Only a band like Nightwish could mix Tongan choir, 80s sounds and melodic metal.

First of all - I love your outfit. Second thing - beautiful reaction, and yes, this song definitely has 80s vibe. And third thing - this is probably my favorite song from the whole album. Best regards from Croatia 🤟

This song evokes so overwhelming emotions in me just by thinking of it. The whole album is amazing, but this one, the message and how it's delivered, has earned a very special place in my heart.

One of my favorites from the album. The Tongan at the beginning was sung by a separate choir than the rest of the album. The singers , I think, were Tongan , or of Tongan descent, or something like that. I hadn't heard the story either until this song.

Great review Nikki! The albumn is so versatile and every song is so unique that I can't prefer one to another. I find myself humming one of them, later another one, the third and so on...

The beautiful mini Floor! 🌹🌹Definitely one of my favorites from the record. I had never heard this story. Another one that will be great live. Whenever that may happen. It would be amazing if they invited the Tongan singers to participate on some of the shows.

Tuomas wrote about the book "The Lord of the Flies" in "An Ocean Of Strange Islands". This song is about the children of Ata, a similar situation (a group of boys stranded on an Island) but with a more positive ending: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tongan_castaways

This is one of my favorite songs. Elan and alpenglow vibes. A little bit of tgsoe too. Love it. The story behind it is fascinating too. The next song is my favorite though. Even though it's very hard to define in this album.

Another excellent track. I love this album. Tuomas says this is the standout track. "“The Children of ‘Ata,” track seven, particularly excited Holopainen. Based on a true story of children stranded on a desert island who cooperated to survive, it challenges the “Lord of the Flies” narrative. “It turned out even better than I expected,” Holopainen enthused." Quote:"There's a song on the album called The Children Of 'Ata, which is a wonderful story of these kids on a deserted island and surviving there for 15 months. I heard the story and thought, 'There has to be a way to put this into music.' "It's a crazy story, from not that long ago, 1965. I think some of the kids are still alive. It's important to tell these stories, because it really did happen. And maybe it can change the human perspective of the concept that if you take a bunch of people and put them into an isolated place for a certain period of time, they become savages. But this is proof that that's not the case. So they are a perfect example that humankind has hope."

Yes, I said that I have a problem with this album, and the more I listen to it, I'm sure of it. When you react to the song Hiraeth, pay attention to 3.22. I have never heard a more beautiful transition in music. Greetings from Serbia. Your reactions are impressive.❤

There`s a movie about this story calle "Lord of the Flies". Great job on your costume, and if you want to do somethin cool for Halloween, listen to the 30th of oct. 1938 Orson Welles broadcast War of the Worlds, it caused mass panic in north America and around the World in 1938.You can also listen to Jeff wayne`s musical version, which is symphonic metal and there`s a live concert version. And it would be something you can broadcast on Hellnight, if you want. Both are on line. As Floor would say "The Children of Ata kicks ass".

Lord of the Flies is a different story altogether
@pierremichaud60852 ай бұрын
I guess I should`ve said it was based on the same story, Lord of the Flies kids where white caucasion that came from an Australian mainland school opposed to Islander natives out fishing, but the idea is the same and I haven`t watched that movie since the 80s.
@kimmomatikainen18432 ай бұрын
@@pierremichaud6085 Like the earlier commenter wrote, these are not the same stories. You have the timeline wrong. Book "Lord of the Flies" was written in 1950's (1954 I think) and the shipwreck of the children happend in 1965. If these stories were related, then these Tongan children should have read the book and shipwreck on purpose to experience the book. Since the book was written earlier, it could have not been inspired by the story of shipwrecked children. The movie was done based on the book like many movies are.
@pierremichaud60852 ай бұрын
@@kimmomatikainen1843 Before they shot the movie the producers hired one of the members as a consutant and he showed them all th ways on how they survived in which they used in the movie. Tuomas knew this that why there`s a hint of Lord of the Flies in the song of strange islands.
@kimmomatikainen18432 ай бұрын
@@pierremichaud6085 Film "Lord of the Flies" was done in 1963 and this shipwreck happened in 1965. So you are talking about movie that was made in 1990. It is still based on the booked and not based on the shipwreck. Otherwise it would not be called Lord of the Flies. Of course there is connection because those two stories are very similar with very different outcome of course. Maybe Ocean of Strange Islands has a reference to actual Lord of the Flies and then he made a separate song about the shipwrecked children. Well, it doesn't really matter. Just wanted to point out that Lord of the Flies and shipwreck stories are two separate things and neither of those inspired the other one. Lord of the Flies is a fictional book.

The only song of the album I really like. I wish we had gotten a whole album of songs of this type. It's innovative and yet I would still consider it a classic Nightwish song.
