Great video. I am one that struggles with the Pegasus line tbh. I had the 39s and just found them so unresponsive and firm. Subsequently bought the Puma Velocity Nitro 2 and just feel it serves the exact same purpose, but just better in every way. But opinions are what keeps the game fresh. Keep up the good work 👍

Part of what is making the Peg41 a tough sell for me, as well… it how excellent the Puma Velocity Niter 3 and Adidas Supernova Rise are. Two shoes that overlap with the Peg41 nearly identically.

Thank you. More stack height has it's place, even I have warmed up to that. But the foot strength building of a lower stack shoe, with more flex in it, is unbeatable. A few great options out there in 2024 for that too.

Outside of their racing lineup, Nike is a tire fire, when compared to the offerings from their competitors. And unfortunately, that doesn't look like it's going to change anytime in the short term. Thankfully, 99.9% of us aren't locked into a single brand.

How do you feel about 10mm drop shoes? Do you think that’s an optimal drop length for everyone/an everyday runner? I have the Peg 40s and I think due to the 10mm drop I find it hard to run slow in the things.
@SagasuRunning
@SagasuRunning 4 ай бұрын
I think they are what they are. For a shoe that is designed for everyone, at all levels, a 10mm drop is fine. For a brand new runner, heel striking hard, it’s a life saver. I would expect the Pegasus Plus to have a 8mm drop, as Nike’s more performance shoes have seemed to have moved there.
@Chungdol

I liked the prototype designe a bit better. The pegasus had become the ghost of Brooks, basically the same shoe for 4 years. So Iam glad they change more things this time. The 10mm drop is still a little meh to me. I would love to see it at 8mm. Its weird how people seriously say they dont feel drop differences. But then its maybe me who runs for- and midfoot strike. It feels really arkward to me to heelstrike. But ill wait for the invincible run 4 or how ever it gets called then... So far the peg41 is another skip for me. I now face the decision of whether getting the 40’s (discounted of course) or go for the 41? ReactX isn’t new. It was out last year. Additionally it’s still React, it just uses a different molding process. However, it’s too soft, IMO. I think the jury is out until we can run in the 41. The 40 was great and if you can get a good deal I’d say go for it.

@@SagasuRunning Saucony, Puma, Asics make much better daily trainers. Nike are cost cutting because of underperforming stock price. the stock were 18% in 2021, -30% in 2022. SR02 foam labeled as zoom x is an example of cutting costs. The 41st version of the Pegasus shouldn't be heavier. and what exactly is react X?
@SagasuRunning
@SagasuRunning 4 ай бұрын
The weight thing is a problem, agree. Puma’s Velocity Nitro is great. Asics is not so great beyond the Novablast 4, and there a little too much foam to be a daily shoe. Im a shoe designer and developer and love Nikes. You shouldn't be too concerned about late stage proto corrections. That can occur for many reasons, including responding to new data, management battles for control, pricing considerations, marketing overplaying their hand, merchandising adjustments and more. I do agree that a softer foam midsole will result in more extreme compressive forces on the air bag if not as evenly distributed as before, so it may be more likely to be felt and fail.

This video combined with the last one made me wonder if the baseline Peg needs to be “worse” - including heavier - in order to align with the good, better, best stratagem. There needs to be enough differentiation to create space for two more premium models above the baseline.
@SagasuRunning
@SagasuRunning 4 ай бұрын
It seems that way. However, I don't think they are starting from any worst of a palce with the 41, than they did with the 40, or 39, 0r 36, etc. May people's problem with the Peg is that it never drastically changes, which is ok. Now with the product line tiers, Nike has given themselves room to add/remove elements they never could (or would) with the base model. I'm curious how this will play out over the next few years.

If they could cut 1oz (28g) even if the shoe is problematic it would be a hero at that weight. Boring shoes are necessary… the Peg and the SL are the two that really get me. I have a note of “June 5th limited release and July 1 full release” for the Peg 41. Not sure here I picked it up but it was trusted enough I noted it. Nike did say June in their press release, however with Nike lately a release means a lucky lottery only in certain countries… so we will see. Pegs generally are pretty common though… 🤷🏼‍♂️

@@mymoviefilms Exactly the issue with most recycled consumables like shoes/clothes. They use a ton of toxic chemicals to bond literally trash they throw into a mold or mixer. The result often looks somewhat decent but it gets thrown back into the garbage again in no time because the quality will never be that of a freshly made product. So it sounds good on paper but it just doesn't work. The Alphafly Next nature looked like it came straight out of a garbage bin and it literally degraded after 10-20 miles for a lot of people. Not to mention 20 grams more heavy then a fresh pair of Alphafly and about €20 more expensive. Mostly because it's more expensive to make because of distribution of recycle materials and less not talk about "electricity/coal, gasoline/oil needed to distribute material. The people currently employed do not think. And putting a severely depressed Eliud Kipchoge in a gimp suit to do promotion work doesn't sell these shoes any better either.
