It's weird but this was my farewell song with Seattle. It was my last day and I wasn't 100% ready for my flight back home the next morning. I watched planes flying over to land at Seatac from the rooftop of UW's ATG building, just in time for a violet sunset. It was really blissful. I had this song playing on repeat because the lyrics just happened to resonate. It still feels like yesterday.. thank you Niki for such a beautiful and powerful song :")

I remember vividly how I felt when I first heard this song a couple of years back. My understanding then was very shallow compared to my views now. I recall knowing that this song is for the love we can't have because of whatever reasons. But now, there are certain things that are sticking out to me more. Letting go is not just about dropping what no longer makes you happy, sometimes, it's also about still feeling the warmth of their hand holding onto yours when a cold breeze brush your skin but now, you have your gloves and scarf to keep you from freezing. I totally experienced the story in this song. It is so deep hitting my heart. That person who was with me all the time, enjoying the sweet life during the tough school year. But as NIKI said, the beautiful love story died too soon. It was so heart breaking when we suddenly just became a stranger in a night. I felt like I lost my pillars too. Wow, everything about this is so well-done and well-executed! It’s always cool to see as an Asian artist, esp a fellow Indonesian, doing this type of thing because one would typically associate this particular sound or storytelling with a white (and preferably from the U.S.) artist. There’s a handful of other Indonesian acts with similar aesthetic (folk/acoustic vibes, performing in English) worth checking out: Stars & Rabbit, Oscar Lolang, Endah N Rhesa, Rendy Pandugo, Gabriela Fernandez and Adhitia Sofyan, among many others. Get to their stuff! There are so many great talents from Indonesia!

Yenow what? This may not be an amazing year for movies, but this is one of the best at least in my opinion for my favorite music. This song and Glimpse of us' by Joji gives me so much cinematic vibes. So many Studio Ghibli, La La land, and West Side Story vibes.
