It`s not about thinking or trying to recreate the real world. It`s " inspired" by Japanese Zen. If you listened to him he knows what he is talking about. the word " Wabi-Sabi" is about exactly what he is doing. He paints like a child with " No mind". Look again and you can see that the " weakest" work he did in the video was the one where he painted the shape of a square. This was because he lost his focus on making the art asymetrical and natural. To make art that is not in a patern or in shapes, and to make it " estetic" is not as easy as it seems. In Japanese art also in Bonsai, poetry. It`s about trying to replicate nature, and the process of " transience" of life on a emotional level. If you look at the French garden of Versailles you see that the point is to control nature. Make geometrical shapes. And to create artificial perfectionism. In Japanese art of Bonsai and the Zen garden, the point is to replicate nature in the shapes that shows the brute force of nature ( Wind, decay, death). The reason for this is from japanese Zen Buddhism. And in the estetic form of " Wabi- Sabi". So the point in the Japanese garden or in poetry ( Heiku), is to show nature and the seasons " as it is". The more asymetric and " broken", rustic " weathered". The better. Art is not just about making a recreation of reality. It`s about expression. So he is a artist. His style is just to expressionistic and minimalistic to your taste

If I'm not mistaken, he's shouting a, "Katz!" which is a sound in Zen practice that a student or teacher might make when trying to verbalize emptiness, or anything else, really. One might hear it as an answer to the question, "What is Buddha?"
