Nike Tempo NEXT% vs Nike Zoom Fly 4: Which is the best Nike fast training shoe?

I used the Tempo next % in a recent marathon and took 30mins off my PB. They felt great and gave me the confidence to keep up a faster pace for the early stages and beyond the half mark. True, they did feel a bit clumpy for the last couple of miles when my pace slowed and my form rocked backwards a bit. I will probably save them for my next marathon in April and rack up training miles in my Endorphin Speed. 😜

Thanks for another great video. I just got the Next% because Nike offered a 50% reduction on their homepage and they have a generous return policy. My normal fast trainer is Speed 2 and before New Balance TC. I prefer those shoes but Next% is very good for getting used to the running mechanics of the Alphafly. I had a good Marathon in my Alphafly in the Autumn, but I wished I could have trained more in them without wearing them out. Now I can do that with my Next%

I have just reached 100 km in my Tempo Next% and I am enjoying them a lot. For me they are much better than Zoomfly in all types of runs and they excell endorphin speed in intervals, being Speed more versatile. After a lot of negative reviews, Iam quite surprised and thinking about getting my second pair of Tempo. Great video Nick!!!

All a matter of taste and preference. I absolutely love the pop of the tempo as a 80 kg mid/for foot runner. The zoomfly doesnt really agree with me and i wore the outsole out in 200 kms.

The thing I love about these training shoes is that I can use them as my race shoe as I am not super fast and don’t wanna pump all the money into the top shoes

I have to agree 100%. Tempo next is great for speed work but sucks on an easy long run. The zoomfly almost feels like it takes 100 miles to run itself in. Very stiff with not much pop unless you up the speed a bit andeven then its not great. Love the turbo 2 and did all my last marathon training in a pair, speed, hills and long runs, hurry with the turbo 3 nike.

Agree totally that the Next% is a one trick pony but, when you have it up to speed, it really feels great. My major issue with it is the grip in damp or greasy conditions, it's just awful!

Would say neither - TempoNext% is so stiff, loud and the heel is unstable and eventually gave me ITBand. Zoom Fly is a bit softer but it's aggressive, narrow and rather unstable also. Both of these shoes are better for people with narrower feet. Endorphin Speed and Hoka Mach 4 are much better choices.

Much prefer the Endorphin Speed (1, 2 or 3?) as an all rounder that works for fast training and am also enjoying the Brooks Hyperion Tempo. If you can only afford one or two pairs or, to be fair, only want one or two pairs then the Next% is just too narrow in its operating window

Yeah I agree it ends up a bit niche when there are such amazing alternatives from other brands. Even in rotation with a Nike racer, I'd always opt for Speed as my training partner.

@@TheRunTesters Ive had 2 pairs of Saucony ES's but i keep piercing a hole in the upper with my big toe, I think they're too narrow in the toe box so looking for something else. Ive had zoom fly flyknits, 4%s and vaporfly next% 2 so thinking of trying the tempo next% this time.

I just picked up the zf4 for 60 euros! I think it's a no brainer at that price, it replaced my worn down zf3!

@@andreassthre7304 the sizing is almost the same. i think they are just a little bit more narrow and the upper is smaller. there isn't as much lose material for me. but it sure is an improvement for me.
