@KattCynisk Thank you. :) Adding up, she is a mezzosoprano singing the part of a soprano in the older songs.. it is only through the modern singing technique that she can even force herself to hit the highest notes, strained as the result may sound, but a classical mezzosoprano would be lost there already.

most of these trolls arround here dont have a fucking clue how hard it is to sing a piece with vocals like in Amaranth live. singing live means u often have weird sounds on in-ear-mon or stage monitors. if you have backing vocals on you monitor u can easily get lost and just sing along the backing. tone jumps are tough to articulate cause u got feedback plus weird reverb from the PA.singing on a stage at a open air festival is for every musician a tough job.

I honestly don't understand all of this Annette hate from Tarja trolls. Annette clearly has a very good sense of pitch and breath control, she can move between registers easily (see: 3:40 ). I understand the shocking s and drastic change from say Operatic goodness(Tarja) to Rock/Metal/not classical goodness(Annette). I also understand why some people get upset over her singing "old" nightwish's material, but that doesn't mean she fucking sucks. Annette is better than MANY live singer.

@Alextheanarchist Ozzy doesn't have any backing vocals. I have seen him enough times. I'm not saying Annette is using one, but the backing vocals are playback. The drummer has earphone in his ear with a metronome that the whole bands playing too.

BTW EcoFascist, I think the songs on DPP were first written for Tarja, then rewritten for Marco once they fired her. Amaranth was originally called Reach, and you can find it on KZbin. It's sung by Marco, and you can see that Tarja would have sang it a bit differently, but probably would have been a REAL nice song with her as the vocalist. Here's Reach with Marco singing it. Poor Anette... I'm glad she looks so happy in this performance, that's how it should be. Blaze Bayley didn't even come under this much fire when he replaced Bruce in Iron Maiden, and the shift in vocal style is almost exactly the same as Tarja's to Anette's. Of course she's not Tarja but the band wants her. It's their choice not yours. She doesn't deserve all the shit fans are giving her like that Brazil show where she cried (come on guys), but you can always count on Wacken fans to support you.

No, she doesnt. She wails alot, and it doesnt sync with the recorded vocals. But the high notes is absolutely her speciallity. And then it doesnt really matter if its "screams" or not. She hits the right notes at 100% (and many singers doesnt even handle that live), and as she does it with a "scream" just means that she have the power in her vocals to actually handle the high notes as well. Much better than fake-operatic Tarja who just can sing gently operatic and nothing else!

I'll say it again JAGHETERPERRA, Tarja was NOT being a bitch towards the band, it's them who were shunning her and wouldn't talk to her. The letter is full of misrepresentations and if you were to look into it yourself, you'd see that. She certainly didn't deserve the way the treated her, and didn't deserve being fired behind the stage at Hartwell after just putting on one of her best performances ever. She didn't deserve having her name dragged through the mud afterwards either.
