Nightwish have so many layers and gradients, it's insane. This song was directed to Tarja's husband I believe, while Bye Bye Beautiful was directed at Tarja
@MacZussie5 жыл бұрын
"The Poet & the Pendulum" was telling about Tuomas' feelings after Tarja was gone. "Bye Bye Beautiful" was written by Marco afaik. "Slaying the Dreamer" is one of those mentioned songs that Tarja sang but never understood. It is dealing with Tuomas, the dreamer, who is confronted that just playing music would'nt satisfy all relevant necessities of others the same way it did for himself. Maximizing money revenues as the sole reason for making music was slaying the dreamboy Tuomas.
@Iamthecrazyone5 жыл бұрын
Victoria Bye Bye Beautiful was partly directed at Tarja, but also at the fans who accused Tuomas of replacing Tarja with Annette because of her looks, which is why in the music video the whole band is replaced with women. It’s a multi-faceted Metal diss track lol.

@Kanashimi They record the demos at the camp and Floor was present during the making od EFMB so at least for that album it was probably her (didn't hear the demos so I'm not sure but it would be stupid not to when she was there). And honestly as awesome as Marco is I don't think he sang demos for Tarjas parts :D. Marco did sing DPP demos (and I realy though it was because they still didnt pick the singer at that time, and considered the posibility that Marco would do the actual recording as well). I have no idea how much was Anette involved in preparatons of Imaginaerum though, but I think she was at the camp too.

@@xeleelex146 When it comes to a band, no-one should be put more over than another, as each person contributes equally to the band. When it no longer is that, then it really no longer is a band, let alone a family. Yes, Tuomas composes and writes most of the lyrics, however, each person brings their own ideas to the table for the composition of a song. Tuomas couldn't tell Emppu how to play a riff or solo any more than Emppu can tell Kai or Jukka how a 4-bar drum fill should sound in a song, any more than Kai could tell Floor to hit a C#5 or a C#4. Each brings their own talents to it. But the moment you have someone not playing their role, not showing up for practice, and giving notice the way Tarja did, that's when it breaks down. Treating her one way didn't cause that; not playing the role and contributing did. Regardless, Nightwish are much stronger now with Floor, Tarja got what she wanted, which was out of the band/going solo. You should be happy; she got what she wanted, and that has now been 15 years ago. If you're still salty about it, that isn't Tuomas' or Nightwish's fault; you're letting it affect you, and that's totally on you.

Don't piss Tuomas or Marco off haha! Even though the meaning behind this song is angry and directed at Tarja's husband, I just adore how heavy and powerful it is, it's definitely one of my personal favourites!

This is the kind of music you get when Tuomas is pissed off. This one was aimed towards Tarja's husband. EDIT: This was off The Dark Passion Play album. The first without Tarja on vocals, and the same album as Poet and the Pendulum. This will likely never be played live, as it brings a lot of feelings to Tuomas

The horns at the end of the song reminded me of a James Bond movie 😁 Someone needs to have Nightwish do the theme song for a 007 movie and a Disney movie 😎 FYI Marko’s English album comes out on January 20th 🤘

Oh hohohohohooooooh,no you DIDNT!!😲 Mr Rock N Roll brought out the fed up,angry,stone cold crazy guys in Nightwish!😲 Needless to say,this was a straight up F U to a certain gentleman that the guys cant stand. Hadnt Marco been allowed to go mental in his vocals here,im sure that would mean a potential asswooping for that gentleman. (Not really,but still! Its a good way to steam out!) There was this,and there was "Bye Bye Beautiful" who was written directly to Tarja. Both are songs Nightwish dont perform anymore,due to the same gentleman threatening with a lawsuit if that ever happened. Man,there were soo much bad blood at that time. And i believe Bye Bye Beautiful is Nightwish`s most viewed video ever! Might be a record for any metal-rock music video too,i heard someone speculate over. Defintly the 2 most "aggressive" songs Nightwish ever made,Bye Bye Beautiful seems abit calmer......until they unleash Marco again😲
@Dreded1005 жыл бұрын
Tbh, seeing Bye Bye Beautiful live back when they did it live... Marco seems to struggle to get everything out that he did on the studio version. I always assumed that was a reason they don't do it live anymore as well.
@sonofthesea32985 жыл бұрын
Nah,Marco is a beast on vocals. But taken his age today into concideration,that might be just another reason,if they got asked that again today. With age,your voice fades slowly away too,sadly. But i have heard him go crazy live after the whole Tarja thing numberous times. However,they dont go carrying grudge and hatred anymore theese days,wich may have a impact on how you are able to sing. I can see it from that perspective,totally. However,i believe it was quite simply because they didnt want to "bring up angry memories",the same as Tuomas never wanting to perform The Poet And The Pendulum anymore. They are at a happy place now,and bringing back darker,painful memories isnt something they want,wich i do respect and understand. All i remember is that theese 2 songs made Marcelo grumpy as a kid without candy,and that they laied them to rest,because they didnt want anymore media drama from thoose 2.

@@isaiahwelch8066 full of Tuomas's delusions
@isaiahwelch80664 жыл бұрын
@@xeleelex146 : What is? And besides that, back up your claim of "Tuomas' delusions" -- because honestly, you already sound like a Tarja-ite, and you have no idea what you're talking about.
@xeleelex1464 жыл бұрын
@@isaiahwelch8066 lets start with the lyrics"Who the hell are you to tell me What to do, why to do, why bother..Leech in a mask of virtue Such waste, to ever think of you again"...Tuomas was certain that only he had the right to determine all matters pertaining to NW insisting that her husband/manager should have no input into decision making influencing Tarja including musical and stage matters, frequency of tour dates and gigs...is that logical?...further he claims to have no need for him, yet takes every opportunity to vent his anger at Marcelo.. .then" Hey Judas, your Christess was our love ..Hit and run, your will be done. Never sorry, never wrong...More more more more more".....he attacks her or Marcelo because she did not end up with him..deluding himself that she returned his feelings...that Marcelo is wrong but he is never wrong...... then..."All for her and more for me Why is it so hard to see?".....Tuomas implies that Marcelo asked for more of the profits, when its been documented that Tarja wanted fewer large scale gigs to rest her vocals and not a penny in additional revenue...it was the band whop wanted to conquer the Americas and planned 9 months worth of gigs without consulting Tarja "All within me gone but pain and hope".... my power over you is no more, and all i am left with is pain (of either being unrequited or from being taken away by Marcelo "Mammon, opiate of the masses"....so you think your popularity with the fans gives you an edge/advantage over me...no way... "Seek her Seduce her Tame her Blame her Have her Kill her Feast on it all".....take her away from me..force her to turn against me, destroying her career as a result(as though without Tuomas, she could not succeed) and then"feast" as though, he is saying use her and dispose of her like a washroom napkin (when in fact, Tuomas used her and made her feel like a guest vocalist , which was always a source of contention "With awakening the tears will begin To my everlasting shame silence took me".... once i begin to understand the gravity of the mistake of firing her and the massive backlash against me resulting therefrom...my response will be the regret of how i tried to defame her with the the public letter
@isaiahwelch80664 жыл бұрын
@@xeleelex146 : I'm going to refute this entire thing, since you were so kind as to actually respond. First section: Actually, as Tuomas IS the one who composes everything (Marko being the other songwriter), that _does_ mean he has a lot of control. Second, his anger is understandable, when Marcelo is, in fact, butting in where he is not wanted, nor needed. So honestly, Tuomas' feelings on that are understandable -- because Nightwish is, for all intents and purposes, _his_ band. Certainly Nightwish would not be as popular as they are, without _his_ songwriting skill and talent.
