I love Nights for it's design and character. It's also insanely overlooked, even for SEGA game standards. I got nostalgia from seeing the two games and I once wished to meet Nights in my dreams when I was younger. Glad to see it get some attention.

I loved the AI they built for the elf-like Nightopians. If you watch closely, you can see them do different things depending on the level - and the way you treat them (helping their eggs hatch vs. vortexing them, saving them from monsters or not) changes the music in the levels. They remember how you've treated them when you replay levels too.

I did get this game for steam, and boy was it an experience. Even though I played JOD first i'm glad I got to experiences this classic. Also the bosses were interesting too, Gillwing and Reala gave me trouble, the others not so much.

I enjoy the detail that it's an alarm clock chasing you when you're playing as the kids, either by exploring too much or running out of time as Nights. It perfectly captures the feeling of my alarm going off in the morning with its awful noise. Lol.

Really enjoyable video. I know NiGHTS is usually seen as "non-binary" but I always considered him to be a kind of... "super binary" if anything. The character is meant to be seen as your own interpretation when he shows up in your dreams. It's why I've been saying "he/him" since I've always seen him as a somewhat flamboyant, playful male character. But seeing a female wouldn't be considered wrong since there's no definitive answer. Non-binary would imply NiGHTS has no gender, when the reality is he has both of them.

I was first introduced to the Nights character from playing Sonic Riders but didn’t know anything about the games. This game looks a lot of fun and the concept is very interesting. Great review and congrats on 7K+ subscribers!!

So I'm over $700 deep into trying to rebuild a Sega Saturn collection, and so far I've got 13 games for it. Nights was the first game I got for it, and it kept crashing. Now I've had to send it off for repairs. I got to play Christmas Nights once.

I got Saturn years later and quickly found out, it will be pricey to enjoy some of its best games. $700 is barely scratching the surface. ESPECIALLY if you're like me and love shoot em ups. Either way, Saturn is in my top 3 best retro systems of all time.

How are you? :) What did you get for your birthday? :) I’ve finished playing this game for the billionth time and now I’m playing the sequel Journey of Dreams for the billionth time too! 😜😂 Lemme tell you my little history with NiGHTS! 😃 I may of realised that they were THERE since Casinopolis from Sonic Adventure 1 and again! All the Cameos in Adventure 2! I’ve always been such a modest Sonic fan for 27 years! 😃😃 Anyway! But I didn’t start to care for the NiGHTS until 2003, via Sonic Spinball and I REALLY started caring for Sega’s other Franchises in 2004 because of Sega Super Stars for the PS2! Ok, tell a slight lie! I might of had a go at Ristar via Sonic Mega Collection when I was 12 or 13! Anyway! That’s irrelevant! Back to NiGHTS! I worked my way backwards with NiGHTS! I played Journey of Dreams first! I got it for the Wii when I was 17 then I got the original for my Xbox 360 in round about 2013.

9:05 oh.... yeahhhhhhhhhhhh! lith harbor from maple. And the soundtrack overall have that god tier maple feeling to it. Something you didn't see everyday. I do just love the maps on this game, like, really... I don't like too much the level design position to each object because it confuses the route a little bit, but anyway, after some time we get used to it. What the game have to me, it's a very strong atmosphere feeling to it. The background, the things inside it. oh man, love that

Sonic is playable in Christmas NiGHTS and Christmas NiGHTS _is_ in the 2012 version. He should be in there. Maybe it's in Saturn mode only? edit: Christmas isn't playable with Saturn mode, and looking it up, Sonic is gone. Lame-o :(

TBH, I have no idea why it's so popular. To me it just seems like a 2.5D Superman64. And it doesn't help that you don't even know what the funk is going on because of Yuji's trademark "Show don't Tell" technique. To me, this game is a lucid fever dream. But this is just my opinion. Please don't crucify me.

Id say its much different than comparing it to Superman 64. If the game feels like a lucid fever dream, then id say they did exactly what they set out to do. I get it if people dont like this game, as its not for everyone. But at the same time, I dont think it really needs too much fleshing out. The Wii version of the game basically ruined everything charming about NiGHTS when they did that.
