The Nike Vaporfly 3 is officially here! We didn't see a single Vaporfly 3 prototype among the top 10 men and women at the New York City Marathon, but by then, Jeff Dengate already had in a pair for testing. Here's how the Vaporfly 3 performs, after four months of workouts and racing.

The third version of the Vaporfly is essentially an entirely new shoe, but it doesn’t deviate too far from the original model. Nike didn’t want to reinvent a shoe that was already working so well, and looked to make small tweaks that improve upon the existing racer. Even so, it uses all-new components.
Nike overhauled the Vaporfly from the rubber up, looking to make the third version the lightest yet. In Jeff's men’s size 12, the shoe sees only a 0.1-ounce drop from version 2 (the first Next% was 0.4 ounces lighter still). So, it’s not the lightest ever, but it’s still lighter than competitors like the Asics MetaSpeed Sky+, Saucony Endorphin Pro 3, New Balance FuelCell SuperComp Elite v3, Adidas Adizero Adios Pro 3, and Puma Deviate Elite 2.

I have the Next% pink like you do, and I didn’t love the gap around the ankle collar that a lot of runners experienced with it. Does this version eliminate that? It looked to be a better fit in the video. Thanks!

Ohhh what a beauty. I like Vaporfly Next 1 and Metaspeed Sky v1. Next 2 is not the same for the upper and the ZoomX seems firmer than in V1. I hope ZoomX in v3 can be similar in terms of bounciness and reactivity because v2 is different on feel. Great video🎉🎉🎉💪

Is the upper material the same as the 2s? I love vapoeflys but the only thing that throws me off in these are the heel design. That squared off foam with a platform doesn't do it for me compared to the sharper look of the previous models. Everything else looks great!

Perfect fit for me in its previous two versions. Best racing shoe I ever had. But its durability was not great. Because it is so expensive, using it for racing marathons feels a bit like a ritual sacrifice each time. You feel like quite a bit of the shoe dies in the race.

I have several pairs of Vaporflys, from the 4% to the Next% 2. All of them lasted very long, the last pair of Next% 2 now has over 600km on them and the midsole/outsole/upper is still holding up well. As long as you stay on paved roads/asphalt and don‘t hit dirt/packed gravel etc. they hold up great. For me I definitely got a goof return on investment, you can basically get the Next% on sale all over the place now which makes them even more interesting.
@hynekjanousek7887

@@runfrankfurt Lucky you. In my first pair, I noticed a considerable change in rebound effect after my Prague Marathon (I kept about 4:10/km and there are some cobbles so they got some pounding). At that time the had about 100km in them. Otherwise, they do still look good. Nothing is tearing or falling off, no holes in the sole. Except they feel dead. And after the marathon the left shoe had a slightly different feel to the right one, as I have a slightly uneven stride.

I am new to running. Started 3 yrs ago at 57 yrs old. I'm 60 now. I'm not fast at all but want as comfortable as shoe on race days as possible. I'm basically been running the Mach 5 daily and race days. Getting ready to run my 3rd half marathon in mid April. I've got a 5k first week of March and a 10k end of March. My half pace is 2hrs and 21 min. Would this be good shoe for me for race days? I like lighter shoes but want more comfort also. Mach is great but I really feel my feet knees and stuff by mile 6.

Is the stack height in larger sizes more than 40mm?
@JeffDengate
@JeffDengate Жыл бұрын
Yeah, they can be. And World Athletics took that into consideration when it drafted the rules that limit thickness: "World Athletics acknowledges that an Athletic Shoe above that standard sample size might contain a marginally thicker sole than that of a standard sample size shoe of the same make and model, which marginal increase in sole thickness is only attributable to the larger size of the shoe. Such marginal increases will be disregarded for the purposes of confirming compliance with these Rules."
