Hello Heidi [ HailHeidi ] ! Nightwish fan here, your musical quest summoned me. Welcome to the world of symphonic metal! And thank you for checking this legendary band! This live recording is from Wacken Open Air 2013, together with Floor Jansen [pronounced Yansen], the 3rd and present female singer of the band, in front of an 82K audience. About the instrumental and vocal added parts - it's good to know they recorded their orchestral and vocal back tracks with prestigious institutions as London Philharmonic Orchestra. London's The Metro Voices choir group and London's Young Musicians Children's Choir as their regular partners. Since this is your first Nightwish reaction, it is my duty to give you the [updated] short history of the band concentrated by Ann Waychoff, one of the biggest Nightwish fan who has since passed away (and I am doing this in her memory): " Nightwish was started in 1996.They are considered a Symphonic Metal band, with a female main singer. They are from Finland. Tuomas Holopainen [pronounced Tuo-mas], the keyboard player, composes and writes the lyrics for 95% of their music. [Sami Vanska was the bassist of the band starting with their 2nd studio album, he was with them until 2001. Then Marco Hietala was bassist and vocals, since 2001 to 2020. He recently announced his retirement both from the band and the public life for the next year at least. Then in May 2021 Jukka Koskinen [pronounced Yukka] became the bassist of the band, for the Human :II: Nature tour - and recently, the band announced he became a permanent member] And there is the guitarist Emppu Vuorinen [he also recorded the bass lines for their 1st studio album]. Then there is Troy Donockley from UK who is a multi-instrumentalist and vocals. Jukka Nevalainen [pronounced Yukka] is the drummer. In 2015 due to Jukka's health issues Kai Hahto became the drummer and as of now is a permanent addition. Nightwish has had three singers. 1st one was Tarja Turunen [pronounced Tarr-ya] (Operatic vocals). She was with them until 2005. The 2nd one was Anette Olzon from Sweden (Poppy, strong vocals). She was with them until 2012.The 3rd and current singer is Floor Jansen, from Netherlands (power, operatic, soprano.....most versatile) - you just heard her. There are live concerts that you should use depending on what era. From Wishes to Eternity and End of an Era (Tarja), Montreux Festival live 2012 and Exit Festival (Anette), Live at Wacken 2013, Live at Wembley, Live at Tampere, Vehicle of Spirit, Decades live (Floor). I hope this helps. I want to welcome you to the Nightwish community. I hope you like them enough to continue the journey. Believe me Nightwish will surprise you with their songs. You will never know what to expect. They are unbelievable live. I want to warn you that Nightwish fans are hard core. So be prepared. lol " For an extended set of suggestion (with links), I posted 2 huge comments in the community tab in my main YT channel: www.youtube.com/@gabriel.bardac/community 🤘

The thing is... of all their years and concerts with Tarja and great songs they (or mainly Tuomas and Marko) wrote, after parting with both Tarja and Anette, Fans didn't expect too much from Nightwish anymore. I also grew up with Nightwish through my fathers music-taste since 2001. THIS first concert with Floor at Wacken was not just relief for the fans, it probably was the best concert the band ever played before and after. This was so pure, so full of love and respect for the bands history, Floor making a clear statement of not imitating any previous singer but letting her own style flow into each performance. I personally never "felt" Nightwish-Songs as much as with this concert.

Nightwish Shadow Unit from Estonia reporting in ! Valkyrie Goddess spotted ! Gabriel Bardac entered ! Floor her name is derived from the Roman Goddess of Spring, Flora. Floor Jansen is called the Valkyrie Goddess of Metal and Empathy. Floor Jansen is a soprano, with a range of more than 4 octaves (Eb2 to F6). She can sing from classical to belting and raspy vocals like screaming and death growls. And she's also a voice coach and teacher to boot. Plus, huge vocal nerd 😉. Floor Jansen was the singer of the Dutch metal band After Forever from 1997 to early 2009. From 1999 she studied at the Rockacademie in Tilburg, where she graduated in 2003. She studied musical theatre and a year of opera. In addition to her activities at After Forever, she gave singing lessons. She plays guitar, piano and flute. On May 5, 2010, she presented her new band ReVamp, which was disbanded in September 2016. From 1 October 2012 Jansen replaced Anette Olzon (Second singer of Nightwish after Tarja) as singer of Nightwish during the Imaginaerum World Tour (And she had to learn the setlist in 48h). On October 9, 2013, it was announced that she would be the group's regular new front singer. In 2015, Nightwish released the album Endless Forms Most Beautiful with Jansen as lead singer. Nightwish's second studio album with Jansen as front singer, Human. :II: Nature., was released in April 2020. And the master of this magic is: Our Metal Mozart Tuomas Holopainen (founder, leader, keyboardist, songwriter and the main composer for Nightwish) Tuomas the keyboardist writes about 95% of Nightwish songs, music and lyrics. He also composes the music for the backing track they use. It is recorded in London with musicians from The London Philharmonics. Pip Williams helps with the orchestration. There are two London based choirs too on the backing track, the other one is a children's choir. And of course with a synth you can do a lot. This was recorded at the 2013 Wacken (pronounced Vahken) Open Air festival in Germany in front of an audience of 82,000 people. The fiery bull head is the symbol of the festival. We hope, that there is more coming. NWSU/FloorFan 🤘😎🤘.

This is in fact the thirteenth song of this concert and the songs vary in style. Worth watching the opening song Dark Chest Of Wonders which was the first experience for most of the 82,000 crowd of Floor Jansen singing with Nightwish. She replaced the second singer, Anette Olzon, mid tour in the USA. And had only recently returned to Europe. They reintroduced this song as Floor loved it and could sing it unlike the previous pop style singer. She does give it more vocal colours than the first singer Tarja Turunen who is predominantly operatic in style. By the way, Floor Jansen has her own KZbin channel where she does some excellent covers, chats and vocal coaching and has just released a very different solo album called Paragon.

welcome to the fantastic symphonic metal universe of Nightwish Band, their live performances are some of the things that come so close to epic that they get to be mythical and of course Floor Jansen, queen of the stage and goddess of music, she can sing anything in any musical style she wants (WARNING! her voice, her stage presence, her charisma, in one word: her "spell" is highly addictive). this concert (wacken 2013) is incredibly epic and deserves to be watched and reacted entirely, song by song, in particular I suggest these three songs: "song of myself", "storytime" and "ever dream" this performance of "ghost love score" is one of the three best performances of the nightwish band, together with "the poet and the pendulum" from 2015 concert at the london wembley arena and "the greatest show on earth" from 2015 concert in tampere - finland (actually there is a fourth best performance: "dead boy's poem" from the 2018 concert in buenos aires).

There's a scientific reason behind the goosebumps some get, and also the sudden urge to shed tears. It'll only happen to people who are truly listening, and not distracted. Having a decent set of earphones definitely helps lol The sonic avalanche in the last minute or so is usually where it really hits. It is SUCH a rush, and it doesn't happen often. Just like some people can hit notes that can shatter glass, some singers sing in such a way that just weaves into your very soul. It's unnerving, but wonderful at the same time. It's not hard to tell that she really loves this song, and puts everything she has into it. The sign of a great singer isn't the notes they hit. It's the ability to make you feel what they feel.

This is an amazing song. I used to listen to Nightwish a lot about 20 years ago (until Tarja left) and picked them up again like 5-6 years ago. Floor joined in the meantime (2012 if I'm not mistaken). They kicked Anette (second vocalist) out during their world tour and asked Floor to fill in. She had to fly to the US and was learning the songs in the plane, she had 48 hours to do so before the next concert. After the tour she joined the band permanently. To me, a great move. I loved Tarja but to me Floor has the best suiting voice for Nightwish, because she can both go operatic and full on rock/metal with her voice. Tarja was a bit better at the operatic part, but was lacking in the other department in my opinion 😀 This song always gets me at 8:51 with the switch, and with the high note at the end. It's such a rollercoaster to go through 😁 Be ready to be bombarded by the Nightwish Army now by the way, they'll be incoming soon 😉

11:37 The Floorgasm brings yet another convert to the family !! 😁 Welcome Sister. You’re one of us now. Just FYI, that’s about 70 minutes into the show, and Floor had been killin’ it the whole way already. Also, that’s 82 THOUSAND people hanging on her every word; so, no pressure on her to Bury that (9 second long)high note.... At 6’1 and 170 pounds Floor is a smiling, singing, dancing, enchanting, stage commanding Valkyrie Goddess, and to me at least, a gift from above. Seeing the whole video of this concert, Especially the Floorgasm changed my life. It made me start listening to music again. I love watching these reaction videos and my biggest hope is that people follow and enjoy the Symphonic Metal path I was led to. Welcome to it. A breathtaking masterpiece sung by a Valkyrie Goddess… or what Nightwish thinks of as just another day. 💙💙💙All Hail Floor !! 💙💙💙 Infantryman-Nightwish Army. US Regiment. 9:26 This *BAND* is an experience. All their songs are like this. Thats not to say they all sound the same, they absolutely do not. But theyre all unique, epic and larger than life. Every time you hear a Nightwish song for the first time there is always something with that makes you go "wow, ive never seen anyone else do that" Ive been a fan since 1996 and I still think that sometimes.

Nightwish army Dutch Legion, South-West division reporting in from the Netherlands. Glad you you liked it. That tearing/smiling/hard the explain feeling, was a Floorgasm (yes, the official term) and your soul being handed over to our Valkyrie Goddess of metal. Best tip I can give you after hearing Floor singing for over 20 years... Just give up/let go.. let her control your emotions and drift along. Enjoy the ride!

Great reaction, Heidi. And a warm welcome to the magical world of Nightwish. All the feelings and emotions that you will experience are quite normal for normal people when they hear the call of the Valkyrie, Queen Floor. She touches every single soul. This is the journey of a lifetime. Enjoy 🤘🫡 Greetings from the Netherlands, the Hague

HailHeidi Middle aged man from Finland here. I love your style, your haircut You are one heck of a package of beauty, healthy doze of energy and positivity. Your husband or boyfriend is a lucky man. Keep up the good work. I subscribed earlier allready. Thank you for your work. I am just rediscover of NW and fall in love to them after so many years. I really had start to appreciate Tuomas and his mindset. And one reason have been that I have learned from finnish media what an classy good guy he is. He do many good things here in Finland. Nightwish is even long time sponsor of Kitee's (NW's original hometown where he lives currently with his girlfriend/wife) local baseball team (finnish baseball "pesäpallo". Translate is literally 'base ball'. Its Finland's national sport) and have been spotted many times in audience, sitting like a normal jack middle of everybody, just want see the game. Pesäpallo unfortunately is not so huge sport in Finland anymore, like football/soccer, but Ice-hockey being the absolute nr1. I think he just want to give his support and respect to his small home town, and support legacy of pesäpallo. Good guy.

I'm the type of dude that 1000 years ago would have been Viking my way across Europe or fighting the Romans 2000 years ago and this song make my eyes well up half the time I hear it. I get so fired up and feel so much emotion from everyone that I dont think my body knows what to do so it's like "here, lets just make him cry." Then it's time for Rammstein and wood chopping.

Great reaction, and I especially liked your comments about guitarist Emppu Vuorinen. You're spot-on in your observation that he loves the music and his playing serves the song. Never flashy unless the song calls for it, he's a real virtuoso guitarist and can really shred when he needs to. Everybody loves Emppu, he's a fun loving, pick-tossing, beer-drinking guy who almost always has a smile on his face. His antics are hilarious, and he's never in one place very long and likes to run around the stage. He's also a notorious prankster and in one video from this Wacken 2013 concert (during "I Want My Tears Back") he sneaks up behind Floor and unplugs her in-ear monitors. In other performances of that same song Floor often plays a cat and mouse game with him and tries to corner him and get him to dance with her, but he always seems to escape (although I have seen him in one concert do a few seconds of "the swim" with her when he couldn't get away). And you noticed another of this trademarks as he often touches his band mates on the arm or hand during performances in a reassurance of unity and affection.

Another Soul Snatched by the Valkyrie Goddess . " why did i start friggin crying " ? Well Floors voice does that to a whole bunch of people, than you add that incredible music behind it and you're done . You want to continue this Nightwish reaction journey ? of course you do , well all you have to do is search in the comment section for Gabriel Bardac's name ( He's The General of the most passionate Army youll ever encounter ) and youll be fine like wine .

This is an unusual experience for me, because I normally first try out reactors when they start doing Nightwish (often this performance), but in your case I've watched quite a lot of your videos already! Glad you enjoyed it so much - they have immense variety, while always sounding like themselves. If you're going to continue reacting to them stick to Gabriel's list to begin with, then we'll get an idea for more individual recommendations in half a dozen reactions or so...

Glad you decided to react to this band ,Yes this is with their 3rd singer Floor Jansen,a 6’1” Dutch vocal beast..They’re definitely a band that are better live, their studio stuff is good but it’s their live performances where they shine…they go from operatic though to rock, folk,Celtic and on to thrash and everything in between, hope you decide to dip your toe into some more..if you do then definitely use Gabriel’s list as it has the best quality videos performance and audio wise.👍(13th song out of 15)

Hi Heidi! I was always a bit of a philistine about music. I thought: "If it was good it would be in a movie soundtrack." I stopped listening to the radio in the mid 90's as more and more music became covers of old songs or artificially created girl or boy bands. The entire 21st Century seemed like a musical desert to me. The only popuar music I heard was from primarily English speaking sources, mostly US and British.I did not hear Nightwish until 2019, and was blown away by the band's tight skill in live performance. I was equally blown away by the voice of the Valkyrie Goddess, Floor Jansen. I spent the next few months going down inter related rabbit holes: Sabaton, Epica, Auri, Ayreon, MaYan, Blind Guardian, the many works of Marcela Bovio... I was stunned that I had lived so long unaware of any of this genius. Nightwish remains my favourite, even though they introduced me to Symphonic Metal, they literally transcend genre. There is no style of music they cannot excel in. As yet, I have never seen them live (and it hurts to have missed Marko,) but it has become a life goal for me. When I started listening to Nightwish on KZbin, Ann Waychoff was still around in every comments section, kindly and patiently educating people. I never directly interacted with her, but I was shocked and saddened to hear of her death within a few months. Gabriel inherited her role as chief tireless cheerleader of the Nightwish Army (I would not be surprised if he beats me here!) who provides an excellent infodump and suggested listening guide to introduce you to Nightwish.

best face expressions to a ghost love score reaction haha. loved it. I always tear up during that song. I went to over 400 concerts in the past and kinda always ignored nightwish. probably cause I didnt like the previous singers and I never noticed when floor joined the band. so I first saw their videos in 2020, shame on me xD
