Beautiful huh? This song is from their lastest album Human Nature. There is also a music video of it. "How's the Heart?" as an ode to human empathy and we all need that. Both Tuomas and Floor are real empaths.

It is a beautiful song with a lot of depth, and the full band version in the music video is great too, with the heartbeat drumming and vocal mix. They played both versions in the 2021 Virtual Concerts. Friday was Acoustic and Sat was the full band version. The set list in the current tour seems to be including the acoustic version. I will hopefully hear this tonight at the show in Montreal in just a few hours. Can't wait.

@@susanhoffman4835 Just got out and of the show a little while ago. Beast in Black was the opener, a little heavy for my tastes, but the crowd was into it. Venue was packed 2300 in a theatre/club environment. Crowd went even wilder for Nightwish when the took the stage about 9:30pm. The sound was really loud and I think unbalanced for the space, Floor at times sounded different than what expected, but I guess it depended on where you were. I went down to near the stage for the last couple songs which was much better, though bass notes were causing the floor to vibrate. Picked up the tour Tshirt and a copy of the Virtual concert DVD before I left. The set list was the same as in Toronto. How's the heart was nice as the acoustic version, Floor sat on the stage riser nearby Troy on his chair. Tuomas and Kia joined in near the end of the song to add to the sound. Floor and the band clearly enjoyed themselves. Emppu did his flourishing bow to Floor at the end of her GLS final note. Respect!

I have to say…I watch a lot of Nightwish reactions, but I don’t subscribe to many reaction channels. I do subscribe to yours, though, as I’m often touched by how moved you both obviously are to the songs and to Floor’s singing. I get teared up just like SueSue did quite often. Some of us just feel it deeper than others, huh? The “electric” version of How’s the Heart is on their most recent album Human Nature, which is an appropriate title based on the album’s subject matter. I think those songs really turn on the waterworks for me more than some of their past songs. They released official lyric videos for all of the songs on the album, and they are all very nicely done. I’d especially recommend Procession, Tribal, and Harvest (that one has Troy on lead vocals).

The acoustic version is my favorite and the lyrics to this one reflect the caring nature to be there for those in need. If you see someone that appears to be out of sorts or those in dire situations, we are to reach out and ask, "How's the heart". I don't know, but perhaps the lyrics that say, "Burn the rope - Dull the blade- and dance some more", refer to getting rid of the items that would have been used to take ones own life. Destroy the rope by burning it and dull that blade, get rid of it. Come and dance instead to mend the heart and rejoice, pray within "Sound a human paean". Life can bring us down, but there's always a way to overcome and defeat "Drowning in the mire". This song makes the eyes a little wet every time I hear it. Another song that gets me like "How's The Heart", is "He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother", by the Hollies. ❤

My original comment dissapeared, so here is the story behind the scenes just before these Planet Rock perfomance. Troy fells down the stairs and no time to reherse. Troy and Floor's acoustic version of "Nemo" has hit a million views! Here's a little bit of background to the legendary recording - "As part of our 'Human :II: Nature' promotional tour of Europe, myself and my little sister Floor were asked to perform an acoustic set for the UK radio show 'Planet Rock'. I arranged two songs at very short notice - The old NW corker 'Nemo' and the new NW corker 'How's the Heart'. Surprisingly, it was something of a triumph; especially considering its background. It started well with me falling down a staircase in the hotel an hour before the shoot. Yes, I launched myself after breakfast and as I approached the solid marble floor from a height I remember thinking "this could be really bad..." however, in midair I called on my stuntman training (I was the stunt coordinator on the Indiana Jones movies) and, flailing beautifully, landed with a loud splat, like a big stupid flailing thing. The hotel staff were very impressed as I limped off heroically laughing. Then, after crawling through London in a taxi, we were told that we only had time for one run-through of the songs (!) and Floor hadn't a clue what I was going to be up to with my traumatised guitar. So off we went, into the valley we rode, knowing there was time for only one take. And that was it, for all the world to see. The photo attached is proof of how terrified and miserable we both were..."

Lovely reaction. Every song from Human Nature is just gorgeous with amazing lyrics. Because the album came out just before the pandemic hit the band couldn't tour in support of the album (just starting now) so they released lyric videos for all the songs from disc 1 and an official music video for Noise. My favorites are Shoemaker (in my top 5 Nightwish songs) Tribal, and Endlessness (last song with Marko singing lead). Disc 2 is a gorgeous 30 minute orchestral piece with limited singing. There is a fan made, Tuomas blessed video made by Sensei Music videos that perfrectly matches the music. Some reactors have done the whole piece stopping between each of the movements. The final movement, Ad Astra, which includes spoken word from Carl Sagan's Pale Blue Dot will challenge your mind and think about your place in the universe. It is teh closer/outro for the current live shows. 2 days till I see them in Boston!

Many of Tuomas's lyrics have important messages - like this one. If you start digging deeper into some of the lyrics, you will find quotes from poets and scientists - we will get back to this when they appears. This one is a tecnically very difficult song to sing - but Floor makes it look like nothing. She is the greatest singer currently, no doubt about that. Troy calls her voice "Stratospheric" and that's completely understandable - but it's not just her voice - Floor is dragging the audience into the songs - and it doesn't matter if it is acoustic like here, or on full throttle in a heavy one. You feel every song deep in your mind and soul. She attended a Dutch tv-show a few years ago 'Beste Zangers' where she totally killed it. It's a show receipt they uses in many countries all over the world, where singers sing each other songs or favorites - not a competition. She got the whole studio to burst into tears more thsn once - on live TV. And currently she is on the German version of the same show. So far they have shown the 2 first episodes - the first one Floor 'metalized' a ballad - and blew the roof off. The second song, she made an emotional acoustic version - only her and a piano - added a dose of Floor's emotional powers, and the others got schocked and tears in buckets. She is that good!! ** This acoustic version is on the setlist on some of shows now - and in others the go for the full version (they had both on the Virtual Shows)

Endless Forms most Beautiful(2015) and Human:ll:Nature (2020) are the 2 albums written with Floor as lead singer(and Kai on drums). This is the first song you have done from either record. About this song Tuomas said the following: "Human empathy, altruism, true love. They truly are the better angels of our nature. The nature of the human kind. We have the potential to be such a great species. And in many ways we already are. It is really important to remember to ask your family, your friends, strangers and yourself the important question: How's the Heart?" There is an electric version, which you should go check out, doesn't matter if you react to it or just listen on your own. More from this album: Noise, Shoemaker, Harvest, or Endlessness

For me burn the rope means this. We would sit outside at a campfire and listen to music and we would burn roPE to keep the bugs away.

"Burn the rope" is slang for smoking pot. I'm sure that it's not the meaning here. I see it as getting rid of the ties that are binding you and go out and have some fun. 😊🤘

I don't think I have said it before, but how about those lyrical messages by NIGHTWISH - they just reach out and touch you, whether you think yourself stoic or not... While Floor's voice just takes you to Heaven in an instant. When she goes to THAT tone, there is not a dry eye in the house, to quote the late great Meat Loaf.... The difficulty of those songs is self-evident, but the genuine emotion is the tipping point. Try "Procession" for an eulogy for the Mankind... or is it a warning?.. And - I love to see how much you love and care for each other as well. Trust me, it is easy to tell. God bless.

Every time I hear this I wonder why today's pop stars receive all the adulation and radio airtime. Metal singers are in the Premier Division as opposed to the 2nd Division occupied by pop stars.
