@josephmozena7640 Жыл бұрын
That deck can never win on the play. Gemstone Caverns only taps for blue mana on the draw, so there's no way to cast Flash unless you're on the draw.
@emperornapoleon6204 Жыл бұрын
@@josephmozena7640 Correct, but it doesn’t have to. Having the play is irrelevant against Chancellor, so the key thing is beating them with Leyline in game two and tricking them into a bad sideboard in game three. Glass cannon, sure, but the whole format is - which is cool! Also, you can win on turn zero with the deck by just choosing to take the draw. You can actually outrace the triggers.
@josephmozena7640 Жыл бұрын
@@emperornapoleon6204 There's no reason to sideboard though if they can choose the draw game 3. Nothing in the deck can convince the opponent that you can beat them on the play against Chancellors. Some amount of Manamorphose gives you outs to actually cast Flash on the play alongside Spirit Guides. You could also run a bunch of Summoner's Pacts to tutor up Hulks to reduce the number of Hulks and increase the number of Spirit Guides you have access to. Theoretically, it's actually better to run way more than 60 cards so you don't actually end up drawing any of the Disciples/artifacts, and having a bunch of pacts would allow you to bump up the number of Guides so you'd reliably have access to two mana in order to cast Manamorphose. I'm sure there are other useful pact targets for some niche scenarios as well. Of particular interest would be something that could find Flash, but I can't think of anything off the top of my head.

Wins before the Chancellor triggers resolve, before Memnites get a turn, and kills even over the potentially 45 extra life that the Worldspine Wurm deck gets if you stack the deck tall enough.

I think the best way to go about this format is to just have a small package dedicated to not losing to things like chancellor of the dross and then you are free to do whatever with the rest of the deck. I am sure this is not the best thing you can do, but you could run a deck of, say, 10 nourishing shoal, 15 worldspine worm, and 35 black lotuses with the idea of playing the worldspine worm for your win condition while being immune to decking and having lifegain. Ultimately, I think you will end up with two combo decks playing against each other with a lot of counterspells (like mindbreak trap) and a small package of cards to not lose to chancellor of the dross. (As a side note, cards that let you get a card from outside of the game seem like they could be really powerful in this format, as you can literally get any card with it.)

Here's how you beat the mirror in with the Chancellor deck while keeping the theme: Play a with 10 or so copies of Soul Spike. It deals 4 damage and gains you 4 life, and you can cast it by exiling 2 black cards from your hand (ei your chancellors). You can cast it in response to your opponent triggering their Chancellors if they go first, which gains you enough life to stabilize, then they have no plan vs you slowing drawing through all of your soul spikes. If they aren't going first, just cast it with their triggers on the stack and that's still enough damage to beat them with your triggers.

back when i used to play, the stack rule was slightly different. it didn't matter whose turn it was. if you played something, then anything that was played in response to it was resolved first. but even then, if i deal enough damage to defeat you, you don't actually die until the end of that step/phase so you could turn around a defeat me and it would either be a draw or you'd gain the life to survive. The way this would have played out back in my day would be.. he would go first deal 21 damage to you, but in response you would do the same. at the end of that resolution you both would be back to 20 {20 - 21 +21 = 20) and then the game would go one until someone decked themselves first.

I kinda doubt that this format has a strictly best deck, the possibilities are just endless if players have large enough collections. For example I'm fairly sure that a healthy mix of nourishing souls, endurance, green black lands and golgari charms +1shuffle graveyard into library tec could beat both nikachus 3prone approach and the chancellor reanimator strategy. But would certainly lose to other things.

8 Leyline of Anticipation 30 Ancestral Recall 1 Timetwister 1 Pact of Negation 1 Thassa's Oracle 19 Black Lotus I think that this is pretty much unbeatable. at least consistentlly.

@@seilaoquemvc2 atleast it sounds good enough to put the game in a complete sideboard guessing game, as it still most of the time looses to like 10leylines of anticipation 44 chalice of the void 3 forests 3 nimble mongoose.

After seeing this, I've been thinking about the possibility of an even more powerful version where you're able to select your starting hand, effectively taking out all the RNG. Both players would likely play Leyline of Anticipation and be trying to turn 0 combo on top of each other on the stack. Not sure exactly what the ruleset would be. Is a 7 card deck allowed? Can we still use 60 copies of the same creature, or only 4? Would you be able to select your entire starting deck, or only your opening hand? One way to think about it could be that you're playing normal rules for your deck building, but you get infinite mulligans (so you can basically just mul til you get the right hand) and thus you effectively get to choose the starting hand. However, I feel like the format would be more interesting if you could also order the rest of your deck - It would mean that it would entirely be in the hands of both player's strategy, rather than having topdecks ever matter. With no restriction on card # or deck size the first idea that came to mind for me is player 1 playing 5x pact of negation, 1x lotus, 1x thoracle with player 2 playing 4x pact of negation, 1x leyline of anticipation, 1x lotus, 1x thoracle, with one more pact of negation in the deck player 2 would win if it ever got to their turn by drawing a card and thus gaining card advantage. note that if player 1 played leyline of anticipation they would actually be losing because both sides would be even and whoever played combo first would just get played on top of, thus people would keep passing. But here, player 1 has enough counterspells to beat player 2. However, if only 4 copies of a card are allowed, things become more tricky. You can't run 5x pact of negation, and running force of will is bad since you lose card advantage. Of course with 60 card decks, this might end up being irrelevant, as you'd need to play more than a 1 card combo anyway. The most interesting way to structure the format would probably be either 60 card decks of any cards at all with full deck order selection in mulligan phase, or 60 card decks with vintage rules with full deck order selection in mulligan phase. you'd probably just run a 15 card sideboard, but i think a lot of games would be handled without even needing the sideboard, as you could completely reshape your initial hand to use entirely different cards based on the matchup.

I would probably do something like 10 leyline of anticipation, 22 black lotus, 23 wheel of fortune, 1 emrakul, 1 blossoming calm, 1 angel's grace, 1 cling to dust. Might want to workshop it a bit more but that's my plan.

Throw in a surgical extraction for good measure
@okgut20332 ай бұрын
Chancellor of the Dross + Soul Spike (drain you can put on stack to not die also can be removal)+ Surgical Extraction (exile cards with same names) would have been my choice, but i don't know how to distribute the right amount for those cards to guarantee drain to death also the green lifegain deck still wins. ofc the hardcounter is Leyline of Sanctity. but that needs something to work around.

You can play, i suppose, play about 10 copies of simian spirit guide, 45 copies of mana morphose, a few ancestral recalls, and a grapeshot. some pact of negations in the sideboard. EDIT: and because i forgot, a flash for thassa's oracle for the lifegain deck. Win the game turn 0.
@terakhanthis Жыл бұрын
Requires playing second, but... Gemstone Mine. Two spirit guides, type irrelevant. Teferi's Protection. Start the game, your chancellor triggers stack. In response, exile the two guides, tap that land, and cast the protection. Life total cannot change, and you have nothing you can do for the rest of the game.
@duanedeal7139 Жыл бұрын
Can’t since this still happens to get that hand you’d need 3 simian spirit guides,1 manamorphose and 1 teferi’s protection which maybe u could mull into if u have 30 spirit guide 20 manamorphose 10 protection

So does this program just give you every card to use from the get go?? Cause that's what I'm looking for: the Edopro of MTG.

No. However you can rent the cards for a monthly subscription from Manatraders. Borrow any cards, return them to borrow any others; essentially having access to all the cards. I have a link and coupon code to this service in the description.
