Thank You bro, your video is the answer to my question . yesterday I asked for distilled water in an auto store, he gave me a bottle which was marked "battery water" - danger -not for drinking, to my curiosity I tasted the water, it was acidic in nature and normal distilled water has no taste its just a flat taste (I have used distilled water earlier). I added the water with a syringe in my 4 years 3 months Exide Battery and kept the engine on for about 15 minutes, all the while I was wondering why the water tasted acidic, with your video I understood that a small percent of acid is added, is there any reason why the acid is added? if it was distilled water I would have used the balance to my wash or radiator. are these battery water level indicators available in market?

Another question, is there any difference of power between dry and water batteries, because if u take an example of kinetic Honda scooter which runs on 12v5a water battery, if u attach dry battery it will not start, it will start only with water battery. If possible make a video on this topic.

Best alternative to the distilled water is rainwater.... Most of the time mid monsoon rain water has TDS level around 6 to 8 which is ideal for batteries.... I am using rain water from past 10 years with good battery life... My car batteries giving 5 years and inverter battery 8 years

Battery Electrolyte Composition: Lead-Acid Batteries: Typically, the electrolyte in a lead-acid battery is a mixture of sulfuric acid (H₂SO₄) and water. The specific gravity of this electrolyte is usually around 1.265 to 1.280 when the battery is fully charged. The electrolyte in a fully charged battery is about 30-35% sulfuric acid by volume, but this is a carefully balanced concentration that should not be altered unless specifically required. 2. Topping Up Battery Electrolyte: Use Distilled Water: When the electrolyte level in a battery drops due to evaporation, the water evaporates, but the acid does not. Therefore, you should only add distilled water (or D.M. water) to restore the electrolyte to the correct level. Adding an acid solution can disrupt the balance of the electrolyte, leading to a higher concentration of acid, which can damage the battery by increasing the corrosion rate and potentially reducing the battery’s lifespan. 3. Risks of Adding Acid: Over-Acidification: Adding more acid increases the concentration, leading to a higher specific gravity, which can cause overcharging, increased corrosion of the battery plates, and reduced battery life. Heat Generation: Over-concentration of acid can also lead to increased heat generation during charging, which can cause the electrolyte to boil and potentially damage the battery. 4. When to Add Acid: Only When Necessary: Acid should only be added when the battery is new or if there has been a spill and the electrolyte has been lost. In normal maintenance situations, adding distilled or demineralized water is the correct procedure. Conclusion: For Topping Up: Use only distilled or demineralized water to top up the battery. Do not add a 35% acid solution. For Special Cases: If the battery requires acid due to spillage or other specific maintenance instructions, refer to the battery manufacturer’s guidelines or consult a professional.
