@@douglasharvey8331 Going back would be pointless, if I couldn't retain the knowledge I have now. Seems logical that it would cost something. One loss would be, the loss of children. They simply would not exist. That would make it an extremely hard decision. Setting aside all family outside of parents & siblings. What would you be willing to sacrifice? The value of the loss being contingent upon, the amount of knowledge you would retain. Everything is on the table. Example: Using the knowledge to buy stocks. This would in all likelihood, make you extremely wealthy. Would you sacrifice, one or both of your parents, your sibling/s. One of your 5 senses. Maybe what specific memories you could choose to retain. Seems logical that a vast majority. Would not want to retain, painful experiences. This would directly effect the knowledge, that you would be able to retain.

My wife passed away in 2021 after 42 years of _happy_ marriage, and I read your comment and have felt and do feel everything you're going through, and I wouldn't wish this on anybody. It's so very painful. It's one of the reasons this song came to mind this evening and I had to rehash the lyrics -- because they're more poignant now than when I first heard it in 1976. It's true - I can't stop thinking about my precious Mindy; I don't _want_ to. I love her and miss her too much. Over time I'm learning to live with it but I'll never "get over it." We'll both see the loves of our life again; but our hearts won't be full until then.

To the lady I did have and is now in God's House -- the lyrics are more poignant than they were when the song first came out, which was barely a year before I started dating my wife. If I'm reading between the lines correctly I'm assuming the lady you'll never have you'll never have coz she's taken. That's a whole 'nuther kind of pain. Either that or none have ever measured up, in which case it's never too late.
