Sudhir Shah's comment is right. It is observed that due to loose connection at neutral point somewhere either in your house or main supply source, there will be higher than 10 - 15 volt between Neutral to Earth. This condition of supply line should be taken care of, otherwise higher the voltage between Neutral and Earth can lead to damage to sensitive electronic equipment and shock hazards to the equipment user.

The ideal Voltage between Neutral and Earth should always be " 0 " . It should never be more than 5 volts. But to confirm that, Earth connection is in a proper working condition, the Voltage reading between Phase and Earth should be 5 to 10 volts less than voltage between Phase and neutral. If there is " 0 " voltage between Neutral to Earth as well as between Phase to Earth, then it is understood that, Earth connection is either disconnected or not provided to that point.

yes it is interesting aspect, but seems to be correct. I think one point why the voltage between neutral and earth appears which is due to unbalanced load on three phases from the distribution transformer. This reason has not been highlighted.

Phase to Earth 220v and Phase to Neutral 220v ac. Neutral to Earth 2 to 3 volts, Neutral to Ground 0v ac.

I think it is correct to have voltage between earth and neutral around 3 to 5 volts, according to me, if there is more voltage than that, then there may be a fault in some device of the house.

One more very important and reason should have been mentioned here which is happening majority time rather than other reasons. Sometime the neutral from the power company creates such problems in neutral level increases due to some fault there, but resolves on its on. During such period you get about 20 to 30 voltas between neutral and Earth. Please comment 🙏

Great Video but you must point out that this is only good for India, as it's wiring is spur for each room for sockets in UK and may be in Europe the Socket wiring is ring mains wiring and it uses 2.5mm wire for Live & Neutral and 1mm for Earth wire

नमस्ते सर, अगर मेरे यहां फेस और न्यूट्रल में 250v आता है तो फेस और अर्थिंग प्वाइंट पर 230v मिलता है....क्या मेरी earthing strong मानी जाएगी? मैंने घर के लास्ट खंभे के स्टेक वायर से अर्थिंग ली है....और सेफ्टी के लिए जब खंभा लगाया जा रहा था तो स्टेक वायर और खंभे के बीच एक हेवी इंसुलेटर लगवा दिया था जिससे अगर कभी खंभे में लीकेज आ जाए तो वो स्टेक वायर में ना आए।

I have made new earthing at home because the old one is showing more than 230volt between nutral to earth at all the points. Now, the neutral to earth is between 16v to 22 volt at all points. No appliances are damaged or malfunction. How to resolve the more voltage between neutral to earth. Wiring done by builder looks poor, and almost all points were loose connections. And seems extended neutral wire from main point. Some. Do suggest the best way to solve the problem. Thanks

First check the load on neutral.. make proper bus bar as well as if possible implement RCCB.. upto 10v is also ok between neutral and earth
