I only run in Nikes. They all take about 20 miles for me to break in. They hurt my feet until then but once I’m past 20ish miles they’re the best for me. They’ve just always fit my feet better than all the other brands. QD: I moved to Guatemala this year and seeing a volcano erupt is pretty nuts. It makes me feel like I’m in Lord of the Rings approaching Mt. Doom! 😄

I’ve been surprised by the Pegasus. Got my first Pegs (38) on sale with zero expectations, stiff out of the box but it really comes to life for me at tempo or steady pace. As opposed to most other brands, the midsole gets better and softer over time. Still rocking the 38 every once in a while and got about 400k on them. They are well built and very durable.

Man, 38 are my favourites. God knows how many kilometers I ran in them though the mud and dust. You can easily splash them with the water and they would look brand new. Soft, squishy, comfortable. In them my legs feels like home and ready to go. Did few halfs in them, got black nail once, but thats fiiine 😂 Now I'm having v. 39, ran in them my first marathon and have to say it was not the best experience. Should have gone with invincibles imho... Break in time was also kinda long. Now they are over 200k and I'm pretty happy doing 10k with them, but nothing more. Washed them on the car wash as well, crazy durable!

Same here. I got the 38, my first Pegasus. Initially while i like the fit, i did not like the feel on my foot. Now though, especially since i just got back into running, it feels great as soon as i put it on, hugging my foot in all the right places.

I have been using several shoes so far in 2023, and out of the box, it was perfect and extremely comfortable, and I did am amazing first run with only two shoes : Asics Gel-Nimbus 25 and the Nike Pegasus 40 ! Last year, for some reason, I had to run a lot with my Pegasus 39 but not this version #40 !

I felt that a midsole of pegs was ready to go right out of the box. It's simply magic. For example my new NB More v3 even after 40 km feels like a dead expired foam on pair of bricks. I can't force myself to put them on. They cause real pain after runs.
@hamshipey4279

The problem with the Peg today.....is that there are so many better options. When I was running in the 80's the Peg was the best option. Sure it's not a bad shoe.....but I never see anyone running in them where I go.

true that. puma velocity nitro 2, for example, can perform the same (if not better) as the peg 40, with similar stack height but in a lighter package.

I can't speak for the Pegasus, but the midsole being a bit stiff out of the box reminds me of the Noosa tri 14. First run I wasn't sure of that shoe. After 50 miles it got sooo much better. After 100 it was even better!! Absolutely love this shoe and at 300 miles we are going strong with no end in sight! Great review Seth!

Good stuff as always, Seth! Any chance we'll get a review of the Vomero 17's since Nike seems to have revamped the series both in terms of style and tech, with the dual-foam midsole? Looks like it sits somewhere between the Pegs and the Invincible.

Seth, looking for a tempo/threshold shoe. I currently use the Endorphin Speeds and agree with you that they are a great shoe, but maybe not best for fast days. I prefer to save carbon shoes for track days/race days. Any recommendations?

:QOD: I was stationed in Oklahoma City in 1999. On May 3rd, I watched what, at the time, was the biggest and strongest tornado crossing a field towards my house. When the softball sized hail started to fall, I went inside and went into an inside wall bathroom. After it passed, I opened the door and my entire house was basically gone along with all my posessions.

RQD (random question of the day)... when I was in high school band, one Friday night there was a meteor that floated across the sky. It seemed to sizzle and was huge. It also seemed to move more slowly than it ought to be. Really seemed otherworldly. God has created some amazing things for us to experience.

This is an amazing shoe!! Don't have it yet but this brings temptations to try. QD. Natural occurence: being adjacent to a river during a huge rainfall. We saw the river flow maybe 10 feet higher than normal. This is an amazing experience and dangerous.

Just got the Peg40 and am disappointed that there is some defect. The tongue on the left is shorter. And yeah it felt a bit stiff when i put it on. Do Pegasus over time conforms to the foot? I ask coz the Peg38 i got now hugs my foot perfectly as soon as i put it on. Initially, it’s ok but did not feel like that.

@@q.1167 I thunk it’ll take a while for that. But it feels ok now on my feet compared to the first time i wore it where the initial thought was i don’t like how it feels. I began liking it every run i did. Been running in it more often now than my other shoes. I just used it on light trails last sunday and it did ok even on loose dirt. I like the grip.
