For folks who weren't raised in the 1990s, let me give you context on the Foams story. The All Blue Foamposites didn't come out until April of 1997. That's the end of the season. Which speaks to Pippen saying "I wore them first, then later on I see them focusing on packaging them in the Orlando Magic colorway." Early in the 1996-97 season, there were only White Foamposites Pros, with the large black Nike check & they weren't initially released for retail. Ray Allen wears this pair in the film "He got game." Though released in April 1998, but was filmed over a year before hitting theaters. After opting to make them a signature Penny, rather than it be a statement PE of Pippen (like the Nike More Uptempo), Nike then used Mike Bibby to Premier/ debut them during the 1997 NCAA Final Four. Which was perfect marketing on their part. Regardless of whether you think the shoes fit Penny more, or you're calling Pippen bitter, he has a point! They look nothing like the first 2 pairs of Penny's. Nor is "Penny" featured in the shoe's name, like his other signatures, . And the pair with the 1cent spike on the ankle doesn't come out til around the playoffs, instead of before Christmas.
