This is the kind of music you get when Tuomas is pissed off. This one was aimed towards Tarja's husband. EDIT: This was off The Dark Passion Play album. The first without Tarja on vocals, and the same album as Poet and the Pendulum. This will likely never be played live, as it brings a lot of feelings to Tuomas

It's a shame, because the lyrics are not obvious if you don't know the story. It could be 'repurposed', maybe like against the abuse of women. But of course it has to be something the band can stand behind. I just feel it's a lost opportunity for the audience to vent their feelings in a concert.

An "ode" to Marcello, Tarja's husband. The greed he had, destroyed their band. Forbidding Tarja to perform in the States, because the small venues were not bringing in enough money (small audience in the USA) not letting her travel with the guys, but needing her own tourbus, not letting her rehearse the songs with the band. He is some evil, greedy and insecure dude and you feel the anger and hate they feel towards him. This message is SO powerful, it must have been not a joke having a song like this deticated to you. I just love how they express their feelings in their music. True feelings from admiration, love to despite and hate. Bye bye beautiful is a message to Tarja herself, also angry...but not this hateful. When you listened to these songs, you understand the Poet and the pendulum even more. (you in general) Thank you

New song? Yeah, just recently came out. Just 13 years ago or so.... 😉😂🤣🤣. This is from the album Dark Passion Play, which was the first album that featured Anette, after Tarja’s dismissal. The Poet And The Pendulum is from the same album. Dark Passion Play is a very dark album, because it deals with all the negativity that surrounded Tarja’s dismissal. This particular song is a reference to Tarja’s husband, who was seen by the band as the one who turned Tarja against them, driven by the greed for more money, according to the lyrics... Another great track from this album is Bye Bye, Beautiful, which is directly addressed to Tarja.
