When I first heard this song, I initially thought it was about a failed romantic relationship. But the more I listened to it, I started thinking it was more about losing a close friend. Lines like “I loved you like family” And “and now you expect me to wanna get brunch” Now, I know brunch is a broad term for any particular relationship but it drew me back to when the girls back in the music video of “ocean’s and engines” asked Niki to pull up to “brunch” - I’ve always personally viewed brunch as a friend get together anyway.
