Great reaction, Nightwish can really go under your skin. Those goosebumps with Nightwish are called Floorgasms, really. :-D That song was number 13th in that night in front of 82 000 people. (Wacken festival was sold out...) Talking about some major vocal control since the setlist had also hard metal singing songs included. There are plenty of NIghtwish songs that will surprise you and make those "Floorgasms". When you think that you have heard them all, they surprise you with another emonational bomb. You could try next the song called "The Devil and The Deep Dark Ocean, live at Buenos Aires". It's a "duel" between bassist Marco and Floor Jansen. The bass player Marco is also an excellent singer. Background info for that song; Floor had a cold in that night and it was not sure could she perform that night. She did however, and you can not hear that in her voice. As I said great reaction, keep them coming!

Thanks Nina! Awesome reaction. You're not the first to become emotional viewing this truly epic performance. Happens to a lot of us! GLS is often the introduction to Nightwish, but it also opens a rabbit hole to an undiscovered (by the reactor) world of colors and textures unimagined. Nightwish are early pioneers of "symphonic metal" and continue to evolve the genre. Often compared to Amy Lee of Evanescence Floor's experience on stage predates Lee's emergence and her vocal mastery is stuff of legend. The genre includes some of the most emotive, complex and powerful artists in the industry, but is largely based in Europe, centering on Finland and Sweden. More artists in this vein... Ayreon (you'll flip over this creator) Epica Avantasia Kamelot Sirenia Evergrey Amaranth Within Temptation A whole bunch more for you to discover! Ciao

You’re the first voice coach in years who talks specifically about how she is constantly crescendoing and changing dynamics, and I would like to add I have always liked the way she plays with her vowels, constantly doing this slow “ open up “ where she goes from closed to open at the end of her phrases on her ending words. That is a fantastic vocal exercise and a great way to make sure your vowels are resonant.

"Song of Myself" is awesome. You get some really good harmonies with the bassist, Marko, who is a really talented vocalist in his own right. It's also a bit heavier than Ghost Love Score (GLS). Similarly to Ghost Love Score, it has multiple elements, so it almost seems like multiple songs in one. Great instrumentation too. Link (this is a really high-quality version. The song itself ends around 6:45, and then it's like ~7 minutes of poetry (which you can skip)). kzbin.info/www/bejne/qaS1mIKep5h9qs0 If you choose to listen to this eventually, make sure you check out the version from Wacken 2013 (same performance/concert as this performance of GLS).

Greetings Nina. Floor Jansen (yan•sen), the 6 foot Dutch Goddess of all things vocal is quite possibly the most versatile singer you will ever hear. This is her favorite Nightwish song to sing for that reason and because she basically wrote the lyrical ending to the song, which made it a mega hit among the Nightwish Army, it is "forever on their set list". The organ pipes are a stage prop and wine holder for the keyboard player who happens to be the founder and songwriter/lyricist of the band. Loved your enthusiasm and reaction to this epic band. Thank you so much for the video and comments. Hope to see a lot more. Stay safe and stay blessed. 😊❤🤘🤘 Very late edit after rewatching this video: During the interlude, you were listening to the magic of the London Philharmonic Orchestra, London's The Metro Voices and Children's Choir. They all worked with keyboard player, Tuomas Holopainen since their very first album released in 1997. Pip Williams is the one responsible for orchestrating all the backing tracks and choir parts pre recorded for the albums and live shows. In regards to the strings; they are recorded in the backing tracks, however, Tuomas decides for each show what he wants to play on each song, meaning in one show he may choose to play the synth parts on keyboard along with his own arrangements. On another show he may choose to play the strings parts, or wind instruments, but for the most part he usually sticks to playing the string sections. And lastly... Ah yes... the goosebumps, chills, a tear or 2 of an emotional release... Those things Nightwish is known for, especially with Floor Jansen. She knows more about how to use the vocal mechanism than any singer you will ever know. From breath support in the diaphragm, rib muscles, and lungs, to the resonating tone created by the shape of the skull, and absolutely everything in between. Please subscribe to her channel (Floor Jansen), as she has 4 master classes I'm sure you will find extremely interesting. I'd love to see you react to those. 😉 Also, she actually did a reaction and analysis on the technical use of her vocals for this song. If you follow Gabriel's list, the next song is "Storytime" but I'd like to see you react to Floor's reaction of Ghost Love Score while it's still fresh in your head AND, it's an awesome opportunity to get to know Floor on a more personal level. kzbin.info/www/bejne/h4jCZHlnbZuSa7M Hope to see it.

I couldn't even say how many times I've heard it, and it still amazes me. There are instances where she will make those stylistic transitions you were referring to, for a single syllable, and then come right back. She is extremely particular about every little detail. Thanks for a wonderful and entertaining reaction, Nina. The more musically educated one is, the more they can appreciate the amazing compositions and layered arrangements of Tumoas Holopainen. He is brilliant is every way, but one of his wisest decisions is to surround himself with four virtuoso instrumentalists and the most incredibly versatile singer on the planet. The colors on his pallet for composition far exceed any other I've ever seen, and his most recent songs have been challenging for both performer and listener. With your obvious background, you will appreciate that he paints with not only all visible colors to humans, but is capable of venturing into the colors we cannot see, and forces us into thoughts and emotions that can only enhance our understanding of our universe. (Wait until you digest "The Greatest Show On Earth"). You will never find yourself un-amazed by their songs, and the incredible diversity of the composition. Every one is unique and challenging, musically and socially educating, and emotionally stirring. No, we couldn't "see" your goosebumps, but we are certain they were there, because we had them too. We have them on every song, no matter how many times we have obsessively listened to the song. Many of us have said it, in answer to the question ..."What's your favorite Nightwish song?" ... "the one to which I'm currently listening!" Welcome to the journey of a lifetime.

Apart from that, her stage presence is just out of this world, as the Hellfest gig amply showed just the other day. We were at Pinkpop and witnessed her solo and (2 hrs later) with her brothers in metal on the same day. Epic! Daria Vocalist did a "Floor week" just now, where she compared Floor in After Forever to Floor in ReVamp (Disdain!). She also did a great reaction to the mini-documentary abt Floor at the Rock Academy Reunion in 2015. In that English subbed docu done for Dutch television, on site interviews were done right before/after the legendary Nightwish concert at Tampere where Floor's parents were present in the audience. Check it out, it's a great introduction to Floor, the person behind the performance (which is the same btw, she's just being herself on stage): "Floor Jansen in Dutch show Reunion (Tampere 2015)". Cheers from Amsterdam! 🤘

I love watching someone trained in vocals reacting to a great vocal performance. So many things most of us miss or don’t acknowledge. Her voice is incredible. How someone has that sort of breath control and power at the same time floors me

When this was recorded Floor had been the replacement singer of Nightwish för just about 10 months. She did her first show in Seattle Wa on Oct 1st 2012 after the band fired Anette, their second singer. This was recorded Aug.3rd 2013. This song wasn't on the set list for the tour originally since Anette didn't have the vocal ability to perform it. But Floor had heard the song when her first band After Forever" toured with Nightwish when Tarja, their first singer, was still in the band, and she loved it. So Floor asked Tuomas (the guy behind the keyboards) if they could make it a part of the set list. And they did, it was song number 13 of a 15 song set. There's som minor variations in the backing between Floors and Tarjas version, mainly that the choir have been reduced in volume. There's a video on youtube from, I think, Argentina, recorded Dec15th 2012. And there's one of Tarja doing it too. If you want to know more about how Floor got in to the band I can recommend a documentary, also here on KZbin called "Please learn the setlist in 48 hours"

If no one's told you yet, the genre of Nightwish is called Symphonic Metal. Floor has a huge range. Putting in my vote for Storytime and Everdream next! Also, you should hear Floor's version of 'Shallow'. 😃

The thing that made this performance legendary is that the original lyrics, in the original arrangement ended with "Time to never hold your love" (your video time about 12 : 50) Everything beyond that was Floor's own ad-libbing. Also she can compentely sing death bellow style too :P

Back here again I love how you catch so many details even in your first listen! and how you test and show us with the keyboard! it's very helpful! Really like also that you looked at the lyrics at the end! It's going to be a joy to see you react and analyse more Nightwish songs Live! Or as a vocalyst some of Floor's solos works. Keep them coming!!

The Wacken 2013 set is really like a greatest hits show. I would love to see you just follow the set list for this performance, Tuomas takes you on a roller coaster rid of emotions. It depends on your mood what song you should do next, you want rock then-She Is My Sin, Romanticide, Ghost River or Dark chest of wonders. If you want softer more intense lyrics then Nemo or Everdream. You want wild fun -Song of Myself, Storytime, Last ride of the day or I Want My Tears Back. Love your review, and your in for a wild ride with Nightwish. Cheers

Nightwish and Floor Jansen are... a phenomena! THEY brought me to listen to Symphonic Metal. Listen to them is an experience, they tell stories and they perform so incredible! This music and this valkyrie voice is not from this world, i believe... Nightwish touches me like no other music did before!

Great reaction! I've seen it a thousand times and still get goosebumps at various points; and emotional, when reactors get emotional 🙂 Love it! Most of Nightwish fans are very nice and friendly. However, there will be some guys showing up, who will tell you how you have to do your channel and especially how to do proper Nightwish reactions (pausing to much, not rewinding a couple seconds after pausing, blablabla). Just ignore them. It is YOUR channel and who doesn't like it can just avoid watching you. You are great as you are! Cheers from Germany 🤘😎

I have literally watched over 50 different reactions to "Ghost Love Score" in the past 2 years after discovering Nightwish - Your reaction was great - I love how fast you can pick out the key & tempo changes and play the piano part (great ear) - I still get goosebumps and emotional even after hearing this song 100 times - so glad you felt it too. Floor is just an amazing singer with a very talented band. I can't wait to see what more Nightwish songs you will venture into

Originally Floor was sent by Allfather Odhinn to Midgard to gather the souls of fallen warriors to Valhalla, but she got distracted and joined a series of bands. However, Floor still gathers souls by her grace, beauty and the sheer power of her vocals. We give thanks for her at our Blots regularly and hope that Odhinn won't notice that she has never returned to Asgard. ALL HAIL THE VALKYRIE GODDESS!!! The Nightwish Army is incoming! Ha, this was wonderful. I can't believe I learned yet more new things about this song, but here we are (Even Floor Janssen herself has reacted to this clip LOL). People will throw all sorts of suggestions your way, but unless you are planning to react to like 30 Nightwish tunes (you're not) and/or you are suddenly a massive metal fan (again, you're probably not), I would go straight for the other massive multi-part masterpiece called "The Greatest Show on Earth", which documents evolution from the big bang theory to the present day. It's 21 minutes long but worth it! Live at Tampere is the one. You'll get opera, belting, spoken word, sick harmonies and fireworks :) Incidentally, when I saw them in May in NYC, they played Ghost Love Score and Greatest Show on Earth back-to-back in their entirety as an encore. That's 35 minutes for two songs in one encore! Also, it was at a SMALL 2,000 CAPACITY VENUE! As you can tell, I still haven't recovered.

Thank you! At least now I hope you see why some of us might have been such pests and were bugging you so much to watch this piece! I have seen virtually all the "GLS" reactions out there, and yours is at the very top in ability to instantly pick out musical information about the song, and nuances of Floor's singing. I'm sure you reaction will attract many new appreciative viewers to your channel! As for "what to watch next", you will get hundreds of recommendations from our "Nightwish Army"; the only thing I would add is: don't forget Floor has many wonderful SOLO performances out there you should review as well. Highly sought after examples include songs from the "Beste Zangers" T.V. series: "Phantom of the Opera", "Shallow", "Que Si Siente" (a Spanish belter), and the operatic piece "Vilja Lied", and her self-recorded "home" solo performances during Covid, where Floor covers popular tunes, such as "Let It Go" from the movie "Frozen"; "Oblivion" from the movie with Tom Cruise; and her cover of Lara Fabian's "Adagio". Finally, on a personal note from over here in North America: re --- the heat. Yes, I know you are not as used to having air conditioning as we are -- I was a student at LSE some years ago so I have some experience with London. A popular method I use here is to buy a small, portable, more affordable unit and have at least one room that is A/C (often the bedroom for sleeping), then put it away the rest of the year when it isn't so hot, to get it out of the way. This way you don't have a window with the A/C unit taking up the whole window all year round when it doesn't make any sense. I am currently using the Danby 9000 BTU portable. Here's the link for it: www.danby.com/products/portable-air-conditioners/dpa050b7bdb. It's about as quiet as you can get --- some units, especially some of the in-window units, can make quite a lot of noise, and you probably don't want too much of that in the house with what you are trying to do with your music! Thanks again for your reaction to Floor + N.W.! Looking forward to more!

Did we beat Gabriel to this one? Awsome reaction. You just had an "Floorgasm". The way she's changing styles on a drop of a hat? That's one of the reasons we love her. She herself says that she's a vocal nerd. She does everything from opera to Death Metal growling. And of course, everything between. Exept yodeling. Haven't heard her yodel.

Howdy from the Nightwish Army Texas Division. I always enjoy finding new vocal coaches to watch. Yall always have unique perspectives and I manage to learn something new from each one. I can't wait to here more reactions from Nightwish or other performers. Great analysis.
