There is actually an article/interview in which Tuomas talks about the meaning of the song and video: "Noise is a reminder. It’s some food for thought. We see it more as an optimistic video than pessimistic. Especially the last 10 seconds of the video, when you see the beautiful forest and the landscape, it should fill you with hope the real world is still out there. This video is not a criticism about technology or cell phones. We love technology. We wouldn’t ever have done this record without technology. We love our cell phones, the Internet and all that, but it’s a criticism for the addiction that these things cause in human beings. ‘Addiction’ is the word. It’s such a shame that we have all these wonderful tools that we can for the good, to spread true information and to be connected to the world. We love the idea of social media, like Twitter, that everybody in the world suddenly has a voice; we have a voice. We can immediately get out there. It’s just a matter of what you put out there. And that’s what the video is all about." 💜

I have to remind myself, I live in one of the most beautiful countries in the world (New Zealand) and I need to get out as much as possible, get off the screen and go to places I've never been before and that is exactly what I did today.

I think it goes even further than Tuomas suggests or may even realize. What the song and the video show is in fact how the reality is hidden behind a thick layer of fake stories and misinformation that is emitted over us every single day. And large groups of people embrace those false ideas and beliefs and protect them in a way similar to how religious extremists protect their beliefs. Emppu even gets beaten up by his group for having different ideas. What the person under the hood shows is that he is submerged in these fake beliefs that are fed to him all of his life and he never gets to see the reality. To me the last shot represents truth, in all of its rich colors, and the man under the hood has never seen it. Compare the rich colors in the last shot with the use of color (or better: the lack of it) in the rest of the video. The video mainly uses only hard, primary and unnatural colors on a black and white background. To me that represents the fact that society is highly polarized and there is no room for discussion. It’s like: Either you believe my story and you are with me, or you are against me. There is nothing inbetween and there is no room for debate. To me this video is much more disturbing than Tuomas suggests, because it reflects our human behaviour of our current society so perfectly. There is a reason why there is a line ‘Enter ratkind!’ In the lyrics of The greatest show on earth. This is it. Humanity will ultimately destroy itself because we compete with each other and no longer pay attention to reality. Instead we largely base our decisions on irrational and fake beliefs that in the end are not going to help us to survive.

The message is clear. It is not subliminal. You got it. We're not helpless. We just need to realise that "social" media is deliberately designed to draw people in and keep them occupied. It's not anti-technology, but about using it in moderation and with awareness. 😉 The key lyric is: "You have become tool of a tool Digital fools telling you to shut up and dance".

They did a lot of good modern video editing in this music video, sometimes showing the same person in three different spots at once. The shift of the camera made it sometimes feel like you watched a snowglobe but everything inside it was real life. The botox injections where her lips swoll up was really hard to watch, but yet another cred to the movie team

Several of the scenes in the background are callbacks to their previous albums. I found the similarity of theme to the video for XXI Century Blood interesting in that both are commentaries on the obsession with social media. And yes, I could think that carrying that too far could result in the culture of the Matrix though I have no idea if Tuomas has seen either. But he does have diverse interests and is very aware of a wide range of subjects.

The internet has helped me in *many* ways, but on the other hand, it (especially social media) has sometimes had a negative impact. A lot of what we do online is affected by marketing. What we post, promote, buy, etc, can often be coming from a toxic place. I feel that the internet is just as much as a force for good as it is a force for bad. Society is in its early living with this level of technology, and overtime we might find a balance.

This song and video is a representation of this generations Brave New World/Matrix. From the beginning, in today's society, little ones are 'plugged in' when their parents hand them a phone to keep them pacified, out of their hair, and quiet. From that point it's a vicious circle of being bombarded by the falseness of what to think, feel, and how to behave, "Slave To A Brave New World". There is a real genuine immoral hypocrisy and virtue signaling that is going on. In the video they portray the environmentalist proudly protesting, who in reality is actually submerged, happily bathing in the filth that he's protesting. The happy get quick-result pill pusher, who is really a depressed addict. The 'current' image driven ideal of beauty of being a lover of thy self, who's beauty in reality is all artificially created. The 'child- conscious' mother posing with her 'doll-like' child, when in reality she's verbally abusing said child, caging it with indifference ( the cage itself is also an acknowledgment of child trafficking). The 'woke' people sitting as if on pews scrolling religiously through their phones, in reality when one actually 'wakes' or steps differently from the 'crowd- thought' they are viciously attacked by said crowd... those onlooking, instead of doing the ethically moral thing and helping the one being attacked, uses the opportunity as a photo opp. The king that sits on a 'throne of power' that people present themselves to, in actuality that 'throne' is a golden toilet, a false position of power. Throughout the video, we are visualizing the age progression of that little baby from the beginning that was 'plugged in' until it's an old man who's video feed has just ended, when he passed... next to him is another 'plugged in' baby. A destructive image of the serpent eating it's own tail. The kicker to this video is two things. 1) The dark driving power of evil that is seen throughout the video in the form of the big black ever moving square screen behind the 'kings throne'. 2) All this immoral falsity represented, is taking place in the middle of the true natural beauty of God's creation... yet no one sees or feels that true reality because they are 'plugged in' and made blind to it. So very sad, yet a true representation of today's society. As always listen, appreciate, and enjoy!! God Bless!!!
