Thanks BetterHelp for sponsoring this video! You can give it a try using my link betterhelp.com/nikiproshin I hope you got the idea what I feel towards living in Asia. There are so many things to talk about, I just highlighted some of things that I enjoy (and just one that I don't really apprentice here). There are many other aspects of life that I couldn't mentioned in a short video, that is something to share with you in my future uploads. Thank you for staying with me ❤

My goodness. I live in Ky and have for almost 40 years, I hardly lock my doors. I've traveled all around the world and the US and been to some sketchy places. @@wasdq9748 I live in a small rural town in Southern Kentucky, we're overran by meth and other terrible drugs, people who feel they have no other recourse in life but to steal, to usually feed their addiction, an addiction that I want to assume they got because life is just rough anymore, we have inflation unlike anything we've seen in my life, thankfully I own my home no mortgage or I'd be in the streets too, because even in a town of 2,500 people you can't afford rent now on 1 job. most jobs pay $7.25 to a max of $12 if you go to the factories, life has changed in rural Kentucky, unless you're lucky to live in a gated community, our local Kroger and McDonald's has homeless every morning begging for money, and I won't make judgements on why they're having such a terrible time in life, because life is hard and judgement of the poor doesn't help me, we need to focus more on judging the mega-rich who never even pay taxes anymore, while our cities and even small towns are now crumbling

There are always pros and cons no matter where you live as life is short to do the things we don't love doing. Cheaper is not always better but there's an option in life. Because of the war and genocide, I had to leave Cambodia in 1979 and came to US and I'm very happy to call home for freedom and unlimited opportunities. I took my early retirement to travel to see the world especially Thailand, Vietnam, and Cambodia as we still have some relatives there due to the war. I like to visit these countries but not to live there. The US is more expensive of course but the living standards and social benefits are not even close to be compatible. Again, be mindful and open minded of your surroundings. Peace ✌️

What feels safe and what feels like home is all a state of mind. It is different for everyone. Some people feel safe knowing all the major crimes that happened around them every day. Some feel safer not knowing. Some feel safer by the people around them. Others, by the people not around. Some feel safe only if they have "enough" money, or carry a weapon, or have a certain privileged status, or fit in, or can be themselves, or any number of things. Home is where you feel safe . It's not a specific place. It is not just where things are familiar. I am glad you have found where you feel at home. Not everyone has that.

I've lived in Asia a decade. Same reasons as everyone. People are nicer, money waaay better than Europe and cheaper cost of living so save more. Specifically in Myanmar I feel more connected to the universe and all things spiritual. I miss East Europe so later I may just do like most and spend summers in Europe and most of the time here. For now I don't feel like going back to Europe as so many troubles in our part of the world. Asia is home. Like you I also speak Chinese which is super useful in Myanmar.

I live in the US. Despite what you may have heard about us I feel safe here. I can go for a walk at night without fear. I don't need to lock my door. Yes it is true there are more dangerous places but in most communities things are pretty good. And for medical emergencies this is a great place. If I need help emergency services are second to none. Response time in most places is really good. We spend tax money to have a robust police force, fire departments, and hospitals. Does it cost more? Yes, and more than it should. Is it worth it? Hell yeah. Medical emergency services have saved the lives of my friends and family members, where they would have died in Asia, without a doubt. Just my opinion.

‘Home is the place where, when you have to go there, They have to take you in. ”From Robert Frost's 1915 poem, "The Death of the Hired Man," the moral and practical dilemma facing a farm couple, themselves just getting by, is what to do about old Silas - we would now call him a homeless person. Silas, who has worked as a hired hand on their farm unreliably and one too many times, has returned to them worn out, addled of mind and exhausted of heart.

I love travelling and travel widely but it is a shame that for now, I make a conscious effort to not travel to USA and South America for safety reasons. Even in big cities in Europe, daily petty crimes eg. pickpocket is something to watch out for. Asia, on the other hand, is very safe at least for the majority of the countries eg. Singapore, China, Japan, S. Korea, HK and Taiwan, etc.

What you say is accurate. I live in the Philippines. But before that, I spent 20 years in the USA. Only visit the USA if you want to see the sights and be a tourist. But to live there is expensive. The entire place is designed to drain money from you in a thousand ways big and small. Having a child there will cost you a fortune. Getting a house there will open you up to a thousand little cuts. Even apartments now cost a lot of money and they charge you for every little thing. God forbid you keep a pet. They will want to make it as costly as possible to care for an animal. I am an American, but I prefer to live/tour around in Asia. As you said, wherever we are, we are HOME.

But one of the things I like about Thailand over Vietnam is that I am one of those people who doesn't enjoy the chaos. Not even being able to cross a street stresses me out too much! Maybe living in the country would be okay, but I prefer Thailand if I live in Asia. I prefer Europe, even if it's more expensive (it's less expensive if you don't stay in the big cities).

Niki, I think you would love LATIN. AMERICA too. It has a lot of similarities to East / SE Asia. It’s inexpensive, it’s very different than Europe, it has a lot of historical charm that US/Canada doesn’t have, the people are extremely friendly, many countries have great food, etc! For urban living, several cities in Mexico, Colombia, Argentina and others are great. For less urban living (beaches or nature), Costa Rica, México, Colombia, Caribbean, etc

@@duckysgt they are in certain areas of certain countries, but where most tourist or big cities it’s not a problem. They are usually found in mountainous village areas or in the Amazon jungle. What I am getting at is that there is very little chance you would be interested in spending time in the areas that the cartels are located in. It’s really no different than the US. Pick a major city, and even the popular cities people love to go as tourist have neighborhoods that have extremely high homicide rates, but you won’t be going to neighborhoods

@@NikiProshin you would love it. I would be happy to share more information on specific places that I’ve loved. It really does. Remind me in many ways, Asia, especially south east Asia. One difference I would say is that in Latin America? They like to have a lot more festivals and parties.

@@duckysgthi, I haven't been there but accdg to KZbinrs (and even their locals) - don't go or be very careful in Colombia. There have been many cases of tourists being drugged & robbed. Google scopalamine & being "scoped" in Colombia. There have also been troubles in Ecuador (but I think it's overall getting better), so pick your country/ countries and do your research. Also, it would be good to learn a bit of Spanish. Safe travels.

I have lived too many places to count and I have always lived by the lyrics of a great song "Anyplace I Hang My Hat is Home". You seem to think the same way. However, I am definitly a westerner. Asia does not appeal to me at all. I am not into nature, and the humidity, heat, insects and everything else is not for me. However, chacun a son gout. That being said, I am very much enjoying your videos since you moved to Vietnam and am so happy that you are happy!

I love Asian food (especially Thai) but when i've been there a while i reallly miss dairy products like milk, cheese and butter and also bread ....and the only way you can buy is them is to pay through the nose ....Eg a 250g wheel of Président Camembert cheese imported from from Europe which costs £2.60 ($3.25) here in England , costs £10 or $12.50 in Thailand and locally-produced cheese is quite frankly inedible and the milk tastes funny like it has been reconstituted from powdered milk

Postcard It looks very green there, which I like. You are right about the cost of things in Asia. I went to Thailand and my friend and I were able to easily afford to buy lunch from the noodle shop for everyone in the family. Here in the USA I pay the same amount for one noodle soup meal. Now I am hungry for pho!

It's so amazingly beautiful all around. Unbelievable. I think I have to come somewhere there. Absolutely the best trip of my life was Philippines - soo beautiful nature and people. ❤ I'll always cherish that memory - snorkling in clear waters, swimming in waterfalls, all the amazing bougainvilleas and other flowers, early morning walks on the beach, watching the fishermen at work, roosters crowing, dogs just laying under the moped car, butterfly sanctuary, chaotic market place, and the people - oh, the people. One more: Whitney Houston singing outside somewhere there (really a nighttime karaoke outside - they are unbelievably talented singers) while just swimming and listening to the gekkoes [tok-koe-tok-koe-tok-koe] on the walls.. Memorizing all that made me so terribly wanting to come back! ❤

not "grass" -- you could say "herbs"/"basil" (because it looks like it's mostly the herb "basil" there) or maybe even "greens" but we say "greens" for things like lettuces, kale, chard, spinach, etc.

The greens with the soup looked like Thai basil, but sometimes called red basil due to stem color and might also be called Vietnamese basil in Vietnam. Since all I really need is a small decent home w/ A/C, good Internet and convenient shopping/restaurants, I’ve considered some Asian countries for retirement (I’m in the US).

Dear Niki, You share exactly what I experienced in Asia. I think the people are much nicer and work harder than in Europe. Asia is much safer in many areas than here or the U.S. and it's getting worse and worse here in Europe. I had the same impression in the south of Mexico, but once you go further north it is less safe. Does this have to do with the influence of the US? to make. Well, I think so.

While I agree to a certain extent that some Asian countries, not all though, are easer to get a visa and have lower costs, I feel you still need to show / educate some of your western viewers in terms of other draws in Asia. Let them understand how safe / secure / advanced Asian countries are in comparison to the western world (eg. USA). Furthermore, many people have not even travel out of their own town / country to see and experience for themselves. Most are easily influenced by biased western media and continue to believe that USA is the best (safest and most advanced) and China is very backward and poor. Thus, if one has the financial means, do travel and see for yourself and not be too myopic / ignorant to believe everything from the media.
