I think Kai is also doing with his left foot a heel tilt to his hat when needed, so he's peddling both hat and bass drum at the same time... ofc we cannot see it now, but in some Wintersun vids that's clearly visible move. EDIT: and ofc happy new yeearrghh to y'all... BTW: your second take to the pronunciation Hahto was closer the correct...

Kai does so many subtle things/fills that don’t get the credit for how much it adds to the feel of the song.

Kai Hahto (pron: HAW-Toe) is a brilliant technician! Kai had to add about 4 new drums to his kit for this tour, for this song! I love watching him play...he's not flashy, but his mastery is just delicious!

Regarding your last section of the review, Kai Hahto (read it as Sky without S, then Hah as in HUH?, and tow without w) learned a unique drumming skills during his years with Wintersun because he needed to drum very fast with his legs. He can double hit pedals at rhe same time with his left foot. Watch his drum clinic video for Wintersun - Sons of Winter and Sun.

Gear Gods has a good video on Nightwish with Kai's kit being shown as it was before the Human:||:Nature album. He had to add I think, five drums to handle the tribal sounds.

You did mention the tamburin. I was confused about it for a long time until watched a video about their gig gear and saw it mounted low on the left side. Kai is by the by left handed, maybe an unusual set for a leftie. He is ridiculously fast footed on his left side too 🇸🇪🇫🇮

Kai is a great drummer. Tip for the next? Drummer Ariën van Weesebeek of the band Epica with Abyss of time. Great video for drummers.

Though Neil as well when hearing this on the album intentional or not very much a nod to The Professor. Dani Loble of Helloween has 2 additional bass drums on each side mounted to where the skin is perpendicular to the ground. He also has 4 on the floor for holding up toms.

I don't watch reaction videos to see my favourite music being watched along with some vigorious nodding and a polite 'so talented / amazing / wow' at the end. (Although I'm happy to take that validation.) The best videos are the ones where they get paused all the time and we learn something new. I'll never be able to learn the drums properly, not at this age, but I love to listen to all these interesting tidbits!
