 'real Ryan' in the interview in which he says "why would I wear denim?") (Additional fun fact: 4 layers could correspond to the 4 servers from the official website) Layer ??: Any other possible layers we aren't aware of currently. Outside world: The two agents discussing a shutdown of the entire system and explaining everything to everyone who is inside. From the fact they've used the word "them" we know it's more than just Ryan who is in there currently. Misc: Tyler and System (Amy) are both artificially created. Assuming System is isolated to inside the simulation, that would make Leo most likely another client. The timeline is so chaotic it's hard to make sense of it, but you can infer the story has been very roughly chronological. There are some fucked up possibilities you can think about that really give you a brainache such as: - If Caleb believes he's outside of the simulation (but that's just a part of his experience), then the VR demo Ryan and Abbigail #1 visited that he mentioned is also part of the simulation. - 'Client Ryan' (the Ryan in the interviews) is not the Ryan that existed outside of the simulation (i.e. the interviews are after the simulation has already begun). - Ryan #1 isn't actually Ryan but an additional construct. The 'real' Ryan is played by Alex, because Alex doesn't wear denim. If the 'real' Ryan planned his own VR experience then most likely they wouldn't make him wear denim if he didn't want to. Additional suspicion is cast when the unknown character walks into Room 2 in the hotel and turns into Ryan #1 (it's possible this unknown person is just an AI agent that switches personas). - Ryan #1 is actually Ryan and Alex is a construct that formed from the Sunrise executable in order to give Caleb, who wasn't written into the layer he jumps to, a sequence that stops him from understanding he was never out of the simulation. - When Caleb is said to have 'jumped,' it wasn't from one instance to another, but instead a real suicide caused by his adverse reaction to moving to a new instance. This would explain why we never see him again after the appearance of Alex, who explains Caleb was wandering around without crying out or asking for help (indicative of severe shock). - System might actually know what makes kids love the taste of cinnamon toast crunch.

Whether it's the actor taking for granted that the script says nobody notices them and goes around clacking doors shut, or an overzealous foley guy adding STOMP STOMP footsteps over a catburgler, it's like most media has a total lack of regard for the importance of silence when you're sneaking around

Unfortunately I think this series has many pitfalls of first time college aged film makers: scenes lasting too long, leaning on cool visuals, and a convoluted storyline. They’re forgetting about the viewer. I’ll be interested in another update, but there’s too many unanswered questions so far into the series to have the energy to keep up. I hope the series gets cleaner, tighter and more concise for the viewers sake.

I appreciate how high budget and gorgeous this series is. its amazingly shot and edited this is. But man, is this series really really boring. The premise is explained pretty quick with very little mystery, then the things they do keep mysterious i don't feel engaged with or interested in discovering. The biggest mystery is discovering why the system reset and that ends up being explained with the best sequence in the series, but at the same time doesn't make a lot of sense. Who are these people and why are they doing what they are doing? This series feels like they had a cool and interesting premise but never really wrote a plot to develop.

A lot of times I end up ding a bit of my own watching/exploring, jumping around and being able to stay engaged because I've already been told what to look for and pay attention to. I always felt so guilty for being unable to stay hooked on things that I loved, but your channel lets me be a part of these worlds without having to fight my desire to multitask or fidget while watching.

I get that budgets are limited or nonexistent with these kinds of things, but I do wish 98% of them didn't have completely unremarkable footage and then some weird glitch/text overlay at the end. I don't need to watch a guy walk down a staircase for 3 minutes followed by him ordering a pizza and then a tiny camera glitch followed by "DO NOT LOOK LOL" -- it just kind of feels like I'm wasting my time after you've seen so many of them. A lot of these also really stretch things out with months or even years of the "plot" stuck in neutral, with absolutely nothing happening or just nonsense filler that's supposed to be intriguing. I guess it's part of the genre now, but it'd be nice if more series planned most of the events out ahead of time (and maybe even filmed it all within a few weeks/months then drip fed it over a period of time) so that it wouldn't feel like so much nothing happening. This isn't even a complaint specific to this series (I'm only 27 minutes in to NM's video) although it does appear to have some of that going on, I just think back to every spooky series I've seen and they all seem to be guilty of this. I even started to grow tired of it with Marble Hornets, which felt like it was going in circles for a thousand years before kind of ending on a wet fart that was only a little better once you saw a video like NM's that pieced everything together since I had forgotten half the series' details by the time it ended. Sorry, just had to get a little rant out. So much potential with these things.

I kinda like the audio distortions- in other stories, they're just inconvenient to us and nothing else- here, with the revelation the system is Amy- and the logo for the system is a side turned A, suggests that Amy is our Habit, so to speak. She's editing what we see and hear, possibly? And so the errors are always there to keep us from hearing something important. My thought is this: There is a deep rabbit hole, and it's because there's recursion- their simulated world itself contains simulated worlds. I guess you could think of it like this: they made a VR world and populated it, and made themselves users inside of it to manage/manipulate it within the simulation. In order for the simulation to be perfect, the simulated world itself has a simulated simulation. The Abigail and Caleb we meet are within some level of the recursion- Abigail and Caleb are users and management overseeing the simulation, but within the simulation of a simulation, they are the simulated Abigail and Caleb overseeing their own micro-simulation. This goes down several levels, but our Abigail and Caleb are able to recognize it, and knowing how their own simulation works, are able to affect the simulation around them. Caleb is able to hack into the control room with a printout of the code and settings from the office building within his sim. This plot is about simulants being several levels deep, and the sheer level of recursion is causing major glitches. instead of different timelines as seen in EverymanHybrid, we're seeing different layers of a recursive simulation. The Caleb who first meets Abigail (who is reading from a script) is a different Caleb from the one she's expecting- because he's from another layer of the simulation, which is what spurs her to work with him, because she realizes this means that she's in a lower level of the sim than she thought. Internal Management is the program they themselves use to police their smaller simulation, and now realize that by messing around with their world, they're at risk of being pruned off by their internal management. Let me try and explain this a little better. Let's say you make a video game, and within that video game you have a character based on you, that makes a video game. Character in the bottom layer finds out that he's in a video game...and is horrified, intrigued, whatever. He wants to go somewhere or do something, but he's not in charge of the simulation, he's only a character. However, he notices that he has his own game he's making...and it's not unreasonable to assume it's same as the one he's in. So he looks at his code, and realizes he can get somewhere he shouldn't be able to go by looking at the code of his own game- the key to the office building is 3756, because, in his game, it's also 3756. He goes next door, and sure enough, it unlocks. Proving he's in a simulation, and that he can affect his own gameworld to an extent. If he wanted to escape the simulation, the best way would be to look at his own lower simulations to find the info he needs he couldn't normally get within his sim. He might do this by messing with his simulation and observing the results- placing characters somewhere else, giving HIS version of the simulation extra information, giving his lower self something useful to set them on a given path, so that he can use that info to escape. But then he finds that he's also given himself the things that he gave his lower self, and realizes how exactly deep the rabbit hole is... I think Ryan cheated creating Tyler....by coding into his lower simulation the perfect boyfriend. We got two Ryans, because one Ryan is the simulated Ryan, and the other is the Uber-Ryan who tweaked the simulation to give himself a boyfriend.Two recursion levels down, we've got a problem, because there's a Tyler that exists because the Ryan a level up created him, but this means that Ryan himself HAS a boyfriend and isn't going to program himself a boyfriend in his simulation, but because Tyler seemingly always existed, he thus is also recreated in this Ryan's version of the simulation-so we have Tyler who comes from nothing. This causes a degree of paradox, some major glitches, and the system begins to quarantine or shut down to find the error. Caleb finds out somethings wrong when he meets Tyler, and realizes there's something wrong with the sim. He goes to find Abigail, who herself is set up to work with and manipulate the simulated Caleb. But as the session is corrupted, he's able to not only be aware that he's in a session, but also point out that she too, is in a session, and thus they work together to try and save their reality- try to save it by fixing the "Tyler" error before their session is shut down- cut off the infinitely recursive branches. Caleb's plan is to break into a debug room built into the sim, one he knows about because he knows about the one in his sim, and use that to fix their simulation from the inside, saving them from deletion. I believe the PRIME version of reality is in that office warehouse that Caleb, Abigail, Jasper, et al go into- that is the company headquarters of the business that runs the virtual simulation, and that Caleb, Abigail, Mitchell, and co all work there and it's where their server room is. So just like Pokemon, you can go into their office and view the computers, design notes, and even the server space that was used to make the world around you...and even unplug the server you're on. It also means it's a safe place to put debug systems in because a superuser or admin entering the sim would know where to go and how to access it, but because of recursion, Caleb can find and access it, as explained above.

This makes so much sense, especially with the repeated themes of "screwing up our world"- something horrible happened in the main reality, causing them to lock themselves down somewhere secure and simulate themselves in a new world. However, they manage to manipulate and mess it up anyways, causing them to go further down into new worlds to try and fix it, but just causing new issues every time. Nothing is left unfucked.

I think Ryan WAS woken up - or rather, is in the process of it. He's becoming increasingly aware of what's happening as the series goes on and his world bugs out more, which is exactly what we heard would happen to him near the start so it shouldn't be surprising. I don't see any reason to believe he was awake from the start; toward the beginning when we heard him talking with apparent lucidity, it was probably foreshadowing or even a recording of him BEFORE going into the machine. At most, maybe he was starting to experience moments of lucidity and those moments have simply become longer and clearer for him over time. Either way it seems pretty clear that he's waking up over time. The real twist is that Amy, Ryan's apparent sister, is actually the AI for the VR machine. If you go back and look at some earlier things through this lens, it becomes a very different story from what it would have led you to believe early on. Also note that someone - probably Amy - issues a command to FORCE Ryan to say that she "is everywhere." The program clearly wants him to be entirely aware.

Great cameras, great camerawork, not paranormal for once: I'm so into this. =D That looping video near the end was my absolute favorite. It was shot unbelievably well. If I was to venture a theory, we know Sunrise is important, at least to Alex. We have the countdown, we have the student film, and Everything is Sunrise. We also know from the client testimony that clients can create a perfect life for themselves and then live it without knowing it was prefabricated. What if Sunrise is--or was--the perfect life Alex was creating for himself? Tyler was a part of it, after all, until that character was deleted in Caleb's reboot. Maybe the simulation has to run a certain amount of time to gather/calibrate data before it can enact the presubmitted fantasy? This could be why Abigail and Caleb sometimes know about Alex and what's going on. It's not a perfect theory, but it's what was going through my head towards the end of the vid. Who knows? I'm interested. =D
