tarja fans, floor does not always go operatic simply because she was not hired by tuomass to replicate tarja's vocals. She goes operatic when the song absolutely calls for it or when wants to put her own twist to a song. (examples stargazers, kinslayer). The versatility she brings to the band should honestly be more appreciated. In documentary, floor stated that Sleeping Sun was one her favorites and she has been pushing to perform it live.

There also was Dutch television, the tv program "Klasgenoten" (Classmates) at the concert. Floor met her classmates from The Rock Academy again. When she watched the interview with her parents at the show, she was crying, really moved by the love and pride of her parents. They talked about Floor having a burn-out when her band After Forever stopped. She was just recovering when Nightwish called her if she could fill in for Anette. It was like a dream coming true for Floor, and well, the rest is history.

I have the bravery to say it, FLOOR IS THE BEST SINGER that nightwish has seen. She is the swiss army knife of singers, she can sing so many different styles, and does it with perfection. Then I stopped listening for a while, in 2013 I learned Anette was no longer in Nightwish and I was disappointed so I didn't listen to NW for a while. Then I heard a song with Floor. I've loved her ever since. Much more than Tarja or Anette. She's absolutely incredible. I'm not saying the previous singers are bad, not at all, but Floor is just a different league IMO. Tuomas couldn't have chosen a better singer. So yes, even people who've known Nightwish for ages like and, I dare to say, prefer Floor. It's been nearly two decades since Tarja has been gone. get over it. It's time to move on. If you want to listen to her music she has a successful solo career you can follow.

I was a singer/songwriter for many years, and can tell you factually that Sleeping Sun is an extremely difficult song to sing. The cadence, the pitch, the delivery and the emotion have to all come together using tremendous vocal control. Floor absolutely nails this. Love her.

Plenty of them. I can list a lot of them just by listening to how she butcher the Tarja era songs with her own belting and tone changes (which messes up the songs) to trying to "improve" the Anette era songs with her own "takes", which falls flat for the most part. So no thank you.

As a music student myself I can assure you that our so called experience means absolutely nothing when it comes to personal taste, even professionals state their opinions based on their personal taste and that's 100% valid. I can say that I think Tarja's deep and dark voice fits a lot better to the ancient atmosphere of the original song, but that's MY personal taste which is not going to change just because some KZbinr who's also a vocal coach doesn't share my opinion. And I don't think it's fair for anyone to diminish anyone's work in order to make the other look better as most people will keep doing for a long as Nightwish exists.

The thing is you can't compare Tarja and Floor's takes on this song, as they approached them from different directions. Floor went with a moodier 'rock' sound that was haunting and enveloping. Tarja's take on it was a soulful power ballad that hit you like a truck, in a good way. Each brought their skills and both did a fantastic performance. Go NW!

When I watch this, I can´t help but think Floor has the best voice this world has ever heard. I´m sure there are vocalists with bigger ranges etc. but I´m talking about how beautiful her voice is. I never heard of Floor Jansen before I saw a program on Dutch TV where Floor was singing different kinds of songs. I am 52 years old and how it is possible that I never heard of Floor Jansen and Nightwish. Woooooow. They are so incredible. Floor is really AMAZING.

Nightwish is a national treasure for Finland and a tourist asset to Europe. I just discovered them days ago, and already I plan to travel to Europe to see a 1-3 live shows. I want to be part of the crowd that really loves Nightwish, and the European live videos seem to show that should be in Europe. Of course, I'll also see them if they come to my area.

I love it when artists only use half of their potential. It leaves a very large pool of skill to craft every little detail not only to superhuman perfection but to put it beyond that, back to human, back to relatable, back to personal. Floor is a pretty exceptional vocalist to be sure, but there are thousands of singers who make for better live performances than those in the studio. It's quite common in music for live versions to exceed the studio performances, outwith some genres where live performance isn't really focal point. Expand your horizons and learn to appreciate the wider world of music rather than worshipping a small handful of entities so much that you exclude yourself from so much beyond that, missing out on everything else. Your joy will only increase for the small effort it takes to appreciate the wider wonderful world of music.

She is far more versatile than any of the previous, both in education and skills. She can sing anything in the Nightwish catalogue. Anette didn't have the skills to sing a lot of the previous songs, but Tarja would probably not be able to sing Storytime.
