And thank you for checking this legendary band, performing in front of a 82k+ people, at Wacken Open Air festival, in 2013. Since this is your first Nightwish experience, I'll give you the short history of the band concentrated by Ann Waychoff, one of the biggest Nightwish fan: " Nightwish was started in 1996.They are considered a Symphonic Metal band, with a female main singer. They are from Finland. Tuomas Holopainen, the keyboard player, composes and writes the lyrics for 95% of their music. Marco Hietala is the Bassist and vocals .And there is the guitarist Emppu Vuorinen . Then there is Troy Donockley from UK who is a multi-instrulmentalist and vocals. Jukka Nevalainen is the drummer. In 2015 due to Jukka's health issues Kai Hahto became the drummer and as of now is a permanent addition. Nightwish has had three singers. 1st one was Tarja Turunen (Operatic vocals). She was with them until 2005. The 2nd one was Anette Olzon from Sweden (Poppy, strong vocals). She was with them until 2012.The 3rd and current singer is Floor Jansen, from Netherlands (power, operatic, soprano.....most versatile) - you just heard her. There are live concerts that you should use depending on what era. From Wishes to Eternity and End of an Era (Tarja), Montreux Festival live 2012 and Exit Festival (Anette), Live at Wacken 2013, Live at Wembley, Live at Tampere, Vehicle of Spirit, Decades live (Floor). The premier European metal concert is held each year in Wacken, Germany. NW is a great live performance band and their live performances often outshine the studio recordings. The Wacken sound system is much better than most concert venues so you will receive many requests for the Wacken recordings versus other venues that are more recent performances. Floor, the lead singer was fairly new to the band at the time of the Wacken 2013 performance and she is still with them today. She performs in many different styles but if you want to check out a few heavier NW songs try "Romanticide" "Ghost River" and "Song of Myself" from Wacken 2013 or "Devil and the Deep Dark Ocean" Buenos Aires 2018 Live.

@@GTReactions - As far as I know, it was always the intention to record the Wacken concert for a DVD & CD release, so everything was rigged for that. All microphones and instruments are not just plugged in to the amplifiers but also hard-wired straight in to the recording equipment. Yes, Wacken has a good sound system, not to say world class. If you pause when the whole stage is in the picture you can sometimes see a coupe of long curved things on both sides of the stage, one to the left and one to the right. A sound tech explained to me that they are called Line Arrays, it's basically a large number of speakers stacked one on the top of the other (is it 20 or 21 on both sides, at this concert?). They improve the sound quality a lot, especially for people standing far away from the stage. They also make it louder close to the stage, so on a personal note I'd say it's a good idea to use earplugs like many in the crowd do. Line Arrays that big (high) should be seen as a warning signal, as in "You should wear earplugs during this concert". Even if you have the High-Spec barrier plugs that lowers the sound with 30-40 dB you can still feel the music in your whole body, and you can talk to your friends in a normal voice after the concert. [tip: you can space to stop/play, arrow keys to rewind and control volume of YT videos, it's handy] ;) THIS IS Her Majesty Northern Valkyrie Goddess Floor Jansen (pronounced Yansen, she is Dutch). Floor has classical background, rock academy behind, and used to be a vocal coach for a number of years. Floor is the most versatile and powerful female singer today and can sing anything from more pop-y style, classic opera, to metal screams and growls. Floor sings emotions, not words. Floor joined Nightwish in the middle of their Imaginaerum world tour in late 2012 (which includes this show from August 2013). Previous singer, Anette Olzon (she's currently in Dark Element) left the band while they were touring, and there was no certainty what to do with all the upcoming shows. They called Floor (her previous band did tour with NW in the past, and they knew each other). Floor flew immediately to help them out and temporarily replace Anette for the rest of the world tour. She arrived two days before the next show, and she had only 48 hours to learn the entire setlist. And she did. After the world tour (in October 2013), they made Floor their official member. This song was performed at the end of 90min show, at the 1hr 10min mark. Nightwish formed in '96 in Finland, initially with Tarja (Tar-ya) Turunen as a vocalist. She left the band in 2005, and Anette Olzon stepped in, until 2012. The bassist with a cool beard is Marco, and he sings some parts too. He has his own solo project outside the Nightwish. The mastermind behind 99% of lyrics and music is a keyboardist Tuomas. Guitarist name is Emppu, and the drummer in this show is Jukka (Yukka), but later he was replaced by Kai Hahto because of health issues. Flutes/uilleann pipes/guitar/vocals - Troy, he did not perform in this song. Nightwish is better live, always, so if live performance is available, go for it. In their performances, they often using recorded backtrack of a classical orchestra for their songs. They have very diverse music, from more light songs to epic scores like this, and to really heavy metal stuff. Best method for reacting to Nightwish that I figured from watching reactors and discovering them recently and exploring their catalog myself: Keep the particularly long and complex songs listed below, if you have not watched them already, for after you have seen all the more standard ones from the 4 live shows mentioned in the numbered list: - The Poet and the Pendulum (Wembley) 14 minutes - Greatest Show on Earth (Tampere) 21 minutes 1- Just do all the Wacken 2013 songs, they are all great 2- Then the Wembley 2015 ones that are not part of the Wacken show 3- Then the remaining songs from Tampere 2015 that were not in the previous 2 shows mentioned 4- Then the older songs from Buenos Aires 2019 that were not in the previous 3 shows mentioned 5- To see what they can do with a cover and if you like Marco's singing, watch their interpretation of Pink Floyd's High Hopes 5- Then you can explore Floor's versatility with her band ReVamp's live performances of the songs Disdain at Graspop and Wild Card at Bloodstock 6- And finally go in the deep end of the Floor talent pool by reacting to her performances on Beste Zangers in the order the episodes aired From watching a lot of reactions, in my opinion this is the most efficient order to discover the rabbit hole that is Nightwish and Floor Jansen. Heya....Nice reaction! Ghost Love Score A great way to start of with this Awesome band. This is Nightwish a symphonic metal band from Finland, who started in 96 i guess. The singer is Floor Jansen, who is Dutch. This show they were headlining the festival in front of 82.000 people. Wacken is a small village in North Germany. Every year the festival is being held there! Nightwish has a wide library 9 studio albums +/- 125 songs. There were in the years 3 singers, 2 drummers and they added 1 multi instrumentalist. Don't get me wrong on the studio albums this band is Good. But Nightwish is so much better Live! This show Wacken 13, pick a song any song and you are in for a treat. London 15 and Tampere 15 Buenos Aires 18 are also worth checking out 7 Days to the Wolves London 15 is 1 of my favorites next to the Big 3 which Ghost love Score is 1 of. Also there is The Poet and the Pendulum (London 15) which imo is their best song. And you have the Greatest show on Earth (Tampere 15) Also you could check out Romsnticide, Storytime, Yours is a Empty Hope....🤘 Have Fun and Enjoy this journey if you choose to wander it. Wacken (Germany) is one of the biggest metal-festivals worldwide (~82.000 visitors): If you take a closer look at the infield, you can see the "moon-like" lights in the background... and yes - people enjoying from back there to the stage. Ah. And there's your reaction to The Queen. The 6 foot(1,83 m) tall Valkyrie. Versatile, powerful, and perfectly in control of her voice and her crowd. She can do opera, she can do rock, she can growl... It slices, it dices. Just perfect. We have not seen such a mix of classical training for opera and such an instinctive understanding of rock since the last queen of rock - Freddie Mercury.

Thanks for recommending man...mid 90s I gave up on the direction that rock was going...I stumbled across this genre with at the time my mid teenage son who loves this as well....I was 50 at the time(2010) now 60 and still ticking...not about to stop now...live in utah as a trucker and i listen a bit to all genres that my son presents me and I'd like to introduce you to him....any tracks we could listen to of yours...thanks again brother...absolutely love what you bring...like you looking for new stuff we to look...stay safe

Great enthusiasm. It's obvious you are really getting into the music. Thank you for rewinding a few seconds each time you stopped the video. However, I feel you stopped far too many times which broke any sort of flow in the song. But thinking about what you said about how the last several years your ears are used to rap and hip hop I would imagine you are used to hearing music it short phrases and soundbites. Them being symphonic metal allows them to take their music in several different directions. They have the long epic multipart full production type songs like Ghost Love Score, The Poet and the Pendulum or The Greatest Show on Earth.. Then they have several of the more classic thrash heavy metal style songs like Romanticide, Song of Myself or Dark Chest of Wonders.. They even have a very celtic rock sound going on in songs like E'lan or My Walden.. You chose, but the Nightwish Army loves it all..

i was there back in 2013 when this got recorded. this was their first show with her new singer in Germany. There were 82k people back then. Wacken is the biggest european metal festival. it was just insane. almost hypnotising man.

Enjoyed your show very much ! I love watching people experience Nightwish, Within Temptation,Rammstein...So happy my sons introduced me to all those bands in the last few years. They owed me, after all, I, as Father, taught them the joys of Pat Benatar, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Rush, Santana, Fleetwood Mac, etc....so they repaid me quite well. :) Please consider doing Rammstein's live version of Ich Tu Dir Weh or Engel from their Madison Square Garden performance a few years ago.

next Nightwish : The poet and the pendulum at Wembley. Context to this song: the first singer of the band (Tarja Turunen) who was also chilhood friends with Tuomas (Keys & compositor) left/was kicked in a very bad way. After that, Tuomas went into a depression and had a really hard time. He says he commited suicide in the song instead of phisically. The song is long but it´s worth it : rough, slow, fast, sweet, dark....
