Nightwish - Sleeping Sun (emotional Floor at the end) Antwerp, 20 november 2022

First show in the European leg of the Nightwish "Human Nature" World tour in Antwerp, November the 20th 2022. This is the first performance of Floor Jansen after her cancer surgery. When they played "Sleeping Sun" Floor bursted in tears after her very last note and buried her face in a towel... The bassist (Jukka) was very sweet and stroked Floor on her back and asked her if she was allright... She disappeared from the stage for a moment during the intermezzo and came back to sing the next song. She received a standing ovation from the audience which was heart-warming... I think the stress and uncertainty of the past month just got too much for her.

I hope she knows (and I think she does) that basically everyone of us Nightwish fans are incredibly grateful for her of delivering such outstanding performances just so briefly after what she has been through. No one could reasonably have expected that from her and she is more than welcome to let it all out when she feels like it. I think it's also a very good move that they cut the setlist from 2 to about 1.5hours compared to South America. Sure we all would've loved to hear Ever Dream etc. but I'd much rather have them take it a bit more easy on Floor, we wanna have her and the band in all their glory for many more years to come.

Saw Nightwish at Birmingham on Tuesday. Absolutely blew me away. This band is pretty exceptional as a collective of course. Tuomas is a musical genius. jukka, Troy, Kai and Emppu outstandingly professional and masters of their craft. But Floor, oh Floor. Her performance was utterly astonishing especially given her recent journey. I have watched countless concert videos but nothing prepared me for the live experience made even more special by this woman’s utter perfection in her craft. She is a treasure. She puts a huge amount of pressure on herself to deliver 100% every time. Being Hyper-sensitive, she also absorbs the atmosphere and emotion from the crowd like a sponge. It got too much that time for her and she had to let go. The odd thing is she will most likely be a bit cross with herself for that moment, but the irony is that the whole place would have been giving her so much positive emotion that it only makes her even more incredible and adored by everyone.

Its a very hard thing to go through a dangerous desease. I really hope and wish, that all her treatments will go well and she will never have to face this fear again. I love how strong their love within the band is, that was not the case with Tarja or Anette, I think they all learned from the past. You see they finally fit all together (even though I really miss Marco - no offense Jukka, you're awesome too).Even Emppu wiped his tears at the end. In the concert in Vienna, I cried through the whole song, because I think everyone can relate to a situation, where you're life falls apart or fear for it. Love to everyone

Wow, taking the lyrics of this song and projected through perhaps her mindset of a recent cancer survivor, easy to see why she may have had a moment. She has no doubt so much to live for, and she's thinking about it. Perhaps there is a fear there, but also overwhelming happiness. She's here, in front of all those people, doing what she loves, and wants it to last for a lifetime. Not to mention her family, husband, daughter, friends, etc. Goodness though I really love this band, they are the kind of people you'd just want to know, even if they never played a note. Just good, kind empathetic people. Truly humans of the highest caliber. Anyway, I teared up watching this. Such a sweet person, hate to see her in pain.

Tuomas has said he is an empath so all of the emotions others may feel were felt as though they were his own he has stated that the way he handles it is through song Floor is a highly sensitive person and she was feeling everything A highly sensitive person (HSP) is someone who is thought to have an increased or deeper central nervous system sensitivity to physical, emotional, or social stimuli. i think she has also stated she is an empath and every song that much more touching

Its understandable that Floor is so emotional at the end, I completely understand her. I myself was diagnosed with skin cancer in 2019, you go through a rollercoaster of emotions. I had surgery within 2 weeks and I still have that uncertainty. must be monitored for another 2 years. In that year they also found out that I have rheumatoid arthritis. and arthritis 😭 That's why I empathize with her so much.

Likewise, my friend. My years in the sun - bicycle racing, radio tower climbing, etc - caught up with me in my late sixties. Surgery, cryotherapy and Fluororacil have all been successful. In my seventies now, I too suffer from RA. Sux getting old, but there you are. I thank the gods above that I found Nightwish in the last few years. I cannot begin to express just how much they have illuminated my existence as I turn the pages of the final chapter of my life.

I had an early stage 3 cancerous growth/tumor on my left shoulder blade in early 2010. I think my wife got the worst of it, as she had to change my bandage in the morning, after she got home from work and before I went to sleep! Every year I go back to my Oncologist, and I am cancer free since 2010. I wish the Rheumatoid Arthritis would go away too! Mine always flares when a cold front comes through central Texas!!

II had to check the dates of previous performances. At the end of October, Floor certainly knew her diagnosis, but she successfully concealed her anxiety. The prognosis was initially favorable and everything went well. The medical statistics for such cases are more than optimistic. Floor did everything on time. By the time the new tour began, she should have already psychologically recovered. But apparently the very fact of the possibility of death caused her a strong shock. Previously, she had no such experience, so all her previous experience that formed a strong personality was useless in this situation. She will show weakness for a while, but it won't last very long. During this period, she needs enhanced support and we must provide it to the best of our ability.

I also know strong people. And Floor is also one of them. The news of cancer is more painful for bright positive people who love their lives and are used to managing it themselves. It is a special experience - intense stress that suddenly finds weakness in the strong and strength in the weak. Alas, this is my experience. My tumor turned out to be benign in the end, but the whole time of waiting was spent in excitement. I saw the reaction of different people. I know that Floor will overcome this with maximum benefit for himself, and he will definitely share his experience with us. But it is at first that she may need support.
