Gentlemen, great review as usual. I just got the TS8 which look a lot different from previous versions of this shoe. TS8 I feel is definitely more versatile and I think you could take it up to the Half. Adidas now have a nice full suite of shoes from the Boston 10 ( which go to work when you pick up the pace), TS8, Adios 6 and the Adios Pro. If any of you guys are in NYC, please say hello. We have a lot of very good road races happening here on a weekly basis. Thank you. Will

I ran a 5k PB on the Takumi last weekend, I absolutely love this shoe. Ran 2 track sessions on it, just great to run on this shoe. I wear 11.5US with 83 kgs, feels like you run on weightless springs.

For me, which I think you generally agree with, I feel both are fun shoes and useful options but I am not seeing either as "faster for me" over even 5K. Vaporfly NEXT% still my go to race shoe. Although both seem relatively "minimal" both are undoubtedly far more cushioned than the Adios 1 (1st Boost version) or even some of the pre Boost ones I used to race road miles to marathons in up until about 4 years ago. Just had to accept sore legs for longer after races :) Takumi Sen 8 definitely a bit firmer and perhaps I felt I preferred that for track reps over the Streakfly which as well as being softer has a wider splay. I do have long narrow feet however so anything "wider" is usually not what I ideally prefer. The prices were a bit skewed for me as I found a 35% off voucher for the Takumi Sen 8 so at £110 seemed a lot better value than at £170. With the Streakfly was a case of being lucky and getting in there when they dropped. Perhaps clever marketing by both companies to tempt us into buying more shoes when perhaps don't really need them but when was need the only reason for more shoes LOL !
@TheRunTesters2 жыл бұрын
Yep def agree on that, though I (Nick) would say if coming fresh to this world and getting the kind of deal you did on the Takumi, it's as good an option as anything out there for short stuff.

I think people forget about Asics Metaspeed Edge, overshadowed by bigger brother Sky, which I think would be a competition for shorter distance race

I struggle to get the TS 8 on. Need to wear thin socks. The tongue it stitched to the upper - short seams on each side close to the lace eyelets. Bottlenecks the opening. I guess to keep the tongue from sliding down. There certainly are better ways. Aside from this one issue, love these shoes.

I struggle to get up to speed with TS8 but like the traction and feels OK at slower paces, yet the foam feels more responsive than the SF. The SF feels a bit dead but they worked really well for short sharp intervals but put a carbon shank in them for the next iteration. Both grip really well which is ideal for Parkruns.

The Streakfly doesn't seem such a great bargain when it's unavailable, and is therefore unlikely to be discounted any time soon, whereas I can pick up the Takumi Sen for £135 now. I shall probably not bother though, as I am "cursed" with a surplus of shoes! Maybe by the time I have worn out my Hyperion Tempo, these will be even cheaper.

On a tangent, I'd be interested in your thoughts on the Soil Shakers (brilliant name) from SportsShoes. I've just picked up a pair for £40 after Trail Running Magazine gave them 9/10 (based on them being £80). They feel a little cheap, but they have some huge lugs. Perhaps Keiran could stick them through his next ultra? ;) I did 8 miles in them yesterday and they gave me loads of confidence. Feel a bit like football boots on tarmac, but they were excellent in the forest. Also, a review of the Floatride 4 would be great! They only seem to be in stock at JD Sports, but I've got a pair on order. Version 3 is such a great shoe and I remember you were pretty positive about it. :)
@TheRunTesters2 жыл бұрын
We love the Soil Shaker haha - Tom and I (Nick) have both used and enjoyed the 2, and it's always been a fave among my running club for ploughing though muddy forests. I'm on the case with the Floatride 4 (and Reeboks carbon shoe!), not been able to get it yet.

How does the Streakfly compare to the Nike 4% Vaporfly. Can't help but thing the Streakfly could have be a great shoe if it had a carbon/nylon plate.
@no79way Жыл бұрын
I tried both. The adidas takumi sen is more reliable shoes and more fun to wear in practice compared to the Streakfly. I am saying this as a big vaporfly nike fan.
@leonsshare2 жыл бұрын
Great comparison, I haven't tried any Adidas so far, having trained for 1000s of km in a couple of pairs of peg turbo 2's and race in vaporfly 2's, I'm trying to get a pair of streakfly for speed and track workouts to spread the training load and eek out a bit more life from the turbo 2s, as there's no finding them now! I think they nailed the midsole on the turbo 2 for that extra protection of the zoomx react foam combo.
@TheRunTesters2 жыл бұрын
Thanks, and judging by the online rumour mill I think we'll see a Turbo replacement this year hopefully!
@leonsshare2 жыл бұрын
@@TheRunTesters I would really like to see a Turbo 3, the tempo next%'s were not an adequate replacement in my opinion, I'm not a fan at all of the exposed air pods as the rupturing of them is so well documented. It's why I've never bought those or alphafly race shoes, sticking with solid foam tech. Keep up the good work, you made a subscriber out of me

Seems Nile have missed the boat, as the Streakfly promised to be a fast Vaporfly, yet it seems the ZoomX is lower grade and shoe too soft.

How do they compare to the Asics meta racer that came out a few years ago. I really like the meta racer. Hopefully they update it
@TheRunTesters2 жыл бұрын
The Metaracer is lower and a bit firmer, great shoe but I (Nick) prefer the bouncier foams used in the Takumi and Streakfly myself. I’d like to try a Metaracer with the Metaspeed Sky foam in it!
@grantmckay70142 жыл бұрын
Would it replace the Endorphin Speed then in a rotation? I currently use the Speed for 800m interval sessions.
@TimGrose2 жыл бұрын
For that use case only then IMHO either could yes. Indeed a did a session of 800s in both recently to test that out. However I used my Speeds more as a relatively lightweight everyday trainer and not so often for actual sessions - for which would tend to wear an older pair of my carbon racers like the NEXT%.
@TheRunTesters2 жыл бұрын
Yep they are great options for 800m, though less versatile than the Endo Speed which I (Nick) use happily for pretty much anything.

Which one is more suitable for daily trainer, if I have metaspeed sky for racing?
@cmo32 жыл бұрын
The Streakfly looks like a better option for training but I prefer the tempo next percent.
@TimGrose2 жыл бұрын
IMHO neither - save both these for fast workouts.

Yeah I (Nick) wouldn't be daily training in either tbh. If you already have the Metaspeed Sky I'd get a more training focussed shoe to pair with it.

Ignoring what these shoes are 'meant' for/ marketed as, is there any reason why you couldn't use the Takumi for a half marathon. Again, ignoring other more obvious options.
@TheRunTesters2 жыл бұрын
Of course not! It would be a great half option, and a good marathon racer too. I (Nick) just would rather use other shoes for those events.

ZoomX isn't a great foam for this type of shoe. Also, a more relaxed fit isn't a plus, it's a big minus. It doesn't need to be a joy to put them on, that has no importance.
