Wanna hear Marko sing some more? Try "While Your Lips Are Still Red" from Wembley, "Phantom of the Opera" or their Pink Floyd tribute "High Hopes", both from End Of An Era. Actually he sings in quite a lot of songs. Oh and Troy sings too. Check out "My Walden" from Wembley. Tuomas (the keyboarder and composer) sings, too, but he doesn't get a microphone :-P

Troy can play bagpipes , flutes, guitar and sings...Thomas, the keyboardist, composes the music and lyrics for 98% of the songs ... Marco plays bass and clean guitar and sings ... Empu the guitarist is very talented his solos are sprinkled in and not overdone but he can shred ... Kai the current drummer is excellent .....and well Floor is..Floor!

Oh, Troy can play everything. Really. I've seen him play Uillean Pipes (insanely hard to play sort of bagpipes), bozouki, electric guitar, flute and lots of other stuff. Marko plays guitar and base. Toumas plays keyboards usually, but he's actually a classically trained clarinet player. Jukka and later Kai are the drummers. Emppu plays the guitar.

Marco Hietala, the bass-guy, is also the second singer of the band. He does mostly backup voice singing and harmonizing, but he is also lead singer in several songs of the band: "The Islander" and "While Your Lips Are Still Red" are most known, but also "High Hopes", a cover of Pink Floyd they did in the End Of An Era 2005 concert. As a second voice he sang in many songs of the band: "Ghost River", "Ever Dream", "Romanticide", "Yours Is An Empty Hope", "Wish I Had An Angel".. "The Phantom Of The Opera".. there are sooo many!

“He sings? What the!” Oh, my dear... just you wait. Marko (the bassist) may take a back seat to Floor, but together they are one of the best duos out there. He has fronted his own band and has a solo album he just released as well. They have a perfect blend of contrast and complement to their voices and they are magical together. If you want to hear him lead a few songs with Nightwish, check out While Your Lips are Still Red or the Islander (live, ofc. Nightwish is at their best when playing for a crowd), and if you want to hear them sing together Song of Myself, Romanticide, Poet and the Pendulum, Devil and the Deep Dark Ocean, Last Ride of the Day, or Ave Maria are all fantastic.

Marco Hietala is a great singer. He's now on solo tour in Europe like Floor is also. He's leading also his own metal band Tarot. This "pop" song is may be a little easy to play for NW, so they have extra time here to make fun, notice like Jukka is fooling around his drumsticks much more that usually. If I remember correct, this song was quite s commercial success after release an they played it a lot on finnish mainstream radio channels. Good job CC.

Yes, this song was in radio here in Finland a lot. And still is. Also long time in KZbin, this official version was most played Nightwish song, around 105 000 000 views, but last year "Bye Bye Beautiful" went to number one, something 110 000 000 views in KZbin. Don´t know how it is now... Funny, both are from "Anette era"... BTW, this new single "Noise" is already 1 948 000 views in KZbin!

Thanks, once again nice reaction. Nightwish is greater than the sum of its parts. Every each of them shine, when they are doing something own project, Like Floor last Autumn/this winter. Marko his old band, or with Delain or now with his solo project. Or Tuomas with his solo project (Disney story, "soundtrack" to Uncle Scrooge) etc. And when they are together 1+1+1+1+1+1= not 6, not 12, not 24 something much much more. Wacken 2013, yes there was 82 000 people. And when you see those people here, might there is only 4-5 first rows Nightwish fans and rest are just who ever went to that festival (4 days, 50+ metal bands, biggest metal music festival in Europa). But how Nightwish catch all! You can see that "Nightwish effect" when looking "Ghost Love Score", there is this 1min part when whole band goes out from stage (orchestral music continues). And whole crowd, 82 000 people are silent... That is power of Nightwish, they are not at stage, but still they control audience!!! Marko, ou yes, he can sing, really versatile vocalist. Next Xmas, please do reaction to Ave Maria, a duet between Marko and Floor. You can see what two metal vocalist can do with this song. There is two good video in KZbin. Xmas 2017 and 2019. Maybe 2019 is better. But that next December. MArko has several song in Nightwish where he shines, but I ask from his first band, Tarot, song "Tides" live. Floor is the ultimate powerful woman! Such a role model for all young girls. Yes Marco the bassist sings. Now you need to hear a beautiful softer song which Marco sings and Floor backs him up. This song is called "Kiss While Your Lips are still Red". This was written as part of a soundtrack to a Finnish movie from 2007 called "Lieksa". I have put a short explaination of the possible meaning behind the words to this song. Also the lyrics so you can follow along. I think you will really enjoy it and be very surprised at how well Marco sings. Be well my friend. "While Your Lips Are Still Red" is a bit of a change around from the shrieking that Marco usually comes up with (who can forget his maniacal Phantom?). This is a rather gentle track and seems to have been based on a painting of an injured angel. Injured or fallen? Or simply love that's been broken? While the music and singing are all fantastic, the lyrics throw a few fantastic images. I'm really stuck by the lines, "Dark hair for catching the wind / Not to veil the sight of a cold world". Really rather than hind behind something we should be wanting to feel the wind in our hair. The "kiss while your lips are still red" may take on two different meanings, one while still very much full of life, the second as the injured lies dying. Either way I suppose it's all about taking love and life while it's still there and not waiting until it's far too late. They didn't even have a singer at the time Tuomas was writing the album, Dark Passion Play, so Marco did a lot of the demos until they hired Anette. I'll point you towards some of her once we get you a little further in if no one beats me to it. Tuomas does sing quite nicely, and did some of the male vocal parts on the really early albums, and I think he might have done a little on Imaginaerum. Just studio only though, as far as I know. We all love Marco, it's just people get really excited about Floor. Ghost Love Score ( well all of Wacken really ) was extremely emotional for her and the fans

That Guy can sing!? What... You are precious... In the other comments they already told you everything. I Just wanted to say that you only saw the softer side of NW, and of Floor. To see a more heavier and darker sound, and the greatness of Floor and Marco i would suggest 7 days to the Wolves and Yours is an Empty Hope. And ofc the Poet and the pendulum, but for that one you need to know more about NW and their story to fully aprecciate that Master piece . Great reaction as always

Amaranth is so perfectly fitted to Floor as this is from the first album with their "then new" singer Anette Olzon. The beginning of a shift in Nightwish's style, which was (and is) not apprechiated by some hardcore Tarja fans. But - no matter what you think of Anette as singer - the change in style would never have been possible with Tarja. And with Floor these songs shine in a way the original recordings with Anette unfortunately didn't. And - thanks to Anette - we got many great new songs - including The Greatest Show on Earth, the perfect recording being made in Tampere during their incredible live concert.

In my opinion this song is the weakest link out of all the ones they do live, so if you enjoyed it this much, then there is nothing stopping you now. And that was like a free sample of Marco for vocals. He is in the legend level for singing bassists. Even has a solo album out now, 'Pyre of the Black Heart' which is probably my favorite of the year so far. It is legit in every way.
