sybylline pond, is essentially watered down black lotus that can only produce blue and it eats your land drop for the turn which is made worse that you lose the curve, play this turn 1, and then turn 2, you're on 1 mana if you play a land, maybe too strong for standard maybe around the power level for historic. stronger formats, would definitely have no problem with this imo. like what is the strongest thing you could do with this card on turn 1, a medallion? brineborn cutthroat?

Plowshares to Swords is a neat idea, but it's too broken since it enables a high probability turn 2 kill. turn 1 - lightning bolt your opponent turn 2 - cast pyretic ritual, cast PTS paying 17 life, then Fling the token at your opponent.

Even easier if your opponent doesn't have a 1-drop creature (and doesn't have any instant-speed removal they can use with 1 or possibly 0 mana)-play it for 17 in their end step, next turn attack then bolt.

The pond is at best +1 mana when compared to just an island, and you are down a mana on every following turn, doesn't sound broken

"Urgent Delivery" is stronger as it seems, because a spell is put onto the stack under your controll before its cost are determined, thus this will count itself and will cost at most 1U

To clarify on Pataphysical Cleave, I did not intend for it to mean you cast any and all creature cards you can pay from the cumulative total of all the mana the sourcery nets you by the end of its resolution, nor that you or the opponent can see or reorder the library/stack. The idea is that you go through in top-down sequence, and if you encounter a creature you can pay upon revealing it, WHILE the sorcery is STILL resolving, then you can cast it.

Legal Eagle is pretty awesome idea for card to be honest. Along side cards like Witness Protection, Legal Eagle would be right at home in Capena if Committing Crime wasn't a mechanic yet, if we ever go back to Capena, I want to see this card made real.

Is Sibylline pond even a spell tho? It's on the stack, but it wasn't cast. So no. It's like a triggered ability... but it isn't anything. I think the only way to counter it would be to end the turn or exile the stack.

They are only spells while on the stack - when you try to play a creature, it goes on the stack first as a creature spell and when that resolves, you get the creature on the field. So, for example, you could end up in a situation where you try to bring in a creature, then in response your opponent counters it, then you could (hypothetically) use urgent delivery for 1 less mana to counter their counter. After all this goes through, the creature would stop being a spell and would get put into play.

@@mapeus ok. Funnily, that makes sense. Seems magic gets around the summon limbo thing by making everything be a spell on the stack before it becomes its type on the field. That way Magic can just refer to that situation and those like it as spells. Which fits the motif of "the players are 2 wizards in a duel casting stuff"

I’m sorry thinking sibylline pond is broken assuming it’s “fair” and played straight is insane, fair meaning land recursion shenanigans don’t work. The ceiling for this is 2 blue mana turn one that you can’t hold up, to play a two drop on turn one, and untap 0 next turn. It’s not really a “0 mana ritual”. you get access to one extra mana a turn early at the cost of a real land drop for the rest of the game. If you have it exile itself after its effect resolves it seems like a really reasonable card, even bad. It’s indescribably worse than a mox + land, which is the same 2 mana, but with the mox you untap 2 mana on turn two, not 0. You have to main phase whatever you play too. Now if you can play 3 lands a turn and you have like a crucible of worlds, yeah it seems pretty insane Actually scrutinize the explore example a chatter brought up. Turn two. Play a land. Explore(draw 1, effectively replacing itself, 1 extra land drop). Play pond. Play a mono blue two drop. Your explore did not put you ahead in lands, and you blew a card on your fake land to get two mana to play the two drop. You’re in the exact same place as if you just played a two drop and didn’t explore at all, except you’re down a card. Congrats.

First of all, the Yu-Gi-Oh cards that summon a Hero monster from your deck DOES have restrictions. 2nd, most of the main deck Hero cards are only extenders and not "boss monsters," and the ones that are super powerful have causes that prevent them from being summoned easily like this. 3rd, Yu-Gi-Oh has an Extra Deck, where most of the super powerful game warping cards are, this is especially true for Hero cards. Hence, while summoning from the deck is still powerful, it's usually not gonna win the game for you on its own. Usually.

She Who wanders, I see some one around these parts enjoys legends of runeterra. She Who Wanders obliterates cards, so this should really say "Exile", or at the very least the cards in hand should be discarded instead of destroyed, as I don't think you can legally destroy card not in play. But to match the original card better, it really should be Exile, because Obliterate is effectively the same keyword, the cards are removed from the game.

Corina Veraza, is the bad version of Corina anyways, like that card isn't even good in Runeterra. In Magic that mana cost is absurdly high, honestly it's absurd in runeterra, in Runeterra you have a max 10 mana (+3 spell mana that you can bank), playing her is your entire turn, for what could end up doing like 2 damage or zero... The other Corina is a way way way better card, like playing her is usually instantly killing your opponent or almost killing them and/or board wiping your opponent, but I have no idea how you would try to represent her mechanic of triggering traps in the deck to make sense in Magic.

For Urgent Delivery, the affinity for spells. It's not stack based. Creatures, artifacts, enchantments in play are considered spells you control. Really good counter card.
