Damn it. That first verse hit me like a fucking truck. I just ended a not-yet-a-relationship with someone who felt like the one - we were pretty much already in agreement about being each other’s love of our lives because of the specific circumstances and history involved. However, when I admitted to being an atheist to this person who was a Christian, things began to get a bit weird. We tried to make it work for a while but that elephant in the room was inflating each passing day. I accepted this person’s beliefs- but this person can’t do the same for me. This person wanted me to change, but I’ve gone down that deconstruction path too far to come back. He wanted to save me; I do that believe there’s anything to “save” me from. I knew it wasn’t going to work out in the long run… so instead of fooling ourselves and letting my loneliness and stop him from finding the one for him, I let him go. Even though I don’t think I’ll ever find someone who could ever read and understand the often-misunderstood me like he does. NIKI, I love you. But those opening lines were very rude 🤣
