Nightwing is the GREATEST Batman Character

I love Dick. Even when I was little I liked Dick the most. The way Dick flips around and hits people in their faces with that stick is so iconic. I remember seeing Dick for the first time and saying to myself “whoa Dick is hard af”. And Dick only really gets better with age. As a Red Hood fan (he’s my favorite DC character along with Dick), I wholeheartedly agree. Imo they need to keep him away from the batfamily, it already pushes him into an awkward status quo that never really fits his character. They either make him stop killing, which treats his philosophy as if it’s 100% in the wrong when he’s quite frankly right, or they make him be on really uneasy and uncomfortable terms with his other batfamily members. Just let him do his own thing and lead his own team or something, or just let him go solo.

You can’t have a hero who kills super villains when he is just killing random goons. The Punisher and Moon Knight solve this issue however, as those characters have their own rouges gallery. Whereas Red Hood is tied to the Batman mythos, and no matter what happens, they’re not gonna kill off the Joker or etc to further Jason’s character. It’s just unfortunate, cause clearly the character hasn’t had a solid vision since his initial comeback. I hope one day they’ll find out something for Jason, but I know this sounds harsh, but it’s probably best to retire him until we get a solid idea that their willing to go with

@@joeker5208 Honestly, I think the concept they had with his outlaws run (where it’s him, bizarro, and Artemis) was pretty solid. Just the three of them dealing with villains and working through their personal issues. Honestly, they need to give him his own cast of deplorable villains. It’s a lot easier to reconcile with him killing the random Goons when they’re working for a person that’s pure evil, not just some random crime boss. If you make it clear the goons are evil themselves and also terrible people, it’s not as much of a problem. Another solution is for him to be more non-lethal with the goons, and mainly focus on killing the actual bosses. Either one works. Though ultimately you’re right, his constant connection to the Batman mythos is always gonna keep him in an awkward loop. I just think they really need to give him time as a solo act. Give him his own villains and give him his own city like Nightwing. He really needs some Nightwing treatment.

The one thing I love about Nightwing is that he actually surpassed Batman as a hero unlike his other Bat family compatriots by doing what Batman was either afraid to do or couldn't do in the first place like actually allowing himself to be in a loving relationship and fight crime at the same time (Catwoman only really went after Batman just for his money, I mean she has screwed him over multiple times in different adaptations) or taking down his parents' killer (which is what Batman couldn't do in some adaptations). Hell, you know he's a great superhero when he's the leader AND strategist of a team as well as gaining the respect of JL members way older than him.

I know you mention in it in this, but the first two seasons of young justice go down in my book as some of the best DC content. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Dick Grayson, but Tim Drake will always be my favorite-and personal best imo-Robin to Batman. He's the one true second coming of Bruce Wayne in detective skills, intellect, and work ethic, but not as 'broken' as Bruce. More level-headed. At least, that's the Tim I remember from before the New 52 Reboot over ten years ago. How is he now in the comics? I can't speak on, but that's the wonderful thing about comics: we get to talk about characters' eras and development over the course of decades, and arcs, not just as they are right now.

@@huntertezz Connor for sure would right up there. Cassandra is written to be higher and some of the bat family even Bruce thinks she’s superior and she has beaten some of them but never when they are trying to kill each other. I don’t think she has the experience or physicality even with how she was raised to beat the people above her more times than they’d beat her. That’s just my opinion. I don’t mind her being higher than everybody in the bat family she’s pretty much her mother but potentially better.

Doug Moenchs run on batman (pre-crisis and post) are my fave runs. Where Doug always writes Bruce as a good but struggling father that does his best. Please do a segment on Green Lantern John Stewart. His history has a lot to offer. From comics legend Len Wein introducing him to the Justice League. The epic Steve Englehart/Joe Staton/Bruce Patterson GL run in the ‘80’s. The acclaimed JUSTICE LEAGUE series. And the upcoming LANTERNS. GL Stewart is on the rise. Side note: it was Englehart who pushed to make John a full time Lantern.
