The Zegamas are almost an excellent trail cruiser let down by a terrible rubber compound on the outsole which is lethal on wet rock and slippery surfaces. V2 with Vibram Megagrip should put em over the top. Forefoot is a wee bit pinchy. Bouncines is lovely, not quite as dialled as Tecton X.

Having since tested them on slick rock, I agree, they’re super slippy on that type of surface! Great on mud, gravel, and hard packed though. I’ll update my written review on trailandkale.com to reflect this 👍🏼 and yes the Tectonic x2 is awesome, if only it had more aggressive lugs!

I just got them for 70€, my plan is to resole them with vibram megagrip once I wear the original outsole

I agree with everything you said. However, it took me more than 100km to run them in. I think the bad rep of the shoes comes from people who have only run a couple of 10ks and then given up on them. The outsole is dangerously slippery though on wet rocks and roots but it’s fine in mud and wet gravel. The vibram outsole will hopefully solve that in the next version

Agree vibram mega grip is far superior. It’s the best outsole choice for a trail shoe that’s for sure.

Those are some good looking trail shoes. Would they be good for hiking, too?

Yes I suppose they would be! They’re certainly well cushioned and have a nice breathable upper.

I think too unstable for hiking
