The beautiful statue of Victory in Louvre, Paris, has with respect to other archaeological work, a very sad history: French soldiers removed it from its location while the Greek local villagers tried to stop them from removing it from the ancient ruins. Then the French soldiers opened fire. This statue has a lot of blood upon it.

Lets not forget that most of Aegean Island suffered from the change of religion as well as earthquake and many works of art got eventually destroyed. Therefore is safe to assume that the statue is the same as during its time in Greece. There are many stories like this but it will mess you up if you ever studied them (and you have a quantum of humanity within you). Take care yourself and the people you love.
