MUCH MORE than an ADAPTER!｜Dreamcast Controller Converter

Thanks to Brook Gaming for sending me this adapter for making this video. All opinions in the video are my own and I was not asked to say anything specific (as always!).

Hope they make a Saturn one at some point. I managed to pick up a Saturn Hori stick last time I was in Super Potato, but still, would be nice to have for others if we're ever allowed within six feet of people again.

It's not a complete solution but I have a custom-made Sega Saturn console and absolutely hated the original American controllers... get yourself a pair of the Retro bit newly updated wireless 2.4Ghz Sega Saturn controllers! You can pick em up on Amazon, they have a few different colors and so far in my experience they are identical to the Japanese Sega Saturn controllers with zero lag and feel in every way as good as the original, if not better and are dream to play your classic games on until they create a device for the Sega Saturn like this one for the Dreamcast in the future! 👍

I love these brook thingies, they work flawlessly for me. I got one to connect my DualShock 4 to a PS1 wirelessly and another one to hook up my USB arcade stick to a NeoGeo MVS (via minigun). There is also an adapter by another company called Mayflash to connect all kind of controllers wirelessly and wired to Nintendo Switch and NeoGeo Mini. It's called the MAGIC-NS Wireless Controller Adapter. I highly recommend to give that one a try too if you got a switch or neogeo mini. It's awesome.

Brooks are awesome. I got one to convert my 360 arcade sticks and use them on PS4. Completely effortless to use (The one I bought must have been the lastest firmware) and as far as I can tell , no input lag. I have no insight of the reliability and lifespan of them yet though, since I only used it a few times so far.

I don’t know if he talked about this but the recent firmware update to some of the brook converters now allows for use of the retro bit usb Saturn pads both wires and wireless. Sega Saturn on Sega Dreamcast!!

Are you serious!! so I'm about to purchase one of these as we speak and wondered where I would find the update to refresh the model that I'll receive so that I can utilize this functionality for the Retro bit controllers! 👀

Mr Turbo got my reply from brook. This is what they said. Thanks for writing. In fact, even if they are all PS3PS4 to XXX series, they can be totally different because different consoles are different in reading signal transformation command. We know your idea, we will keep looking into the possibility for that. If it’s possible, you’ll see an update for that, thanksJ

I use my sn30 pro+ with this adapter and it works great! Cant go back to the original dc controller now.

These converters are great! Just be aware that the vmu memory can be corrupted. It happened to me three times. Also there's a 20% chance you will break any of Brooks converters When U firmware update them. Luckily they do have a one year warranty behind all their products. They're still great products just a little issues. Lol

Hello so I'm so glad I came across your warnings about the updates! I'm literally about the Press buy it now and order one of these from eBay... it looks to be brand new however I have no idea the firmware that's on it. So do you have any advice as to what I should do once it arrives... are there ways to check to see what firmware is currently on it? As I don't want to purchase it and have it break on me in the first week lol👀

@@mrturbo757 if you're buying it knew it's definitely going to be out of date. So you're going to want to update it for far better functionality. When you go to update it and make sure you're plugging it directly into the computer and don't fiddle with it. And read the instructions thoroughly. It's very simple, but there is the risk of breaking it. Worst case scenario you can return it or exchange it if you're buying it from eBay or Amazon. Over are they are fantastic products and I highly recommend pick you up a mayflash pro s adapter. Still allow you to use all kinds of other Bluetooth controllers in conjunction with this converter. I've been using the sn30 Pro Plus controller on the Dreamcast. Lol

All those reviews are guided because they just don't do a basic lag testing which is this: put a real dreamcast controller against the adapter passed one, get a 2 player fight with same fighters and press the punch buttons on both simultaneously. 100% of the times the dreamcast controller will be the one punching first and winning the fight... so there is some lag

Does it save button configurations per game. ie. Roll Cancel saved just in Capcom vs. SNK2 and then you can create another button combination in another game?

As good as these Brook controllers are, I've found that on racing games laptimes are slower using a DS4

This seems like a good idea in theory, but there's one little problem here - there's no place to plug in a VMU. Sure, it says it has built-in memory, but it doesn't seem like there's any way to transfer to/from an actual VMU, so the minigames are inaccessible, and the on-screen display is out of the question (so you'll have to just guess your health in RE: Code Veronica like a primitive ape).

There’s a separate video I made last week about the OSSC which is the device I’m using in this video. It’s a line doubler which is a lot like an upscaler but with the benefit of being practically lag free

Ultra Chunky 64 yeah, I’ve got quite a few but I’ve just been running them through a random CRT and a VGA monitor I have laying about but it takes up a tonne of room. Might just bite the bullet and get a line doubler for it.

Anivel 14 that sounds like make believe. The Dreamcast uses a non standard disc that would be very expensive and be pretty pointless to replicate in a new Xbox console.
