People associate Tuomas' lyrics too much with her and Tarja's relationship. Sure, there's a good amount of that in the songs too, but the vast majority of them, including this one, are about Tuomas' longing to go back in time to his childhood, because of his self-stated escapist nature (in fact, they have a song called "Escapist" that covers that in its entirety pretty well). And they do have songs about more specific topics as well. But I feel a lot of people try too hard to make everything he ever wrote seem like some kinda "hidden love letter" to Tarja. As I said, there's that stuff in there too definitely, but not nearly as much as people make it out to be. People are just bad at looking deeper into the lyrics. As far as a Tarja live song, I suggest "Slaying the Dreamer" from End of an Era. It's probably one of her better live performances. And unlike "Phantom of the Opera" which everyone keeps suggesting, it's actually their own song and has far more lyrical content to talk about.

On going down in the comments, I found that I'm the only one who loved both Tarja and Floor's version. Both have different textures. Where Tarja gives operatic feel on the other hand Floor gave her own clean vocals. The best thing about Floor is that she don't try to imitate Tarja.

Not sure about other festivals, but at Wacken they easily let you come back to the audience after crowdsurfing. It happens all the time and it's amazing. Only downside is having to look behind all the time to see if someone's coming

Maybe because Tarja has such a dark voice whereas Floor’s is brighter, or maybe because I like a mix of belting and classical unlike what Tarja does, but I prefer Floor. The beginning and ending (and the middle bit when it goes super soft) with Tarja sound grandiose, like an Empress but with Floor it sounds ethereal like a forest faery, and I prefer the ethereal option. Nobody come for me, this is all my preference. (But in songs like phantom of the opera, where it is meant to sound grand and bring down the opera house I love Tarja)

Yes yes YES! More and more Nightwish! I understand you want to do some with Tarja and you should! But you will not find any better frontwoman in rock or metal than Floor IMO. Her stage presence is absolutely untouchable. And that voice...... just wow!

Just a tip: Not all of their songs are about Christianity or Tomas and Tarja drama. This song was released in 2002. Tarja Turunen was in the band from 96-05 Anette Olzon was in the band from 07-12 Floor Jansen is in the band from 12-present

Unfortunately I missed the Tarja era because I didn't discover Nightwish until 5 years ago. I love this band, they are awesome live. I have seen them 4 times live! Most recently in March of this year. Thank you for reacting to them again. Oh, and a Nightwish audience is not a normal metal audience. I have been in the pit for all 4 shows and the crowd has been very courteous when it comes to letting people get their spot back after crowd surfing, or getting beer or going to the restroom. :D

Floor is an amazing singer, but The songs that were written while Tarja was in the band are written for her more operatic style. Sure Floor is great, but those songs were not written for her.

I got over the Beatles never getting back together, everybody take a deep breath and let it go, Tarja was the past and Flor is now. This doesn’t make it a this or that option, they are both awesome for their own reasons. Liking one shouldn’t make you hate the other. The constant comparisons belittle the band, the music, and the overall great experience of NightWish. I personally perfer Flor because she has a very versatile voice giving a more Rock vibe to their songs and that’s what “I” like. Every singer they’ve had has had certain songs that embraces their voice better than the others, enjoy the diversity.

Hello. Check out other Tuomas who is genius too. Tuomas Saukkonen and his band Wolfheart. The Flood would be good song to start 🙂 It started as a one man side project when he had 2 other bands to work on. On 1st album Tuomas played every instrument and produced it too. He also make Wolfheart's videos.

Floor Jansen is amazing but I liked After Forever better (her former band), you might want to check out "Monolith Of Doubt" or "Beautiful Emptiness", great songs. You need to do something with Tarja singing, "Phantom Of The Opera" is a good choice but I think you should do "Walking In The Air", I can't imagine that song being performed by anyone else, they have better songs but that one seems to be made exclusively for her. Please react to "Nothing Is Not" by Morbid Angel and "In Their Darkened Shrines" by Nile.

Tarja didn't leave, she was fired in quite a horrible way and this song is about Tuomas's longing for childhood. The line "Why am I loved only when I'm gone" is about the fact that most adults look back on their childhood with nostalgia but as children we don't really know how to appreciate our lives, children are always talking about wanting to grow up and doing 'adult' things so for me this song is about people looking back at the earlier years with love and appreciation for what they've lost: innocence, wonder, curiosity, seeing the world in a certain way. "Bless this child for they don't know what they have until it's gone." If you wanna do a Tarja song, maybe do Gethsemane (this is my all-time favourite NW song) or Swanheart.

Relationship issue is not comfrmed in any reliable sources. I don't believe that thing as it has veen put here. Child here might be him or even Nightwish. This song is made after Marceli joined as Tarja's husband and manager. Then the problems began with management. This album Century Child has many references to his feelings that the band has lost their innocence and they were close to quit after that tour before this album. Tarja waa kicked out because of her actions and Marcelos greedy attitude. They had to cancel shows by those two. That was the last drop. It was actually Marco (the bassist) that said first out loud the they have to get rid of those two if they want to continue.

Floor is one of the best, it not, the best female singer from the Netherlands. She leaves all other female pop, r&b, rock and metal singers from the Netherlands far behind. She is also very versatile, from operatic to growling. She can do it all. And metal people really are that relaxed. Even the regular joe can move through the crowd saying excuse me or a friendly hand on the shoulder. 99% of the people will let you pass. The more aggressive the music,the more relaxed the people are.
